Hello all. Just got a set of sm65s, and they sound pretty great with my 1000s for surround, and my Hsu 3.5. Running them off an integra 50.3. Just wondering, will bi amping make much difference with these?

Passive bi-amping does nothing or near to nothing with any speaker. Active bi-amping may provide some benefit, but you would need a powered (active) crossover instead of the one inside the SM65s.

Don't forget the Studio monitor line takes longer than most to break in. Over a month for mine. They open up really nicely after the break in. Incredible sounding speakers. Incredibly accurate speakers.

Check this review out by Audioholics. At least I hope this is the correct link, I'm doing this from my phone so I hope it's the right link. Great review of the SM 65s.

I don't know if you intended to send that video to me. I've watched it before. I know you're on mobile so you maybe can't see my signature: I own 2 SM65s as my fronts. I am not saying they are bad speakers (I like them a lot), I'm just saying that bi-amping is a strange audiophile myth that has persisted, despite pretty clear science refuting that passive bi-amping does anything. I know that they have the binding posts to do it, but lots of speakers have them - it doesn't mean that it works that way.

I'll even tell you this: I did bi-amp my SM65s at first because I had a 7.1 receiver and only needed 5.1 channels and I could not hear a difference (if hearing a difference even means anything) nor could I measure a difference with REW. I would save the two dollars worth of speaker cable and the time to take the connector plates on the binding posts off and just connect them regularly to your amp/AVR.

No, I was just posting it more for everyone. Bi-amping I never got into, seems like too much of a hassle and expense for most like very little to no difference. Bi-wiring I heard is even more of a waste of time.

It's clear what camp you guys are in in regards to Bi-amping speakers. Heck I'd feel the same way if I was Bi-amping the internal amps from an AVR.
BUT!
I have a set of Klipsch KLF-20's in the game room that I have Bi-amp'd to a Carver TFM 35x running the horn mids and tweets and a Carver TFM 55x running the two 10" woofers.
I can tell you without a doubt that this setup sounds MUCH better then just running either one of these amps by themselves.

They sound equally as good as when I'm running just the Carver TFM 75... if not a little better.

Now keep in mind that these are monster amps and the speakers are very efficient.

Well the second set of BPVX/P's arrived today!
Now my upper level of 7.x speakers are complete.
Looks like this weekend I'll be pulling cable and hanging speakers...

HT upgrades are always fun!
