Thanks batpig. Your pictures help very much. I will try to do this over the weekend. I would have my Denon by then too.
Before I try swapping the woofer, are there any other troubleshooting methods I could try? Also does this issue seem to you more like a blown woofer/loose wire or could it be anything anything else too?

hard to say but you can confirm whether it's a bad woofer a bad crossover by swapping with the other speaker. If the problem "follows" the woofer you know the woofer is shot, if the problem "sticks" to the same speaker even with a woofer swap then it's a wiring issue.

did you switch the speakers around on the amp to at least see if the problem followed the speaker first?

I used to be able to fit my RC-LCR in front of my TV but with a TV upgrade there's now no room for the speaker...it needs a stand real soon. This is what it looks like in the meantime:

If you guys can throw out some models I'll check them out I don't mind ordering from the USA if needed though Vanns is obviously out of the question for me.

Just buy or build a riser stand and put your center in there. It'll raise your TV 10" or so but will look much better than what you have now.

Thanks for the information. I'm still trying to decide on what to do. I saw some open box VS speakers for $190 each which isn't much of a discount.

BNIB VS surrounds are $200 each at the moment. I wonder if there is any chance on getting a better price if I call in.

I got 190 each by calling in. I tried to get 150 because of a past sale (about 2 weeks prior) but they wouldnt come close to it. I was away at the time and couldnt get in touch with my buyer friend.

Have you thought about wall mounting the tv? I know you'd have to customize your acoustic paneling behind the tv, but a flat wall mount can be had for like 30 bucks.

+ 1 million

flat panels should be wall mounted

BTW - that's a lovely setup. I love the way you incorporated the acoustic panels into a decorative WAF-friendly layout.

I guess I'll just order it from Amazon since I won't be saving very much by calling in.

Thanks.

Did you order them through Vanns or Amazon? I notice that the seller is actually Vann as per the Amazon product page.

I ordered through Amazon as Vanns doesnt accept canadian credit cards. Kinek was 5$ for each so 10$. If you look a few pages ahead I followed suggestions others posted on this board.

Wow, that is not much of a fee at all. How long did it take for the speakers to make it to Kinek?

I'll have to go back a re-read parts of this thread.

Cheers

That riser is only rated to 100lbs, my tv is 150lbs with the stand.

I originally bought a really nice wall mount for $400 that extends out of the wall but it's a concrete wall and I had absolutely no idea how to put the thing together nor would any HT installers do it due to the drilling involved, I just ended up putting it on the stand and returning the wall mount. That's why I need a stand

There's gotta be something out that there will support the RC-LCR. I like the look of this Sanus one but I just don't see how the LCR would not fall off.

why would it fall off? The speaker will only hang 3" off each side. RC LCR weighs 25lbs so its not going anywhere.

you could always use blu tack adhesive to hold the speaker in place.

Sounds like a loose connection. I had that issue with a tweeter on one of my speakers in the past. If you can use a screwdriver and have any amount of patience, you can troubleshoot and fix the problem yourself. If you need any more advice, you know where to come! Best of luck to you

Just finished installing my 2 new V-S Surrounds!! Replaced 2 of my Take LCR for side surrounds. One thing I just have to mention though: For a "higher end" speaker company, they sure make crappy manuals. There was zero explanation about how to wall mount nor the rubber bumpers. There is NO mention of what the dial is for on the speaker, nor what it should be set to! I remember I had the same issues when mounting my Take FPS. Ugh! I think the first demo will be the "sand storm" scene from the latest Mission Impossible. I remember that scene being awesome in 7.1, so I am hoping it is even more awesome!! Pictures to follow at a later date.

This stand fits the RC-LCR perfectly. While it is rated up to 60lbs, that's with the plastic swivel on the bottom. I removed that with mine. Then the posts are thick metal. Super sturdy. I know that they could hold a lot of weight. Underneath there are plastic end caps helping the posts to attach. But if you put thick furniture pads, then they wouldn't take any weight. The top and bottom shelves are MDF. If you could add any kind of support--some kind of spacers (perhaps a couple of pieces of wood painted black)--tightly between the top of the RC-LCR and the bottom of the top shelf, that would prevent the MDF from flexing and transfer some of the weight to the RC-LCR. I don't see why it couldn't hold 100lbs then.

Interesting, very low cost too. I might get it and try it out though with the tv at 150lbs I'd be very nervous about putting my faith in that stand. I'd probably stand on it for a while and if it holds my 160lbs then it's good to go

That tv is 150 pounds? It looks like an LCD and only weighs about 30.

In my experience shipping to a far-away Kinek point was quite fast (a few days -- I don't remember exactly but it was in the same week). Also each Kinek point has its own fee structure (and also it own schedule!) -- they're independant businesses that simply use the Kinek banner & framework. So make sure your chosen Kinek point has a schedule compatible with your planned trip south of the border and that their prices are sane. 5$ is typical for a small packages under 15 or 20 lbs. Mine charged 10$ for the RC-10s and 10$ for the RC-LCR packages, each of which is above 20 lbs.

Thank you for the information.

I checked some of the Kinek points. The Lewiston one starts @ $10 while two others in the Buffalo area start @ $5.

Ya, 150 pounds seems high.. Are you sure that wasn't a spec for a shipped weight? What size/model is it?

I thought you said 100lbs. My bad. Sorry.

The metal supports do seem like the are strong enough. Heavy duty enough that if you wacked someone in the head with one, it could break their skull (seriously). But the MDF isn't strong enough by itself. I just pressed down on the front center of mine and it started to flex. While I would be completely willing to risk wedging a center support in between my RC-LCR and the top for 100lbs, not sure about 150. Maybe a couple of supports long ways from side to side, an inch wide, set about 4 or 5 inches apart. If they were cut the exact right height (such that you would have to put on the top shelf over the RC-LCR and supports, and the RC-LCR was locked in tight), I would think that would help evenly distribute the weight, but I'm no engineer or builder.
