Not so much that the 2 channel is not good as I use it for digital media, it is the phono input that is not good and both units produce a different sound so at times I switch between the two for CD's as well. My 2 channel Elite amp is a an unknown gem in my books, it has two symmetrical dual mono amplifiers and power supply's in one chassis that make it so awesome!!

Very cool. So, this guy wants $575 for the studio 60 speakers. He bought them new a few years ago. They are v3. Does that sound hi or low to you? I can also get some Studio 100 v2's, but those are quite long in the tooth.

It all depends on their condition. If they still look and sound great... go for it.

Listen up, studios! Just say "NO" to DNR and EE!!

I can tell you that in the Canadian market that would be a good deal as long as they are in good condition (8.5/10), do not know what the rates down there are.

Hi everyone,

I haven't logged in for a few days and noticed I had a few PMs when I got back. Apparently I do not have sufficient posts to respond. If you send these questions in to our support email using the submission form on our website, use your forum handle as your name, and address them to John they will be funneled my way.

All the best!

So, the Studio 60's are a MUCH cleaner sound, especially mid-bass. They don't have as much punch as the monitor 11's, but they are otherwise fantastic.

I was wondering if anybody would know how much would a pair of Studio 60 V1 go for these days? The guy is asking $200 for both and from what I can see they are in excellent condition. Would it be worth it to pick them up? I have a pair of Monitor 9 V7 and Center 1 for my HT setup atm.

I do not see many Studio 60's, V1 for sale these days. $200 for the pair? That sounds like a very good price. Is there anyway you can hook them up to your sound system and hear them for yourself?

Outside of a physical inspection - - that is the only way I know that you could determine if they are right for you. At the least, can you hear them with the owner's current setup?

Ya, I asked him if I can hear it with his setup. Still waiting on the reply.

Thanks for the info on the pricing. I also try googling around but didn't really come up with any result other then some really old posts.

New Location for My ADP 470's?

I'm currently using Studio 100 v3, cc590 v3 and ADP 470 v3 in my 7.2 HT.
I've taken down the ceiling and I'm replacing the white tiles with black to reduce light reflection from my projector.

Originally, I placed my ADP's on the wall behind me set as surrounds and the 2 in-ceilings above and just forward of the seating position, set as back surrounds. The room is wide and narrow and we view across the narrow with the sides open.

Should the ADP's be located on the side with my in-ceiling speakers behind? I think I can attach each ADP up high to a bulkhead but there won't be a side wall for the sound to bounce from. I guess then I would set my ADP's as surrounds and my in-ceilings as back surrounds.

Thanks.

Hi guys, quick question. I need some advise on what to upgrade or purchase next. My current set up is the studio v5's (100's, cc-690, and 20's). I'm running them with an older, but still kick butt Denon 4802 R receiver (125 X 7). I don't use a dedicated amp and I am using a very old and weak Polk 202 sub rated at 50 watts RMS and 100 watts peak. Question is, what would make the most improvement in sound quality for both music and movies to my system, a dedicated amp (was thinking an emotiva XPA 5) or a new sub woofer (svs PB 2000)? What would you do? Any thoughts or suggestions would be great. Thanks so much.

I just bought a $300 premier acoustics pa-120 sub and I can't believe I have gone this long without it. Simply amazed that only $300 bought the biggest improvement in my system EVER, And it's by a Longshot

who do i talk to around here about changing my title from "advanced member" to "specialED member"

Thanks for the replys guys. Looks like a new sub will make the most improvement in sound quality with my system. Like I said in my previous post, I'm leaning towards the svs PB2000 to join my studio v5's (100's, cc-690, and 20's). Does anyone own this sub with their paradigms and what are your thoughts on it? Also, would you recommend I go with a different sub to join my studios? Really don't want to spend more than $800. Although the HSU vtf 15h mk2 is quite tempting. Sorry for all the sub talk in this thread, but would love to hear your thoughts on what would be a good choice for my wonderful studio v5's. Again, thanks so much guys.

I have two setups. The HT is using 2 sealed IDMAX 12s being driven by Carver using NHT active crossover.
The second is a 2 channel using ID12 slot ported box driven by an O Audio plate amp.
Both of these Image Dynamics setups destroy the Paradigms I had. Image Dynamics is more articulate and extends much deeper than the Paradigms. The IDMAX subs destroy anything Paradigm has to offer and Ive heard them all.

If you are unwilling to go DIY, I would buy HSU or SVS. There are a couple other recommendations floating around on AVS but Ive heard those and I know they are good.

This is how you make a DSP-3200 not suck...it's still not perfect but it's a huge improvement and the woofer handles the additional power very well(for now). I had the amp modified with +5db bass boost at 31-35 Hz. Total cost was $319 Canadian including shipping/ tax. I sold the Paradigm plate amp from the sub for $270 and it was well worth the $50 to upgrade to the BASH 500!

I have read many reviews on this amp about it rattling when it's mounted in the sub enclosure but mine doesn't at all and there are no air leaks...I also removed the plastic panel on the front that the ports are mounted to and sealed it with black silicone because it was leaking air and sounded horrible, added some stick on rubber feet to the plastic feet too. Yeah I could have painted the mounting plate I made for the amp but I didn't want to wait for paint to dry and deal with fumes in my house and it will never be seen anyways. I'm much happier with this sub now and I highly recommend these modifications to anyone that has a DSP series sub.

I like that. Nice upgrade.

Interesting you mention noise from leaks. The person who bought my DSPs had a problem with this. His was brand new. Looks like the Pdigm quality control may not be what it used to be..........

A sub is nice but I've gotten far more out of my setup by switching from a Pioneer AVR - SC65 (now in preamp mode) to the Wyred4Sound Class D, MMC 7 channel amplifier (221 wpc) with 7 discrete "monoblocks" with an independent power supply to each channel.

No bleed over, incredible separation and power to spare. Many folks like the Emotiva brand but I was limited by space plus I wanted a solution that was more energy efficient and a smaller footprint.

So - - a sub is nice but I do not think that will improve your sound as much as "separates" will with an external amplifier.

Home Theater Setup
