Decided to go with the CF-30 towers since there only $120 a piece, but need some advice on a center. I'm thinking the CC-10, but I happened to the the V-MiniC center for $130 on amazon. It certainly looks better, but going spec for spec the CC-10 is a better choice and its less expensive for me to.

Any thoughts?

The CC-10 will match your CF-30s very very well. (tonally and aesthetically)

for the 10th or is it 11th time? We just saw them last fall. Its a good thing I like Rush but she is crazy about them, Dam Canadian wife of mine.smile.gif
I am hoping though that they do a 40th Anniversary tour saw the 30th it was good. I would be totally happy if they just played Caress Of Steel
Fly By Night and Farewell To Kings. Now that would be a concert.

I guess if there was one person I would like to see in concert again it would be Hendrix, my Father took me to see him when I was a young kid.
I would give my whole RC-line of speakers away to see him now as an adult.
Peace, Love & Jimmi Hendrix was my Fathers favorite saying back in the day.

For some of those lengths like you mentioned 14 would probally be easier to work with. I am running 12 on my fronts downstairs I use 14 on my longer runs.

So you use 12s on the fronts and 14 on others in the same system? I would love to just do that if I could. I just need thicker wire for surround duty. I feel like the 16 gauge isn't enough and that the detail in the speakers in back isn't the same.

I'm not a huge fan, but I am Canadian and as such, I am obligated to listen to their music for at least 5 hours a week as per Canadian law or be forced to endure a front row seat at a Celine Dion concert.

Jokes aside, I did just purchase the snakes and arrows blu-ray. I hear it's good. I should probably watch it.

If you have seen some of my pictures of my downstairs setup I have that railing that I run all my wires on top of. Its great for hiding the wires.
But honestly I think the reason I didnt run 12 all over is I had more 14 than 12 so used the 12 on all my towers in the front and 14 for the front wides
and surrounds. Is there a difference in the sound between the 2, I couldnt tell you.

My wife really digs that new cd. She said the more she listened to it the more she liked it. I agree with
her on that. I am a big Alex Lifeson fan, big time fan I guess you could say. My wife is the only woman that I know
who's favorite all time song is Working Man by Rush off their 1st album. Funny thing she is a book worm geek, but
put Rush on and something changes in her, kind of like that so I bought her every cd they ever made:smile.gif

Can somebody please help? When I try to click on "Image" to browse for an image, it lets me find it and when I try to upload, it says "Error uploading image". In the Forum or with PM's same thing. I reduced the pics to 390 by 260 and still nada. I've got the box checked where it says "Import Images".

Understood, we all have to make compromises. But I will note that you can get MultEQ XT at a very good price point with the Denon 1713 model. But if you are happy then no need to rock the boat wink.gif
A lot of subs have this to allow them to work with stereo receivers / integrated amps which don't have a single mono LFE output, but instead have L/R stereo RCA outputs. The two inputs are identical and just summed into one mono signal internally, so it doesn't matter which one you use if you are making a mono LFE connection.

Thanks, I wanted three zones so needed at least a 7.1 to easily put it together starting with just a second zone and working up to a third zone when I get an amp but did check out the 1713 when I was drilling down. I don't seem to be able to buy the sub from Take Classic set as a stand alone except in a couple spots used. Does it make more sense for the second sub to be the same or can any small 8" fill the gap? I placed the sub in the center of the room last night right under the center channel and it lost a bit of bass and didn't sound as decent as in the corner.

Finally finished renovating. I just tried to put the spikes on the 70's and use the little metal floor protectors, but the rubber bottom was sliding to the side because the glue is crappy. So instead I used the the rubber circles on the plinth. Man they are heavy when you holding there to try an line up the little metal things with the spikes mad.gif

I had the same problem when using those as well. The veritas line came with screw in rubber bottoms. Those work great if you can get some of those. They will fit your 70's screw pattern on your plinths and will raise it up around a little mor than the rubber pieces that came with the 70's

You don't need the same sub. You can use any sub along with it, an 8" would do fine.

As to where it sounds best, do the sub crawl - put the sub in your listening spot, then roam around the floor at sub level height (hands and knees is fine), and listen for where you like the sound best. You'll find several dead spots, several good places. You'll find many less (or none?) with two subs.

The folks at the sub forum are also a lot of help, although they are nuts and will try to get you to buy a dual 15" sub to go with those takes.

Kind of indirectly related to subs & such...after hearing from one of our fellow forum-members on how satisfied he was with the results...I really sat down a week or two ago and messed with the dials on the Audissey APS 5+2's, especially the low frequency control knob.
I actually am kicking myself a bit now, as I just had assumed from over a year ago that the 4 8" subs in the APS 5+2's were 'boomy' ... when all along I just needed to mess with the dials more. I'm actually really surprised at how good they sound (I don't know WHY I'm surprised...but I am!), and am actually extremely pleased with the bass, to where in that room I have no desire to buy a dedicated sub, as it seems to fully fill that role.
In fact, if I didn't have the s12.3 in the main room (nor the v2.2 setup, of course), I might have been completely content without a sub, period.
Can a dedicated sub do more? I'm sure it can...but for the footprint and 'built-in' functionality -- they are pretty darn impressive.

So...all of us with subs -- it is worth fiddling with knobs & doing the infamous "sub-crawl" -- without a doubt! wink.gif

Lol. They're part of a package I just sold to the guy. I was a bit surprised to see him trying to resell them and very surprised to see his asking price. I valued them to be worth about $90 each when I put together the package price and I knew that was toward the upper range of their market value. They are in very good shape and have well below average use for their age, but still... I liked them a lot - until I heard the RC lineup. All the power to him if he can find a buyer I suppose.

If he does get his asking price, that will recoup 2/3 of what he paid for the whole package and the remaining speakers that he is keeping make for approximately 3/4 of the valuation of the whole package. Oh, and they are e:XL 16s, not 15s.
