"Reference Connoisseur" as the upper level, and only black finishes "

Thats a shame. That pretty much guarantees that I won't be buying anymore Energy down the road. I am almost ready to scrap the whole line becasue I can't get the LCR in cherry to match my towers.

So they would make good all surrounds front and back? I do have the coin I have a brand new denon AVR1610 still in UPS box and been ready to open like it was x-mas.

RC-50's will be GREAT anywhere you put them. I am a bit confused though, what type setup are you building? 5.1? 7.1? Though these may be overkill in surround and rear positions they will go great anywhere if you want to pay for them...

HTDude -- Xboxfreak is right, I think you need to take a step back and start with the big picture. How big is your room? What is your budget? 5.1 or 7.1? Is the priority movies or music?

You have a $350 receiver and are considering buying thousands of dollars in speakers.... let's make sure you are considering all your options carefully. Lot's of ways to skin this cat....

Does anyone have any "real" pictures of the Cherry and/or Rosenut speakers? The discount on Vanns right now is almost too good to pass up and not sure which color I would prefer. Depending on which picture I see, I like Cherry sometimes then other pictures I like the Rosenut. Not sure which is a true picture of the actual color.

Perfect, thanks! Now I'm torn, I like the Rosenut better, but I think the Cherry will match better. Why can't the discount be on black and call it a day!

I don't have a measuring type on me, but I took some pictures of the room. I believe 1610 only does 5.1.. that's what I was going for anyway. My budget will be 1000's, but over time. My priority will be Movies. I was just wondering If should get those RC 50's with that deal going.

oops edit be smart to post the link to the picture

Ahhh.. Let me clarify: In Canada.

I Begged Vanns to let me purchase one of their fine RC-LCR's. Not only will they not ship to the Canada, they will not even accept a CND credit card.

I cry everytime I see that speaker for $299 USD. Even after the exchange rate it is a sweet sweet deal.

Find a friend in the USA to buy it and ship it to you. Well worth the extra shipping cost, I think.

What deal are you referring to?

there is another deal on the 50's if you add the RC-LCR to your cart, you can add 2 50's for a total of $999...

I received the RC mini's a few weeks ago in cherry, and the ones I have seem darker than this picture shows and not nearly as orange. I went with the cherry's because at the time, that's what was on sale. And I also ordered RC30's which came in today in Cherry so it all matches. But if I had the choice between the two, I would have prefered the Rosenut. But I gotta say, I'm very happy with the cherry.

For you guys talking about towers as rear speakers, it's too bad I didn't take more pics of my old system because the room was too messy. I had a really mixed system but it absolutely rocked! I had 4 C-7, 1 CC100 and 2 RC30. For those who don't know, thats 6 towers used in 7.1 as fronts, sides, and rears. The C7 has three 5.5" drivers and were awesome speakers. Those old Connoisseur were just below par with the new RCs and selling those C-7s was the hardest decision I ever made. Using towers as rears or surrounds may not be practical and considered overkill, but if you have the coin, then live the dream my friend

I hate when that happens, even on ebay some great deals on amps and speakers but people are "scared" to ship outside of the US, it really sucks!

if you are close to the border, many US towns have stores that will take shipments on your behalf. That how I ended up getting them and I'm located in Vancouver. No duty, I may add.

I was able to get a Canadian cc to work, not sure by fluke or not.

Good luck with that, you might want to also try Craigslist. I offered 4 c-100s and one C-C100 on here a month or so ago. Then I found out it would cost between $80-90 to ship the 3 boxes. And you've got C-300 towers too? Prepare to get by reamed UPS or Fedex. It really impresses me when places like Vanns offer free shipping.

Luckily I sold my Energy's to a young man just getting started in home theater locally.

I would I don't want to go through all that trouble sending it back and plus I have very little or no time but can you point me in the right direction for decent energy speakers that would work well with my 1610?

wait a minute -- C-50's or RC-50's?? HTDude, can you please take a breath and explain EXACTLY what you are trying to go for here? If you are talking about a 5.1 setup of C-Series, then the 1610 is plenty....

Ok, VERY different than the RC-50's!!! Like I said, that was the first time I've seen anyone question whether a $1600 pair of tower speakers will be sufficient as rear surrounds!

The Denon 1610/590 or any other entry level unit will be fine with the C-Series.

But RC-10 bookshelf speakers or RC-30 towers would be even better. If he has the money, a lower end receiver will still power either of those speakers just fine and be a step up from the C-series. I'm using a Yamaha 465 with RC-10s and RC-30s and they play clean far louder than I can bear to listen.

As you say, though, we need more info about the setup and budget to offer decent advice.
