That's a shame. Always wanted to get a second Sub 2 but with kids now that's not an option.

If it's $$, can probably get a very good deal on Sub 2 before they are discontinued. If its kids being rough, can always keep it in the box until the kids get a little better.

It's a "daycare costs more than my mortgage" problem. Even if I got another Sub 2 for what I got my first one for (almost 40% off) I still would be served divorce papers.

That sucks. Quality daycare is ridiculously expensive in some parts of the country.

How do you like your Sub 2? What's the rest of your system like?

It's great but at the same time it is the first sub I have even owned for HT. Had a few for cars years ago but never a good amount of power behind them. I have a full sig set up. S8s, C5, S2s and ADP3s with a MRX700. I never get to use it anymore. Maybe once every 3 - 4 months I'll take the day off with no one home and watch a movie. Other than that I might get to turn it on for some music if I am downstairs but that's it. Sad really................

I'm in the same boat although my kids are 11 and 8. Moved into a new house back in May with a dedicated media room. Couldn't wait!

Get to listen to music a couple times a week but otherwise it gets no use.

Watched Ratchet and Clank the other night - it was the first movie we watched as a family since we moved.

That said, still thinking of upgrading to a Sub 1 before they disappear.

Always wanted a dedicated room but this house is too small. Mine son is 21 months and wife is pregnant with #2.

Get that sub 1. Do it! Give in to peer pressure!

So I just got the Studio 10 V5, and while they are lovely speakers, I was wondering about something. Are Paradigm Studio series speakers made of real wood or MDF? I know it says real wood veeners, but that's just the finished not the actual construction.

I would expect (and hope) their basic cabinet is constructed of MDF rather than solid wood. Long grain natural wood has a lot of resonance, something you don't want in a speaker cabinet. Wood veneer is just as you said, the outer finish.

System includes KEF R500 floor standing, R200C center, R100 surrounds, SVS SB2000 subwoofer, NAD T758 receiver, Pro-Ject RPM1 turntable w/ Sumiko Pearl cartridge, Bluesound Vault, Sony BDP-S480 BlueRay player, Samsung UN55JU6500F 4K LED TV, KEF M500 headphones, Sony CDP-CE500 CD changer, MCS System cassette deck. The last 2 items are dust collectors but will work if asked.

It's disappointing, but since real wood tends to move and bend, I don't think that would be a good design choice to use real wood. Still, I never owned a speaker made of such very high standards.

There website does mentioned real wood cabinets at the third to the last paragraph:
https://www.paradigm.com/support/paradigm-history.php

Maybe that only applies to their Signature Series?

Even if it's real wood, you can easily reduce or eliminate any resonance by adding foam pads all around it which these speakers do have.

I found this picture here:

Wow...that is a bada$$ system. Are you using the MRX700 to drive all those speakers, or so you have a separate amp?

I have an all around Sig HT system - S2, C3, S1, Sub 1, and the Sub 1 is more sub than I'll ever need - that hits loud and low, and it is so fast and tight too.

The Sub 2 is widely considered the best movie/HT subwoofer money can buy, so I can't imagine what 2 are like. Not bad for your first sub!

I know what you mean with kids, we use the system all the time, but we really only use its full capability maybe 2-3 times per month. Most of the time the volume is turned down so its not really enjoyable.

My wife has been so gracious to allow a decent 2.1 system in our MBR that we can use for music and movies at enjoyable volumes at all hours. I wanted S8 and another Sub 1, but that was vetoed due to size. She agreed to S6 and a Seismic 110. That system will get much more use.

Hello to all Paradigm Speakers owners and thank you so much for sharing your experience with the rest of us.

As a new member in the forum and having very little experience compared to some of the professionals in this forum, I would like to seek your advice of my current ongoing setup.

I currently have paradigm S6 V.3 front, C5 V.3 center, Signature SUB 1 and I just received ADP3 for the surround. I haven't received the ceiling speakers yet (SIG 1.5R) and the S8’s v3 as well.
Currently the front and center plus sub are connected to Onkyo AV receiver TX-NR5010 but I've recently ordered two Onkyo amplifiers PA-MC5501 9 channels (150 W/C 8 Ω) to connect it to my new preamp Marantz 8802A in a 7.1.4 setup.

My plan is to use one amp for the high / mid and ceiling speakers and the second amp for the law by bi-amp the front S8’s, C5 and the Surround Back S6’s.… Please let me know your thoughts on this configuration!!!!

My second concern is how is the paradigm adaptable dipole ADP3 with Dolby ATMOS and DTS X materials??? ….. As I have been reading online that Dolby ATMOS and DTS X recommend direct monopole speakers not dipole or bipolar for the surround and back surround as well!!

By the way, the ADP3 are fantastic speakers and they produce dynamics and details than more the S6 when I connected the S6’s as surrounds.

So What do you think…!!! Shall I return the ADP3 and have 5.1.4 setup OR keep the ADP3 for the side surrounds and have 7.1.4 setup…!!! or is the dipole is a big no no!!!

I would love to hear your comments if you are currently using the ADP3 in Dolby ATMOS setup and is the difference noticeable as I can't hear the difference by myself yet.

I've attached a picture of my current setup which is not complete yet as I did not connect the preamp and the amplifiers yet as well as my new 79 inch LG UHD 9500 HDR TV.

Please advise and I am thanking you in advance.
