Hi Allen,

We are working very hard on the MTS designs right now.. It will still be a few more months before we hope to finalize them. I can guarantee most folks will feel they sound and look as good (or better) than anything else near their price point..

Tom V.
SVS

Just thought some folks might want to know...I'm debating on going ahead with the Ascends or waiting it out to see what SVS has to offer.

Any word on when the SVS MTS-01 will be available? Can we expect to get a preview at CEDIA?

Guess not - and it looks like they have been pushed to '07 based on the SVS site.

What's the deal with these and the LTS-01s? The SVS sight is still saying "early 2007" for the MTS - how early?

Still wondering myself - my new home won't be complete until March but I'm trying to make some HT decisions now and was hoping to have had these in the mix. Looks like it's between Axiom and Paradigm for me. (That's the two I have it narrowed down to - would have loved to have had these in the mix)

Got this response from a recent inquiry, I am very interested too.

I know that you probably can't say anything, BUT, in anticipation of a
purchase the info is imperative. Is there a "ball park" price for the
MTS? Will there be a new center channel as well? Will they be out in
Jan 07? Is there ANY info available (drivers, or driver size, form
factor)?

Sorry to ask, I know that these things are usually held tight, but it
does affect my upcoming purchase decision.

Hey Stubeeef;

There will definitely be a new center. They definitely won't be
shipping in January of 2007. They will definitely include medium sized
towers in addition to a center and smaller bookshelves for rears (and
eventually dipole/bipole surrounds if not when they're first
introduced). Those are pretty much the only definites that we have
right now. R/D is still working on finalizing the details in terms of
what drivers and etc. In terms of pricing it's still up in the air (a
lot depends on what final components are chosen) but I'd say we're
looking at something like $2500-4000 for a 5.1 set including subwoofer.
I know that's a pretty big window but unfortunately until we've locked
the details down a little more I'm hesitant to give you any range and
even that one is tentative.

Ok, here's my question. I know a business has to make money and SVS is no exception but most of the other internet direct comapnies have mt systems around 1800. Throw in one of thier subs and they are around 2200-2600. SVS MTS at a 4k price point?!?! What gives?

because if they go after a different price point, they less to worry about in head to head competition.

It is simply "they are more expensive, so they must be better"....many people think that way. They may very well be better, but pricing as such you will have people that are less likely to compare.

I think it is a matter of market segments. They have a great system by all accounts at $999, the next one is supposed to be around $3000 (per their website), and then another larger and more expensive set to come.
makes sense to me, HSU has a low cost system, and now a higher cost one, I guess the new one is supposed to be better cause it costs more.

Oh...I agree...definitely market segments. You choose the areas where you think there is a void and/or easier for you to compete.

Seriously........like you DOUBT these speakers, even if they are 2500-4000, are going to sound anything less than AMAZING!

HELL the SBS line sounds like something that should cost 2-3 times more that it does....

That is why I was holding out until the MTS-01's came out but they are pushing them out to where it may be too late for me. I just wish we could get some details on them prior to Feb/Mar...

I got the Center and a pair of mains.

My plan........move the mains to the surround position and get a pair of MTS for mains.

Best of both worlds!

(I'm sure the current center channel is PLENTY of speaker not to be over powered by the larger MTS line, but only time will answer that one)

The question of the center is really not whether it is "enough" speaker to keep pace with the MTS line, but whether they are timbre matched with the same drivers. Different speaker lines by the same speaker company do use different drivers.

I wouldn't use a Paradigm Performance Series center channel with the Studio or Monitor line. Then again, I don't like dedicated center channel speakers at all.

Actually if you have the money standing by to buy a system in the MTS projected price range, if I were you I'd just go right ahead and order a pair of Ascend Acoustics CMT-340SEs (with the holiday pricing). Try them out for a couple weeks. If you love them, as I seriously suspect you will, order the rest of the set and be happy. If not, return them and wait for the SVS system. I think once you've heard the pair you'll be ordering the rest of the set within a day or two and not losing any more sleep over the upcoming SVS speakers.

(Having said that, I'd also order an SVS sub right away. No reason to wait on that!)

I find it funny that you guys can already grabble over what they will cost and you haven't seen or auditioned them yet.

And I don't think SVS is trying to compete with HSU, Ascend, or anyone else. They are in their own world competing with themselves to produce a world class speaker.

I'm about to punt and get some of their center speakers, SCS's, as L and R's. I spoke with Ed today and expect to see it on the website soon. They are pairing them now with rotated tweeters (why do you need to rotate a round tweeter? I could see the ribbon on the Hsu centers...) and logo's moved for vertical mounting.
So I am strongly thinking a 7.1 with SCS's as the front 3, and 4 SBS's for surrounds, and the PB-12NSD for the sub. there are a few posts on the SBS thread on a fellow that has done it.
I would love to see what they come up with for the MTS and LTS, guess I should be able to upgrade the fronts later if it goes that way.
Still have a lot to do with auditioning what is available NOW.
