I agree with Zorba. These speakers are easily good enough to be used as mains or a separate 2.1 setup. You can get much cheaper speakers for surround duty, but if you can get them for $100-120, you should get them. You can always re-purpose them to a starring role later on.

What other speakers do you have?

Kef Q100 FL/FR,SL/SR, Kef Q200C, JBL SP 150 & Bic F12 subs, Denon AVR-S710W, , Panasonic 50" Plasma, cable box, Xbox One, Toshiba laptop.
Bedroom: JBL Loft 50 FL/FR , Loft 20 center, JBLSP 150 sub, Pioneer VSX-830K, PS3, 32" Insigna LED.

He came back and said final price at $140 for the pair. the person is about 1 .5 hour drive from me in Connecticut.

I currently just bought 2 RBH towers and 1 RBH center speaker which i have not installed yet. I was hoping to pair these wharfedales with my 3.1 setup to make it a 5.1.

That would make more sense if you do a lot of native surround music, or use all-stereo mode during parties. For HT I would choose the aforementioned Klipsch speakers for their smaller size, higher sensitivity and treble energy. (Not to mention them being $50 cheaper, or rather $70 cheaper once you factor in gas for the 3 hour drive.)

~ Are you a "geek hobbyist" obsessed with squeezing out that last 5-10% improvement? The economy will thank you...especially the Chinese one. Or are you more of a get-set-and-forget "casual user" who simply wants to increase your enjoyment of movies, TV and gaming? Relax, HT isn't rocket science, nor does it have to cost an arm and a leg---especially if you ignore the aforementioned vocal minority. And remember to smile...it's just a silly hobby, after all. :)

If you have no other plans for the Wharfedales other than surround duty, maybe consider getting a used pair of speakers from you local pawn shop for $25-30 or For about the round trip + speaker price you can get 2 RBH R5Bi bookshelf speakers without ever leaving your living room and have full matching 5.1 setup.

I purchased a full Wharfedale setup, 225 220c 210, for a surround set and now am conflicted as to using the 210's for rear surround duty. they are so much better than just for that.

My point exactly! Seems a complete waste of their talent.
In your case it makes more sense since your surrounds won't be better than your mains. Matching surrounds to your fronts isn't that critical, but is always a good idea whenever possible.
FWIW, I'm not really missing anything with my inexpensive surrounds. If anything, I'll upgrade the subs long before the surrounds get considered.

Just picked up a pair of Dentons on Friday. So far I'm quite pleased with these guys! They are some solid little speakers with a great finish.

I've owned close to 40 pairs of speakers at this point, and these will be some that stay for a while.

They are going to be used for my computer setup with an NAD D 3020 integrated amp. Waiting for some isoacoustics stands to get things all set...but for now they sound pretty great. Also tried them in my living room and it was one of the most relaxing music listening events I've had.

Hi all,

New here!

Looking to get my first HT set up. I have been offered the following. Any feedback would be much appreciated. Please let me know if I should go for it or stay away.

Receiver: Denon AVR-X1300W

Speakers: Wharfedale Quartz Q7, Wharfedale Quartz Q1, Wharfedale Quartz QC1 (Not sure about the Sub - something with a D10?)

Thanks in advance!

Hey guys, I am very new to owning Wharfedale, well today to be exact. My wife wanted to try her DIY work on a buffet she found on the internet. When we went to go pick it up, we found out the owners were moving to SoCal and couldn't bring much with them. They asked if there was anything else we'd be interested in. I said, you don't have any speakers do you? Sure enough he had two vintage Wharfedale W70 Speakers, an amp and a Phillips turntable. He asked for $25 for all of it. He did cut the grills away due to fraying, but I can fix that. And the veneer needs some touch up work. They previous owner of the house bought these brand new in 1965. They stayed in the same house for 52 years, never moving, until today. The best part, they still had the literature that came with the Speakers! Anyway I posted some pictures in case any of you guys like these vintage speakers.

Read here and there about the all new Wharfedale Diamond "11" Series speakers being released. Just so happen to come across this here:

http://www.wharfedale.co.uk/product-list.php

Then, I found this here:

https://www.whathifi.com/news/wharfe...-high-end-show

Finally, this review here:

https://www.whathifi.com/wharfedale/diamond-111/review

Needless to say, the Diamond 11.1's have my full attention. For the time being, however, I am really enjoying my Denton 80th Anniversary speakers, as well as, my Diamond 220's. Might get a set of the 10.1's before it is all said and done. Going to wait a while and see how the 11.1's unfold. Chances are, I will end up with a set of them as well. Things are getting a bit crowded though.....LOL!!!!!

Cheers,

Phil

I think the new Diamond 11 series are the successor to the Diamond 10 series and still a step down from the Diamond 200 series.

From what I have read, the Diamond 200 series replaced the Diamond 10 series. Likewise, the new Diamond 11 series will replace the Diamond 200 series. That is how I understand it. There is no doubt in my mind, however, that I will own a set of new 11.1's. Just in no BIG hurry to do so. As mentioned, this is based from what I have read as I am by no means a Wharfedale speaker expert........LOL!!!!!

The Diamond 11 kinda look like the Reva series.

1. Theater - JVC RS56U, Yamaha CX-A5100, Outlaw Audio 7700 & 7140, Wharfedale Jade 7's series speakers, RSL C34e(Atmos),
2. LivingRoom - LG OLED65B6, Anthem MRX720, GolderEar 7's, SuperCenter X, SuperSat 3's
3. MasterBedRoom - LG 55LE8500, Onkyo TX-NR905,
Sources: DirecTV, Oppo 103D & 203, AppleTV(4th Gen), Roku Premeir+, AndroidTV Shield, X-Box One S, PS4

Glad that I got it right then. Very happy to hear that you like the 10.1's. I want a set, but I am up to my eyeballs now in gear. Need to simplify things a lot before buying anything new. I want a set of the new 11.1's as well. Only have so much room. That is, until I win the lottery.......LOL!!!!

you should hold out for the new 11.1s imo... you can be the first guy on the block , as they say, seems like nobody here has figured out how to get a pair yet...my Q acoustics 2020i's should be here today ...the comparison to the 10.1s will be interesting..

Yeah, that is a good point. Not sure how to get a set yet either. But, I have (3) sets of bookshelfs already and I am liking my 220's more and more. Don't get me wrong here I love my Dentons too, but lately been listening to my music on my desktop as of late. Don't want to get rid of any of them, but something has to give as I only have so much room. Thus, my apartment is rather small. Looking forward to your findings of the QA's. Hope to simplify my setups very soon and sell off the rest. Then, hope to get a set of the 11.1's.

Cheers,

Phil

I will be looking hard at the 11.3 or 11.4 when they get to the U.S. Looks like the 11.4 will be easy to drive as its rated as a 8 ohm. speaker vs. the 240 at 4 ohms. I have a pair of 220s now and love them. They are now seeing surround duty with my fronts being M.A RS6S. I ran the 220s as fronts for a while when I first got them. The rs6s, while they are damed fine speakers they can be a little bright .I enjoyed the 220s mid range and highs more.

My question for you guys is other than being bigger and I assume being able to play louder what would you gain by going to the 11.4 or 240 vs. the smaller 11.3 or 230 tower?Whatever I get will be paired with a HSU VT2 sub.One other factor is I like the looks or the 11s, much more than the 200 series.
