I still have the S12.3sub and for me it works great. Better subs out there since the S12.3was introduced, yes. If you can purchase it for $350 or under and in good condition I would really consider it. As far as the RC-R's I have owned those as well but sold all of mine off. Preferred the Veritas line, newer or older to the RC-R. If you already have the RC line in pace then having the RC-R will round out your system. Some people like to match all around and some don't. Pricing on the RC-R, $500 or below depending on condition.

Otherwise, separate prices are below.

Those of you I've been pm'ing have rights to the pairs if I don't get a buyer for the whole lot. You know who you are.

2.0ci: $400
2.4i: $1200
2.0ri: $400
2.2i: $550
PC-13U: $750
Denon 4306: $800

Plus shipping. Or will travel halfway if you pay my gas.

I do have the original boxes for everything I bought new.

Any of these speakers still for sale?

Cool thanks baron.

If cost wasn't an issue-would u guys rather buy the rc line new from Amazon over frys? I've bought 7 rc 70s from frys for my 7.2(pretty much all were banged up). Does Amazon ship better?

I think it's possible Amazon would double box them. Plus you may be closer to an Amazon warehouse than a Frys one. I've been a Prime member for over 2 years now and order lots of stuff off Amazon. Yet to have anything show up damaged from the shipping. Have had items show up defective, but not because the box was thrashed. Shame you don't live close to a Frys. I just drove down and picked up a pair of the RC-70s. No risk there. lol

Seems like every time I check this thread the discussion is about Fry's having a sale of RC70s or speculation of when their next sale will be. lol

hi,

I used to be a member here a few years back and left to pursue due to family and other hobbies. I still own and use Energy speakers and I am slowly getting back into home theater as I just purchased a new tv. Are they still around? When I left they had been acquired by Klipsh.

Audiovox has since purchased from Klipsch. The connoisseur line is still around and Fry's still has some stock on the reference connoisseur lineup, but at some point - probably soon, they will be gone, and the general consensus is that the only new Energy gear we can expect to see are soundbars and entry-level satellite speakers.

If you want some RC-70's you better buy them now while they're on sale for $229 each or $199 each with promo code. Sales ends July 4, looks like in store only.

How often does the LCR go on sale? I'd spring for the 70's, but how long am I going to have to wait for a decent price on the center?

The center went down to $200 apiece about a month ago and stayed at the price for about 2 weeks I think.
I got one, not very happy though

If you're not happy with the LCR I'm sure you could find someone in this forum to take it off of your hands...

It's just me that "not happy" with the LCR, at least for now.
There are a few factors play a role into that.
a. this series of speaker is too laid-back as I reported many times. Even, I'm a fan of music, this series is way too warm, way too ........ lazy.
b. I pair the LCR with my Sonus Faber LR and it doesn't sound good. Yes, I know it's not timbre matched and it might well be the issue ........ for me not to happy about it.

I will keep the Energy series, in fact, I'm continuously looking for the RC-10 to go onsale to complete the 5.1 (minus the .1 for now ) system.

It's just me that I've never put anything for sale before. All my old working stuff is either trashed, donated, or given to some relatives.
I might have started put them on sites for sale to make some bucks.

Any tips from owners of a S10.3 that just went barely silent. It still shows a test tone via channel test on Denon 3312ci?

I moved it downstairs and its identical behavior on 4311ci,

so i have tested the LFE rca cable, the receiver sub pre-out

That unfortunately leaves the amp,

Driver seems fine though, im guessing something with the amp now.

Ironically 2 days ago, i just picked up a s8.3 for the bedroom in a greyish finish vs. black. wasn't thrilled about the color but it wont matter in the bedroom ($40)

I took the plate amp apart and cant see anything that looks burned scorched, bad caps etc. Fuse is fine too.

I have 2 other s10.3s that work just fine knock on wood

I also wasn't much happy with the way the center reproduce dialogue.but for the price you get nice looking drivers, real wood veneer and solid enclosure ,you will not get that quality with other speakers at that price. sonically is something that your ears can get use to it. I mean the center don't sound bad, but you can have some trouble understanding some dialogues not all but some.

I tend to bump up the RC-LCR +2 or 3 db on the receiver for dialog and that seems to even things out for me.

I would try and use an amp from a good working s10.3..if it fires up your failing sub then you know for sure its the amp section.

On that gray s8.3 you can switch up the color to black by removing the amp, grill, woofer, and anything else you don't want painted, scuff it up real quick with 400-600 sand paper. Mask tape anything you don't want painted or over spray and shoot a few light coats of rustolum 2x black or whatever color you like. That 2x paint works realy well.

Send a message via Yahoo to Jeff Aguilar
In my home theater setup, I am using the Veritas 6.2's for mains and the 5.2 center channel. I am using Energy C-50's for my front height effect speakers. Well, they blew last night while watching Interstellar. What would be a good small speaker for my front height effects? I would love to go to in-walls but my walls will not allow it because of the construction of that wall, it has to be a box speaker. The are above my screen, so I don't want them too big.

I am considering the SVS satellites but those are $270 a pair, I really do not want to spend that much money. I thought the front effects did not have to handle too much since not much information is going to them, but I guess I was wrong.

I would love Energy Veritas Mini's, but I don't seem to see any for sale, since they are discontinued. I saw a couple of single speakers on eBay, but it would cost less to buy the SVS ones new than what they want for those.

What would sound alright with my set up? I am not too concerned with matching since my side surrounds are KEF dipole in-walls and my rear surrounds are no name in-walls. My mains are Veritas and my front widths are Connoisseurs, so maybe I should be a little concerned with my front heigh speakers.

Any suggestions?

Jeff

I would check out the used market for a pair of KEF egg satellites. I bought a set cheap on Craigslist (under $200 for the entire 5.1) and they are surprisingly robust in build quality and refined in sound quality. I have A/B'd them with my RC-Minis and the sound quality is quite similar, I've used them mixed with my other RCs as surround or heights and they blend great. Their "foot" is highly adjustable and can be either a stand or a wall mount so very versatile to aim.

KEF rates them to handle a lot of power with Max SPL around 105db so they shouldn't blow when used as heights. You can probably find a pair on eBay for $100 give or take. Just make sure not to get the smaller 1000 series eggs with the 3" woofer, the larger ones have 4.5" woofer like the RC Mini or C50s you had.
