I am about to get a new set of speakers for my Arcam AVR300. I was initially going to get the B&W 604 S3, but I have started to consider the Energy C-9, especially with their recent price drop.

Any thoughts on this? I listen to 50% Music and 50% HT.

Life is good.

What do your ears tell you?:)

I'd tell you to go with Energy C because that's what I have. I haven't listened to many B&Ws though. They certainly have a good reputation, but you should go with what sounds best to you.

My ears are probably built on a different calibration standard than yours are, so don't take my word for it.:p Go with what sounds best to you, with the sort of music/movies you like.

To be honest with you, side by side comparisons have been difficult to do. I've heard the B&W 604 S3 with my receiver and CD player, but I have been unable to here the Energy C-9 in a similar set up. The Energy dealer is not willing to let me demo the Energy C-9. :(

With that said, both speakers sound excellent in their own right. The B&W 604's sound a little more crisp to me, especially in the upper-mid levels. However, I'm not too sure if the B&Ws are worth the $600 extra ($1299 versus $680).

Life is good.

You mean he's not willing to let you take them home or not willing to do the demo in the store for you?

In-home demos are the best, obviously, but (and some may disagree) in-store demos are better than nothing.

With the Arcam look at the Veritas. Unbeatable sound.

I thought about getting the Energy Veritas 2.3i as well. I found for about $2000, which is a little out of my price range (anybody know of better deals?). The question then becomes, are the Energy Veritals 2.3i $600 better than the B&W 604s?

Additionally, my local Energy dealer doesn't even have the Veritas in stock, so I won't be able to demo them. However, I have read nothing but great things about these speakers.

Life is good.

Far more than $600 better. They're in a whole different league.
