I see energy branded center channels in Walmart.
Whoa, stop for a minute. So what if the EXL series was entry level? The fact that you enjoyed them until you learned that is all you need to know. Price means very little, enjoyment means EVERYTHING.

KEF R500, R200C, R100, SVS SB2000 sub, NAD T758 receiver, Pro-Ject RPM1 TT w/ Sumiko Pearl, Bluesound Vault2, Sony BDP-S480 BlueRay player, Samsung UN55JU6500F 4K LED TV, KEF M500 headphones, Sony CDP-CE500 CD changer.

Aside from the even numbered connoisseur series that Batpig mentioned, I believe the original Veritas speakers (V1.8 and V2.8) were still available in the mid-late 90s. They were the best speakers Energy ever made, but were never offered with matching center or surround speakers. I think those were the only models available for that time frame though.

Klipsch did own Energy, but then Audiovox purchased the entire Klipsch lineup. It seemed like Klipsch was keeping a few models from each of the three series you mentioned in production, but very few of those, if any are available in retail anymore. All audiovox seems to be interested in is using the Energy name for things like powerbars, soundbars, cables and car audio.

Since the e:XL line was Energy's entry level speakers, the connoisseur series would be most comparable of what you might still be able to find today. The only reason Energy would be held in any high regards at all today is for its past glory so technically the answer to your question about this would be NO. I'm curious what model of center channel you might have seen at walmart - could it have been a soundbar?

Oh I do still love them, just thought they were higher end, unaware the Energy had higher end speakers at the time. My old stereo shop, Sound Odyssey in Wappingers Falls NY only had the e series and exl's. About the same time I heard Dalquest DQ20's (the best speaker I have ever heard) but they were out of my price range, about $1500 a pair IIRC in the late 80s.

I liked my e:XLs as well. They were my first set of full size speakers. If you are willing to spend the money, I highly recommend checking out the RC70s. I've made several upgrades and additions over the past few years including and upgrade beyond the RC70s, but the jump from e:XL26s to RC70s was the most notable improvement, by far.

I have 4 Energy RC-6C in-ceiling speakers that I pulled out of my old house before selling it. However, I left the mounting brackets and grills in the home as I didn't want to deal with fixing the holes. I was thinking these would be easy to find and replace.

I have called Energy and scored the entire internet and I think I may have made a costly decision as there are NONE available anywhere.

What are my options here? I am guessing that those brackets are not shared with other speakers, Energy or not.

Is there such thing as a generic or universal mounting bracket and grill that I could use to install these in my new house?

Brand new to the forum so I thank anyone in advance.

Could I sell these drivers and surrounds on eBay just as they are? I don't know if they would be useable now without all of the mounting gear.

Hmmmm.... yes, I would say you are in quite a pickle... I also have this model of in ceiling speakers.. I have pondered what I would do if indeed i had to move and literally, I would just purhase a couple pairs of cheap replacement speakers to install in their place and take everything with me. As you well know, the RC-6C uses a separate mounting bezel kit that the speaker is hung from... so it is going to difficult to find something that uses the exact same type of system and bolt dimensions... You may have to do a bit of a retrofit with possibly something like this:

http://www.parts-express.com/fourjay...grill--300-320

You would probably drill holes that would line up with your existing speaker's dog screw hanging locations and install your own long screws and hardware and then mount the whole thing to your ceiling? Truly a bummer, as it would be a shame to dump your 6C's over this..

Ouch, that's rough. The speakers don't have dog-ear mounting tabs built in? They require a special, separate bracket for retro ceiling mounting?

Well, the outside bezel kit installs into the ceiling hole with dog ear mounting tabs and then you push the speaker up into place ...where 4 screws from this bezel slide into slots in the outside frame of the speaker and then you twist the speaker 90 degrees and tighten the speaker up snug into the bezel frame. So, ya...a big mistake not taking down those bezel kits, unfortunately....

I kinda figured I was screwed.

I am not a handy person so I could not install these myself even if I HAD the OEM mounting kits. So even if I could fit them in a generic mounting kit I would need someone to do it.

I guess I was at least hoping there would be some sort of use for the drivers themselves. I really like these speakers and don't want to simply throw them in the garbage....but would also be willing to sell them if the price was decent.

I guess putting them on ebay and seeing what happens is the only option here....

Can you ask the new owners of your old house for the mounting hardware or did you move far away? Even if you are far, it might be worth a shot contacting your realtor who could contact the buyer's realtor and asking them to mail it to you.

I wouldn't think the new owners would be a fan of now having 4 big holes in their ceiling once the bezel mounts and speaker covers are removed... unless they are handy and are interested in actually using those speaker locations .... you could send them 4 replacement speakers in trade...

Ya, there would probably need to be some sort of compensation or replacement. Alternately, the new owners might be able to insist that the Energy speakers be returned to the house since they were a fixture and likely were not on the terms of the contact of items not included in the sale. I don't know the legal aspect of in-wall speakers, but because you need a tool to remove them, they could be considered part of the house (like a ceiling fan, for example).

I was thinking the same thing - anything screwed down is considered part of the house unless spelled out in the contract as not being included. So contacting the buyers might just alert them that you took something that now belongs to them! Unless they knew the speakers were being removed and were OK with it.

Not sure what to suggest, sorry. Maybe selling on eBay - someone might have a blown driver and need a replacement.

oh okay. Out of production speaker that is in somewhat demand. I think I paid $250 - $300 for mine when I bought it years ago. You didn't specify how much you were willing to pay.

Hopefully you can find a better price. good luck!

I got mine at Fry's a few years ago (RC-LCR) for $220 at the lowest with promo code. For an out of production speaker (that was normally more than $220) $300 isn't a bad deal imo

Not to mention, they appear to be in great condition... not all beat up... and there is a Make Offer option... which may bear fruit as it appears at least one of them has been for a sale for a couple weeks already...
