Been awhile since anybody posted in this thread considering the redesign of the scs/sbs/sss speakers into the new 02 models. So any problems, longer term observations or anything positive to say about these speakers?

Been over 2 years and still loving my speakers. I use them on a daily basis for gaming, movies, and music. Literally almost everyday they're being used. I almost forgot my tv had built in speakers haha.

Still very happy with mine! I work too much to watch a lot of TV or movies, but when I do, I am still impressed with the speakers and sub. My long-awaited upgrade is many steps above what I had, and I have to say that I still liked the old system until I heard this...

Nothing bad to say about them... The more I hear other peoples home theaters the more I like these. I do have the upgrade bug but I don't see my SCSs getting replaced anytime soon. I do know what I am looking for in a replacement to these. Mostly in the mid-bass. Now don't take this the wrong way these do sound really good. But in my room I feel I have a null I can't really fill with these around where these roll off and my PB12 picks up the lows. And really I think the STSs would be more then enough to fill my small void I have with these speakers. But this issue is so some minor no one seems to notice (even when I try to point it out) but me when I want to get really overly picky. I think once I am ready to upgrade it will be for towers. Unless I can find something like these with bigger drivers or bigger box or maybe a ported design. Just something that can play a bit louder a little lower. I've been keeping my eye on both the Aperion Audio Grand Versus and the KEF new Q's to give you an idea. But I haven't had any luck getting to hear either yet.

Same thing here! No intentions whatsoever to upgrade my current 7.1 setup, which I'm pretty happy with ( 3 x SCS-01 + 4 x SBS-01 + 1 x PB-10 )

Hi guys. Just a bit of an update. Knowing the Star Wars Blu~rays were coming out on Friday I decided to move my sub a bit and rerun Audessey. I also decided that with these movies I would watch them at reference level per my receiver. There isn't much more to say then WOW! Although I am still wanting more out of my room these SVS's definitely don't disappoint when it comes to movies.

Hi guys,

I know this is a old thread but I'm hoping some of the SVS owners here have experience with both SBS-01 and SCS-02. I'm just wondering if it's worth the upgrade to replace the front 3 (SBS-01 LR and SCS-01 center) with 3 SCS-02 or if it's not a big difference, just replace the LR SCS-02 and keep the SCS-01 center?

I currently have SBS-01 x4/SCS-01 Center with PB10-NSD subwoofer.

Do you guys think it would be that much of an upgrade? I really enjoy my SVS speakers but I have upgradeitis and although I am considering other brands such as Arx to replace front 3, I would like to hear what SVS owners would compare SBS-01 to the newer SCS-02...

Thanks!

Buy my awesome gear so I can buy more awesome gear! ...please...

Will get around to listing soon, PM me if interested: 6 month old, barely used Crest Audio CC4000 Amplifier, Crown XTI 2002 Amplifier, MiniDSP 88a with BM Plugin upgrade (UMIK-1 not included), 6 month old, barely used Emotiva Basx A-500 Amplifier

For a while I had SCS-02 for fronts and surrounds with a SCS-01 as the center and I could definitely tell a difference. I would recommend keeping at least the front 3 the same.

I can't speak to the -02's, which I'm sure are better than the -01's, but replacing the SBS with SCS will make a VERY noticeable difference. I'd get three SCS-02's for the front and move the SCS-01 to a surround and get another SCS for the other surround. Maybe SVS has an old SCS-01 they can sell you to match the surround. This is a def. upgrade and will make you very happy.

Hate to bring an old thread back from the dead but does anyone have some S-Series speakers they want to sell. I am looking for SCS or SSS or even STS. But really anything from the series.

I still have 4x SBS-01 on surround duty. Sounding good and with the metal grills they also look good. LCR is STS.2xSCS.STS all with metal grills + PC-2000.

(1) I think the group title is maybe confusing because it mentions sbs-01 which came out, what 10 years ago? I would rather it say "SVS Speakers Owners Thread"

I bought prime black BS and Prime black Sats for 5.1.1 I then ordered the WHITE ULtra BS and Ultra white Sats. (So at this point I have two sets). After comparison, I didn't think the Sats were $500 better than the Boston acoustics I had already. (Sats not as important as fronts IMO). I sent back the black Prime and kept the white Ultra BS only because of the color. (I was going to have to paint the Primes and re-do the cloth). At the time I did not think the Ultra BS warranted the extra $ but since then I love the Ultras. Great to have the 45 day trial and SVS was great to work with.

