As of September 2016, my primary home theater system is (will be!) based around a new Denon AVR-X4200W, which upgrades its capabilities to include Atmos|DTS:X playback. However there are at present only four discs with immersive audio in my BD collection (two Atmos, two Neo:X|11.1), so I have also unboxed|reinstalled a Yamaha HTR-5860 (alternative badged RX-V657DD5.1|DTS5.1|CinemaDSP capable) AVR to provide additional elective upmix options for legacy content different from those offered by the Denon AVR-X4200W.

My room geometry considerations limit the Denon AVR-X4200W speaker configuration to FrontWide7.2.4 (delivering alternative playback modes FrontWide7.2.2 or 5.2.4); the Yamaha HTR-5860 speaker configuration is 5.2.2FrontPresence, with both processors using a common shared|switched (5.2) Middle|Bottom layers speaker set (L|C|R|SL|SR and Sub1|Sub2), but AVR-dedicated FrontWide and Height speakers. The consolidated speaker setup is FrontWide7.2.6.

(1) Common speakers shared|switched between Denon AVR-X4200W (AVR#1) and Yamaha HTR-5860 (AVR#2)
  • Front Left|Center|Right: 3x Yamaha AST-S1 (aka YST-S1)
  • Surround Left|Right: 2x Harman/Infinity Classia C255ES
  • Subs: (Left) 1x Harman/Infinity TSS-SUB450; (Right) 1x Jamo SUB 550

(2) Speakers available only to Denon AVR-X4200W (AVR#1)
  • Front Wide Left|Right: 2x Polk R50
  • Front Height Left|Right: 2x Harman/EPI 110 Series 3 Wall Plane (Pair#1: Located above Front Left|Right)
  • Top Middle Left|Right: 2x Cambridge SoundWorks Ambiance

(3) Speakers available only to Yamaha HTR-5860 (AVR#2)
  • Front Presence Left|Right: 2x Harman/EPI 110 Series 3 Wall Plane (Pair#2: Located outside Pair#1)

using Divoom timebox these days, it is really amazing speaker with multifunctions like fine audio, sleep aid system, customized clock, etc. The most special part is the LED pixel screen, my kids really love the pretty image and animation in it. It's worthy commend for speaker around some price level.

Glad for you that you like it. Fine audio? Uh...sorry but no.

What does one of those things cost? I can appreciate why kids would like it. The company apparently knows their target market.

System includes KEF R500 floor standing, R200C center, R100 surrounds, SVS SB2000 subwoofer, NAD T758 receiver, Pro-Ject RPM1 turntable w/ Sumiko Pearl cartridge, Bluesound Vault, Sony BDP-S480 BlueRay player, Samsung UN55JU6500F 4K LED TV, KEF M500 headphones, Sony CDP-CE500 CD changer, MCS System cassette deck. The last 2 items are dust collectors but will work if asked.

You know that old adage "innocent until proven guilty?" Same concept... "Pics or it doesn't exist." And I mean, who wouldn't want to see that?! Show it off!

Will have to wait another week or so. Still running running wire for in ceiling speakers and HDMI to projector, painting etc. But will definitely post once it's all a little more polished in there.

Really? I thought it sounds like a clusterf**k. To each their own, as long as the OP enjoys it.

Coming from a guy who returned a pair of KEF LS50 because they were too bright, I take that comment with a grain of salt.

My comment was merely to poke fun at the OP's heavy use of text editing...

I was referring to the system at the top of this page that has 2 different receivers and several different kinds of speakers. You think that would sound good? And yes I did return LS50's because I didn't care for their sound. I'm guessing you thought I was referring to a different system. And by the way, I did say the LS50's are amazingly clear for the price, they just weren't for me.

OK, I am sorry. I thought you were referring to something else. I do agree that system is odd, to say the least. Multiple receivers connected to the same speakers is a disaster waiting to happen. With all the mismatched speaker makes and types, I agree there's likely only one person who will find it pleasing. And only one person had better ever turn it on unless there's a couple of fire extinguishers handy.

System includes KEF R500 floor standing, R200C center, R100 surrounds, SVS SB2000 subwoofer, NAD T758 receiver, Pro-Ject RPM1 turntable w/ Sumiko Pearl cartridge, Bluesound Vault, Sony BDP-S480 BlueRay player, Samsung UN55JU6500F 4K LED TV, KEF M500 headphones, Sony CDP-CE500 CD changer, MCS System cassette deck.
