I need surround left and surround right speakers for my athena setup (AS-F2/AS-C1). I was planing on using a set of AS-B1s. Problem is, they are no longer on sale at BB! I wuld have placed the AS-B1s in the tri corners of the room (seating is on back wall) But where could I put the r1s? The r1s have a nice mounting system included, but the B1s would be hard to mount? How could I mount something that heavy?

One other thing, how picky is Athena on warrenty claims? I see they say you have to buy from an authorized dealer. I'm reasonably sure the places I bought my front speakers from were authorized (Best Buy and audioadvisor), but who else is an authorized dealer? I'm not anticipating having any issues, but its nice to have peace of mind...

I am in the same boat as you, I really hope they do go back on sale.

yeah... I shuld have just bought everyting all at once. I'm thinking I should just go with the R1s instead, as they will be easy to wall mount.

When I was driving around last week I stopped at a couple BB at the B1's were $90. They seem to have gone up since then. 2 of my local stores had one AS-R1 each and they were going somewhere in the $65 range.

Your best bet would be open box B1's but if you can't find any, negotiate for some new B1's with a manager. They might be flexible since they've pretty much been on clearance all year.

Up here in Canada, they have just started clearing out the Athena's a few weeks ago, so they are still pretty available. Some of them are still available on www.futureshop.ca . The R1's go for 80CAD ~65us and the AS-b1's are 120CAD~ 95CAD. Not sure if they are still available on the website, but you can get them in the store. If you have trouble finding them locally, shoot me over a PM and maybe I'll be able to hook you up!I recently purchased 2x as-b1, 2x as-r1 and 1x as-c1 for 225$ US at futureshop.

The new series is supposed to sound the same as the original series. The changes are mostly cosmetic. This is according to the Athena folks I spoke with in Vegas at CES back in January.

But you probably won't find them heavily discounted when they debut.

www.audioadvisor.com

www.onecall.com

Both are authorized Athena dealers. I bought stands for the Point 5 system from AudioAdvisor and they are great to deal with, the person I spoke to really knew the products.
