badass, I would love a pro elite Pio... except I'll be the wet blanket and point out that a VSW-10 is way undersized for a 28x20 room.

Thanks guys, well for now the set up is missing the 2 rc-70's for the surround until they arrive and so far its good. The one thing about the sub (and if I am wrong here let me know) the sub only sems to work when I watch a music video and put it in 5.1 and when I watch a blueray. Havent been able to get anything out of it other than that.
I was told to take it out of direct or pure direct to get sound out of the sub during regular cd use but didnt get anything out of the sub. I have the sub set at 120hz as also advised. An I missing something?

Ive got some stuff

I'm a little confused. What do you mean that the sub is set at 120?

Do you mean in your Elite you have it set at 120? I believe you should have it at 80. You can put it in direct and your sub will play. If it is in pure direct I don't think the sub will work. I do know if you have it in pure direct it will bypass your MCACC settings.

The reason why you're not getting any sound out of the sub on non 5.1 material is because you probably have all your speakers set to LARGE. Change them to SMALL and then all redirected bass below 80hz will then go to the VSW-10.

And yes I agree the VSW-10 is probably too small for that room. You may need a second one or even a larger sub.

Ok. It's set all the way up. You can get the sub to play using Dolby pl z or x on your receiver. Cd's and some cable channels are only 2.0. That's probably the reason the sub isn't engaging when in pure direct with those sources. I'm guessing you are crossed over @ 80 and speakers are small in the avr.

Its crazy allright, I wantwed rc-30's or rc-50's for the surround, couldnt find 30's and after talking with vanns the price difference between 50's and 70's was only $50 a speaker so I opted to get 70's for surrounds in case I ever change my set up I can use the 70's with another setup some day

Hit the icon of the house on your remote. Then go to system setup, manual sp setup, speaker setting and then you will see x.over change that to 80.

Not for nothing, but it just may be time to get out the receiver manual and sit down for a good read!

I wouldn't bother running 70s that low on avr power. Also while the 70 can play low , its very likely the subwoofer would do better in those low freqs. Try choosing between xo points to see what you prefer

He's telling you that so you can can get your sub to actually work for you! Put all your speaker crossovers at 80Hz and start there for now.... Just because a speaker is "rated" down to 31Hz doesn't mean you need to run it that way. If you have a sub, it is designed to handle those difficult and power consuming lower frequencies, freeing up your speakers to handle the frequencies they can easier handle... not to mention taking a big load off of your receiver.

Ok Im getting it now. Even though I bought cf-70s cc-10 and escw-10 last summer I just used it for movies and my music I used my old pioneer sx-1080and a pair of HPM 100's for music. Will move the cf series and other speakers to main living room set up. Then set that up correctly.

Do have another question when setting this up as advised by you guys will the sound be better? I keep thinking it will be more evenly displaced.

It will sound better, since you are going to have support at the lower frequencies as well as the RC-70's almost all around

Make sure you run MCACC, but as mentioned, you do need more subwoofer power involved.

To me the improvement in the RC 70 is more in the midrange than the low end anyway. The 70's do 30hz easily but the 30's aren't very far from that either in my room. So while the 70's do play lower it isn't the reason I like them more than the 30's.The tweeters are exactly the same between all of the towers so the primary benifit of the 70's is the midrange which is still being used when you cross it over at 80. Let your sub do what it's best at and that also frees up more power for your AVR to put to the 70's in the frequency range it's best at. I personally have mine set at 60 because I have a bass null from my sub at 80 but I want my sub to handle the low end as much as possible. As good as the 70 is down low your sub was designed specifically for that.

Hello everyone ,

I have been setting up my HT for the last few years. I am now to the point where I want to buy rear speakers. I am thinking of bipole/dipole.

I have 2X RC-70s in the front
One RC-LCR for center
Denon AVR-591 receiver.

I originally wanted the RC-Rs but I can't find them anywhere.
I also was looking at the Veritas VSB. Problem is that I am in Canada i.e. they sell them 3 times the price at FS compared to Vanns, that's a bit of a ripp off to me.

I'd like to have good speakers for a 3-500$ budget. Any suggestions ?

Thanks

Yan

Your surrounds don't have to be the same brand as your front three. It would be nice if they could though.

If you're just looking for bipole speakers maybe check a couple of these brands out. I've never heard any of them, just did a quick search.

http://www.amazon.ca/Streem-SR-490-B...115612&sr=8-18

http://www.amazon.ca/Fluance-AVBP2-S...115699&sr=8-28

Or get CR-10s which are at least Energy speakers and are bipole/dipole switchable. $340/pr isn't bad.
http://www.amazon.ca/Connoisseur-Ser...115867&sr=8-51

If you're close to the border then have the Veritas surrounds shipped there and then drive across and pick them up. There are several border cities in the US which will let you ship to them.

After 15yrs I'm finally able to upgrade my system. I have the take 5 classics paired with a sony saw-m40 sub. My room is 13' x 25' with 10' ceiling and my couch is 8' from my tv. My budget is $1500.
I want a noticeble improvement to the sound quality.
I'm considering a Energy RCLCR center and either 4 RC-10s or maybe 2 RC-70s and just keep using the take 5's as surrounds? With a Bic America F12 sub?

Any help and suggestions is greatly appreciated.
