After auditioning Golden Ear, B&W and others I settled on a set of Paradigm Studio 100. I actually listened to the Studio 60's and liked them so much I bought the 100's without even hearing them. They have been ordered and I am waiting impatiently.

I know the Studio 100's like power the dealer has suggested an Integra DTS 80.3 Anyone have any insight if the Integra will provide the power I will need for the 100's?

That should be plenty of power for the 100's!
Congrats on some great speakers.

Finally getting a chance to really enjoy my newly acquired SE-1's. What a tremendous sounding speaker. I'm completely happy with my purchase.

Hi guys, i need your help. I started a thread about paradigm but no one seems to answer it. Can you help me out since I need to decide soon.

Basically it goes like this:

Purpose - For 95% movies / 5% music
Subs - 1pc SVS PC13 Ultra
Amplifier - Denon 2312 (105watts per channel?)
Room - 15sqm bedroom (closed)
Note: I live in the Philippines hence the price
---------------------------------------------------------------
What would you get?

(old stock but still bnew as per dealer)
Studio 40v3 (pair) - $733
Studio CC590v3 - $600

VS

(new bnew stock)
Studio 20v5 (pair) - $1100
Studio CC590v5 - $1040

Questions:

1) Are the version 5 that much better than the version 3? Note that the Studio40v3 left/right speakers are bigger (has two mids) versus the single speaker of Studio20v5

2) Will there be a problem in using old stock speakers? I think studio version3 speakers are more than 10yrs+ old right? I'm quite hesitant to get old speakers since the molding/glue or something might be weak already or such. Or maybe because they weren't used for a long time, rust or some other thing gets degraded already? Please enlighten me.

If u can still get a full warranty and push the dealer to lower the price the 40s could be the way to go. For movies I doubt you would notice much difference over 20s. Music on the other hand..... The extra driver on the 40s will add a little in the middle and your sub will do just fine for bass and LFE.

Anyone out there besides me that has taken there music outdoors? I have a pair of Stylus 370-SM's in my third zone. They put out great sound and can play quite loud. I know we are all enthusiasts/audiophiles, but that's whybi have chosen to bring hi-fidelity out to the yard. I just rarely hear anyone mention outdoor speakers.

Pappaduke, it appears we have something else in common
Besides the SE bookshelf speakers.

I have a pair of the Stylus 470's on my patio running
Off of zone 2. Great bass response and they can get louder
Than my neighbors would care for. I've recommended them
A few times also. My dealer actually gave me a really good
Deal on them. He had several sets that were slow movers,
Everyone wanted the smaller series.

I considered the rock monitors but didn't feel like burying cable. After listening to the Stylus 370's and 470's I felt like the 470's would have been overkill. Now if my dealer had dropped the price, I may have gone with the 470's. However, my 370's are more than capable of filling my yard (and at times my neighbors) with plenty of sound. My closest neighbor is about 30yds away and the majority of the time I play my music at moderate levels. When I have my annual BBQ, the volume goes up, but that's typical in my neighborhood when one has a gathering. Glad to see someone else has taken hi-fidelity outdoors. I tried a dock, have a Bluetooth speaker, but wired outdoors are the way to go if you really want great sound. Last night I noticed one of my neighbors appears to have an outdoor TV. Hmm......

I noticed you listed the "Stylus 370-SM's"---is that the
Model with 2 tweeters per speaker??? I bet they are real
Nice. I'm curious as to how they would sound compared
To the regular Stylus speaker with 1 tweeter. (Mine)

My dealer wanted to unload the 470's so badly that he
Sold them to me for a few bucks more than the MSRP of
the 270's. (which was what I originally wanted)

I had this same issue a while back. Was buying a set of V3's that came with paradigms "top of the line center" as the ad said. So i looked and looked to try to figure out what CC it was gonna be before i made the drive. I can't say 100% but i don't think there was a 590 or 690. I ended up getting it(which turned out to be the 570) and will say it sounds very nice. Its 2 woofers, a smallish midrange, and a tweeter.
Now that I've converted to pure stereo, i've only held on to it in case i need to harvest woofers or tweeter from it. But thats not a statement about it not being good. Its a really good cc. But im a music guy.

I made the switch to stereo and added an Emotiva XPA2 fully balanced from an XSP1 balanced from a PS Audio Digital Link III. Wow. The Studio 100's can boogie.

You must of had a ski mask on when you made that deal. I chose the SM's thinking they would provide for a better stereo image in an outdoor area with the two tweeters. I didn't do a comparison though because that would have been in an indoor listening room. All I can say is that I haven't been disappointed with the sound at all. I do feel like the stereo image is quite good over my entire yard.

Would the CC-690 be a total overkill in a MilleniaOne 5.1 setup?
I am so missing a crisp centre...

It would over power the left and right speakers.

I had the 5.1 Millenia One's and then went to the Studio 10's then to the Signature 2's.

Thanks for your reply...
What to do?
Wife absolutely love the low signature of the MilleniOne, but could accept the centre, since it would be mounted beneath the TV/screen.
Maybe a smaller version of the CC?

Thing is, I can get the 690 at only 100 US extra over the 490?
Seems like a waste not to go for the 690.
Maybe over time I can trade up? What do you think?

Question - has anyone moved from Studio 60's v.2 to Studio 60's v.5?

My setup is listed below. I've been very happy with the Studio 60's v.2. I can't go to the Studio 100's because they are too tall for my room & screen.

Much thanks.

Home Theater Setup
Samsung UN65ES8000 LCD/LED
BenQ W1080ST Projector
Pioneer SC65 (Pre-Amp)
Wyred4Sound MMC-7 Channel Amplifier, 221wpc
OPPO 103, Directv GENIE
Darbee Darblet
ALL Paradigm - 7.1 - Studio 60's, V.2 (FL/FR)
CC-690, V.5 (C)
ADP 590 V.5 (SS)
MilleniaOne 2.0 (BS) - Velodyne 810 Sub

Looking for some cheap <$200 small speakers to use as surrounds, any suggestions? Currently using a pair of Studio 20v5, B&W HTM62 for center channel, and Denon 2112ci.

I would not get the center if you could never update the LR. You might be better off with a better stereo pair and no center than an epic center and no other large speakers. Sounds like you need to talk to the wife.

I would also check your crossover on the smaller speakers and see if it is as low as possible. When I had lifestyle size speakers I went from 120hz to 100hz and it made a huge difference in how clear everything sounded.

How small do you need? If you're looking to stay with Paradigm you could look for some used Atoms or something from the Cinema series that might work in that price range.

There's nothing to see here.

Small enough to not be too conspicuous on a sofa table. Has anyone ever used any mirage omni speakers as surrounds with a pair of Studio speakers? Also I don't have to stay with Paradigm, just something that won't be too far off from what I have now (no horn tweeters). Good call on the Cinema series, I'll look into those.
