I am trying to find the sonus fabre Venere S somewhere to demo around GTA anyone know a dealer? Is 95 F comparable to Venere S, has anyone heard them both?
Well yeah, usually bigger drivers have a much wider sound stage than the smaller drivers. The 95Fs are much better for larger living room because they will fill the room with sound a whole lot better than the ones with smaller drivers. To me a wide sound stage is almost important as the sound quality itself, this is why I can't find something to replace my mains with 12" drivers they are just incredible with the room filling sound even at very low volumes. I'm probably going to need speakers with at least 8" drivers.

Its funny how they push beryllium as the material for both the midrange and the tweeter in the Persona line, for the best transient response times, but they chose plain aluminum for the tweeter in the prestige models.
I will definitely demo the persona line to see how much of an improvement there is over my Tributes

2 Channel setup -> Paradigm Tributes + Anthem Statement M1 amps + Wyred 4 Sound DAC2 + STP-SE preamp + Rega RP6 TT
7.2.4 Atmos HT -> Paradigm Studio 100s- Fronts, + Studio CC-690 - Center + Studio 20s Surround +
Rear Surround + dual Studio Sub 12s + four AMS-150R-30 (Atmos overhead)
Pre/Pro - Yamaha CX-A5100, AMP - Yamaha MX-A5000

It's not that funny. Beryllium is dramatically more expensive than aluminum. If they put Beryllium tweeters in the Prestige, they would cost a lot more.

I doubt anyone actually cares, but I just wanted to tell the world that I just completed my Paradigm Signature v2 set. I first set up my HT about about 8 years ago with the Paradigm Monitor series. I got the upgrade itch, and about two years ago I found a pair of S8s and a C5, but I was still using my old surrounds from my original Monitors. I had an alert set up on hifishark ever since looking for a used pair of Sig v.2 ADP3s to come onto the market. A pair (in the same color - Cherry - as the other 3 speakers) came up on eBay, so I grabbed it.

The whole set cost me about $7k shipped. Pretty happy with that considering they normally go for $18k + tax and/or shipping new.

Not using the Paradigm subs, though, so I guess I'm not entirely a purist.

Ah....Nice! Just start saving now and a Paradigm Sub1 or Sub2 will complete the set beautifully.

In a couple years.

I have dual SVS PB-13 Ultras that I'm pretty satisfied with for now. I've heard great things about the Paradigm subs, though, so I'd love to do a demo someday!

You mean like how they put them in the Tributes which cost less than what the prestige 95 goes for? There goes your theory....

Trubute price was $6,000 when discontinued, prestige 95F's are only 5 grand a pair (years later), and have twice now been offered with a "free" ~$2,000 Center Channel.

This is pretty basic. Let me know if you have any more trouble understanding, and I can try to help.

Compare the prices of the midnight cherry which is the closest approximation to the finish on the tributes and you end up with a $400 difference if you want to use MSRPs. Of course, no one buys these at MSRP, I paid $4500 CAD for my Tibutes brand new in the box, good luck finding a set of 95Fs for that price.

I'm, looking at the Persona line, I see curved cabinets, I see beryllium. What I don't see is boxy cabinets and aluminum tweeters, even if we go with MSRP pricing, you are telling me you wouldn't want Paradigms best components for an additional $600?

Beryllium is also quite toxic to work with, and this undoubtedly adds to the price. If it was not a superior material, they would not go to effort of using it - why would you considering the extra precautions necessary to work with it? I might have a chance to hear the Personas some day, my local dealer is undecided on whether or not they will carry them. And maybe the Prestiges aren't up to the greatest sounds standards, but I really like them. They do what I expected of them.

Hi guys,

I have some existing 11 year old in-ceiling Niles that I use for my home audio set up that I am looking to upgrade. Yes, I know everyone here will rush to tell me that I need to get them out of the ceiling but that is not going to happen for a number of reasons, including my wife. I have narrowed my choice between Paradigm's elite 80A or the Pro 80A. My question is, does anyone know what the $200 price increase for the elite gets you? It seems like they are generally pretty close. I am just trying to figure out if anyone knows whether the extra cost is justified. Thanks.

You might be better off contacting Paradigm directly to pose the question! What I can tell you is what I was told by a Paradigm/Anthem rep. at a local event a few months back - and that was that the Elite is tonally matched to the Prestige and the Pro is tonally matched to the Monitor series (and Sigs to Sigs) - makes sense, but is it that important? Don't know if that justifies the cost, if that is even really true - just what I was told.

On Beryllium, the price of the drivers from TL and Scan are around $275 a pop. Obviously, Paradigm isn't paying retail pricing. Not sure what the other drivers they are using cost.

It should be noted that I can't remember anyone using beryllium for a cone driver. I wouldn't even hazard a guess on the cost difference between it and other materials.

Current projector - JVC RS25 and Marantz VP15S1
Future projector - pre-ordered new JVC from AVScience

I expect the Monitor series is next to be upgraded and will probably use the drivers of the Pro series. While the Elite is a step up from the pro with a better woofer and crossover it isn't as big of a jump as the pro is over the home series. Most would be happy with the Pro/

You weren't getting Paradigm's best components in the Tributes. The drivers and performance was still inferior to the Signature version.

I'd be surprised if they made much, if any money off of them. They were extremely limited. 200 sets of the floorstander and 300 of the bookshelf. It didn't have to be a sustainable margin for Paradigm.

Sorry if this was answered somewhere in this thread but,

Prestige 95F W/ 55C Piano Black $4400 + tax 9.5% = Roughly $4800----These were returned speakers, I was told customer returned and decided on Focal instead within 2 weeks of home use.......

Good Deal or ask for more discount ? Tax is a Killer in Chicago, but am able to pay cash, so that might help

Thanks in Advance for any replies.......

That's a great deal with the free center. As long as they have boxes and everything I'd say do it!

Keep in mind no legitimate business will do tax free. So unless they're some trunk slammer or something you will always pay tax.
4200~ cash plus tax sounds like a great deal. I'd assume they'd have full 5 year warranty as well.

I rather if they just re-brand the SE series as the new Monitors and still keep the cost the same. I think this is doable if they downgrade the built quality to the Monitor series and make them in China like they do now while still using the Studio's drivers.

Agree. The Monitor series could use a bit of an revamp. It would be nice for them to launch of whole series that is based off of the SE series design and just take over the Monitor series.

As an owner of the SE series bookshelf and center
Channel speakers I can vouch that they were definitely
Superior to the Monitor line. I noticed an immediate improvement.
Replaced Mini-monitor(v5) and cc-190(v6).
Put the Above speakers up for sale on Craigslist the next morning.

So I finally got home from Iowa and set up my system in my house. Studio 100's left and right and milenia 30 for center. (Couldn't talk my wife in putting the 690 in front of fireplace, no budging) I have a JL fathom 13 I ran audessy on my integra receiver and it has the 100's frequency at 40 and the milenia at 80. I have switched the 100's to 80 and the milenia at 110. Does this sound right? The rears are the adp and they are at 80 as well If there is any spelling mistakes it because it is early here and I just woke up.

Sounds about right for the 100's; Audyssey sets crossover for both my 60's and 690 at 40 Hz, which i change to 80. The Milenia's setting is because it doesn't dig as deep as the Studios.
