There was a guy in the Bay Area who advertised a C-C3 for $275 on craigslist at the beginning of the year. Two months later he dropped it to $160 and two weeks after that it was $140. I think the final selling price was $120 but the whole price reduction took a total of 3 months or maybe a little more. I was ready to buy at $120 but someone beat me to it. mad.gif I didn't need it but figured with all the RC Energy speakers I had, I'd find someway to use it. Or hold on to it until I found an AVSer to sell it to.

Oh well. I would have sold it for $130 plus shipping. Wish I had bought it to then resell to you.

I don't know what those things go for in Canada but $200 sounds like it would be fair.

Just a thought but I would like to upgrade to the v6.3 and have a pair of v5.2 in black and rosenut if anyone is interested. $200 each plus shipping if I can get them sold while the v6.3 are still on sale. Thanks.

Do you have a third V5.2c that you are keeping to use with the V6.3s if you get them?

What surrounds would go nicely with my current setup? Looking for more juice from the surrounds and a nice sub that won't be overtaken by my fronts.

Fronts A5+2.
Center RVS 1
Sides/Rear Take Classic
Sub Currently don't have a working sub.

I am not in a immediate need to upgrade, but wanted to keep my eyes open if a good deal came along. But after using my tv speakers for several years this is a huge upgrade. And thanks to BatPig and others for all the advice and helpful reviews.

RVSS surrounds would go with your system.

plenty of great subs out there, how much are you willing to spend?

Hey someone very interested in my surrounds send me a message ,he wanted the piano blacks towers but he couldn't found the center ,then he change his mind to buy my whole setup in rosenut ,I will ask him and remind him that you have the black center that he was looking I think he really want the black speakers ,I will ask him.

Okay I found his post

Another Bay Area guy nice.

RVSS looks good. Just wish I could hear them first. Also was rec'd Energy C2's by the person who sold me my center, but they are rare. He also said the C1 or C3 would be great as well.

Maybe use the RVSS for the rears and a C1.2.3 for the sides? Would that match well?

Looking to spend $300 for a sub.

Seriously though he's a good guy, I think with the language barrier sometime he misjudges the intended tone of other peoples posts. He's actually very helpful and shares his experience frequently, just maybe a wee bit jumpy tongue.gif

It looks like you don't have your location info on your profile. That is helpful to have, the Bay Area is a wonderland of quality used speaker deals and I would scoped out craigslist for you if I had known. But now that we know I bet we can get some nice upgrades cheap. What part of the Bay?

Before we talk about specific models, let's back up a step. What's your overall budget for all speakers, not just the sub alone. We should think about it a a total system and allocate the money, not just assign X to the subwoofer in isolation.

Then some other key points are room size and approximate layout, and how you will be using the system (volume levels and content).

I Went ahead and bought th Energy CF-70 and CB-20 from best buy, but then I saw the sale at amazon for the veritas 6.3. is it a good idea to return the CF-70s and get the veritas , it cost a few 100 dollars more but if this is my oppurtunity to get them then i will go ahead and spend it. I like Energy's sound and i need all your advise on making this decision. I do see the black v5.2 are not availaable anywhere and I prefer the all black setup.

Also i hear they are on a close out, if so is it a good time time to get the Veritas before they are gone

Located in the East Bay.

1. Budget is $300-$400 for surround speakers (4). Hoping to find deals on CL. Using a Kenwood sub for now. But prioritizing sides and rears for surround over the sub.
2. Use. Will use mostly for watching sports (football, basketball) and movies.
3. Room size and approx layout. Current room size is 19 feet by 25 feet with 12 feet ceilings. (In the future might move into a bedroom to be used as a media room 12 feet by 18 feet with 10 foot ceilings.) Seating is approx 10 ft from center channel and 11 feet from fronts. Due to layout and lack of mounting space sides/rears are located by the couch in a tight half circle. If better speakers are found I'd try to reconfigure to optimize the sound.

The Veritas speakers are a significant step up from the C's, not just in aound quality but also build quality and aesthetics. If you can afford the extra it's a smarter move as a long term investment.

Good call Afro. It sounds like he's unable to wall mount surrounds so those will work nicely and be a perfect tonal match for his front speakers.

@johdtv - your room is over 5000 cu ft so don't shortchange the subwoofer. That's a big space to pressurize. If funds are limited now I might just snag those A2+2s for surrounds and go 5.1 for now. The bipolar dispersion should give a nice surround field even without back surrounds.

But maybe you can have your cake and it eat it too with a nice used subwoofer deal. Stay tuned.

Considering someone else on CL is selling the exact same speakers for $350/pr he should jump on the cheaper pair now!

That guy is hilarious. Overprice the speakers and then make up a higher number as the "market value" - http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/ele/4225330478.html

The other ones are actually priced at market value. $160 is a solid deal.

I have two black and two rosenut veritas v5.2 for sale. They perform like new and have no scratches or dents. I am a non-smoker and have no pets. I have the grills and port plugs for all the speakers and original boxes. If you give me a zip code, I can call ups for a shipping estimate. If you can get to Lancaster, Pennsylvania before the amazon sale ends, I can give a discount, otherwise $200 plus shipping. If I sell one color, then I will only sell the same color as not to have a mismatched pair. Thank you for your interest.

Here's a solid subwoofer in East Bay: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/ele/4228465045.html

I'd try and bargain down closer to $200 though.

Hey guys, I'm trying to track down a Mirage S12 or an Energy S12.3 for sale. Been checking forums, craigslist and ebay for a while now. I know they are older subs so they are a bit hard to come by. If anyone has one for sale or knows of one, please let me know.

Thanks,

Steve

@johdtv - your room is over 5000 cu ft so don't shortchange the subwoofer. That's a big space to pressurize. If funds are limited now I might just snag those A2+2s for surrounds and go 5.1 for now. The bipolar dispersion should give a nice surround field even without back surrounds.

But maybe you can have your cake and it eat it too with a nice used subwoofer deal. Stay tuned.

hmmm...I just might do that.

But would the Energy c-2 for sides and RVSS for rears sound better? Or the A2+2 for the sides and RVSS for the rears be best?

The A2+2 is the perfect match for the front speakers and you don't have to buy stands. Seems like a no brainer especially at the price.

BTW not saying the C-2s aren't good, I owned a pair and they are an excellent value for the $100-150 they usually go for. And they do share a tweeter with the Audissey speakers so shoul be a good tonal match.

But the A+2s present three clear advantages IMO:

- perfect tonal match to fronts
- don't have to buy stands
- bipolar design will make them sound "bigger" as surrounds

Obviously these are used speakers so you can't necessarily choose, you take what you can find, but you already found a pair local and cheap. So grab them and then plot your next move.