What I have now: two white ultra BS fronts on 4' stands beside 70" tv. I have a energy Sub from about 10 years ago that still sounds great. Last week I bought a second one for $65 on EBay!

I Then took my 4 Boston acoustic cr06's and used them for side surrounds and back surrounds for my 7.1. I have a Yamaha RX-A1050 120W receiver ($750 at Accessories4less) and a 7 channel Rotel amplifier (another great deal at $200 on eBay). Replaced all wire with 10awg and banana plugs. Only thing left is to decide if I want to replace Boston acoustic center channel. (Undecided)

Hello,
To introduce myself my name is Michael and live in the DFW area of Texas and I am in the process of upgrading my home entertainment equipment. My first upgrade was from my BIC PL200 to the SVS PB-2000 and I have to say the bug is officially dug deep. I am currently running everything off of an Onkyo TX-NR646 and with my room size I found out that my old speakers didn't cut it (Polk tl-250 5pack). I started the upgrades to the speakers by adding a set of pioneer Andrew Jones towers, center, and moving the polks to the surrounds and surround back channels. While this was a very warm and good sounding setup it wasn't giving me the "punch" I was looking for with movie watching. With other members suggestions I changed out the center channel to the BIC FH6-LRC and while this improved the situation a great deal I still felt like there was more to be had. Now we add in the newest change; the SVS Ultra center through their outlet and what I consider a great deal. After running my auto testing through the receiver I am absolutely amazed with the ultra. Unfortunately now the pioneer towers are sounding like $130 speakers next to a $550 center channel that is fine tuned. I know the ultra towers will eventually happen but just going to take time. Some would say that I drank the SVS kool-aid but I cannot believe how good that ultra center is with its clarity and range. With the Pioneers struggling to keep up do I keep saving for the towers or get the ultra bookshelves and then move them to the surrounds when the towers can be acquired? Thoughts, opinions, and critiques welcomed.

Quick question from you svs owners that have pb13 ultras. The website list the pb13 ultra as 22.5 inches height. Does that height include the stock feet or without the feet? Also for those of you with the svs soundpath isolation feet with pb13 ultras can you tell me overall height? Hoping it will be under 24 inches to fit under the screen. Thanks!

Also this will go on hardwood floor on concrete slab, is the isolation feet worth it or best to have it on felt sliders or small rug for the sub to sit on? Or just keep it on stock rubber feet?

Theater: Sony 45es, 120 inch 16:9 screen, Panny BDT500, Rotel RMB-1075, Rotel RSP-1068, Klipsch RP-280F, RP-450C, RP-160M, SVS PB13 x 2, Monster Power Conditioner, GIK acoustic panels

TV Room: Panasonic 60" plasma, Integra DTR-30.3, Axiom Audio M60, VP150, QS8, EP500

I have ultra LCR and want to fill in surrounds for 5.1. Considering prime elevation and ultra surround. Any opinions on which route to go? I know many on here aren't a fan on bipoles. They'll surely output a bit more, but if the elevation will give me enough oomph, i might want to save a few bucks towards a better sub.

Anyone have a good answer?

I'm in a very, very similar predicament.

2 Ultra Towers
1 Ultra Center on the way
2 Prime Elevation on the way

I'm planning to get a do a 5.1 for now but want a 7.2 setup with room to grow into atmos if I want to do it. So I'm thinking Marantz SR6011.

For the rears, would Prime Satellites be good enough? Those are the smaller speakers that look like the bookshelf speakers, not the speaker with dual baffles.

Probably should have opened your own thread or something. This thread is way too long in the tooth.

To answer your question, the Prime Sats are okay if your room isn't too big. They really aren't all that efficient, so @85db they do need quite a bit of power to sound loud. Unfortunately, there's only so much that can be done with a 4" driver and in a big room, they're not going to be able to fill the entire space with serious authority even if it's just for ambient effects.

The Ultra Surrounds are much more capable of course. They are however quite pricey and as much as I love SVS, they are indeed overpriced. You could always go for cheaper but bigger bookshelf alternatives than the Prime sats though tbh.

Kind of a bummer to see this hasn't been bumped in a while. I have a pair of the Ultra Bookshelf speakers and I love them. Still working toward a matching center, but music has always been my main goal.

There are several ongoing SVS threads. This is the primary one for subs: Official SVS Owners/Support Thread.

I believe that there is another thread for speakers, and others for particular subwoofer models.

Edit: I see that you have recently posted on the thread I linked. This particular thread is dead because the subs in question have long since replaced by newer models.
