broken psb image t6 dilemma

I completely damage one of my psb image t6 speaker, I have not been able to replace it since they don't make them anymore. I was thinking about just getting on of the new imagine x2t speaker (to replace the broken one). Has anyone heard the old t6 and the new x2t and can you tell me if this is a good or bad idea? Am just concern about how acoustically match they would be.

thanks

What is the damage? A blown driver? Damaged speaker box?

That is indeed unfortunate. I would look for a used speaker to match what you have, rather than getting a new speaker that is an entirely different model. Or get two new speakers and get rid of the remaining old one.

Are the drivers ok? I would try calling PSB and see if they have any boxes. Even though they are discontinued they may have made extra for warranty.

I been looking for used speakers, but then a started thinking about how different the new model is compared to the old one. The old and new ones have the some tweeters and almost the some woofer (besides the dual magnets) the only thing that different is that new mid range.

I still think you will be making a mistake by mixing old with new speakers.

Tweeters look the same with the same part numbers.

First pic is Image B5 x-over. Then Imagine B x-over. 3rd pic, Imagine B driver is on the right.
Fantastic to get a definite answer! Thanks kiwi2!

I asked point blank at "PSB Lounge" support page and they ignored me.

It's also quite clear that your Image B5 and Imagine B (no x) drivers both sport the same dual magnets like my Image B6.

I don't suppose you noticed the capacitor values in your Imagine crossovers while you had them apart? Any more pictures?

Still planning to tweak my B6 crossovers. Will see what caps I can buy in Akihabara (Tokyo) e-town next week!

Hi
Looking for advice on my current setup. I am moving to another house and only have option for a smaller room to set my HT. I was wondering if there is an absolute minimum room size requirement. I have an Image T6 / C5 / S5 using X4000 and PC2000 Sub. Only room my wife is allowing me to use for HT is around 14X12. Do I need to change some of my gear. I shouldn't have a problem in selling some of this to my friend who is interested.

Thanks

While my room is larger, my usable space is 11.5 x 15. In there, I have two subs, and a Boston Acoustics VR-M series set (5 speakers) that is roughly analogous to the PSB Imagine series in quality (have a pair of Imagine B in my 2 ch rig, so I feel confident in my comparison). One of my subs is a PB 2000. You should have no difficulty making it work in that space. In fact, I would even go so far as to suggest a second sub down the line. But what you already have should work quite well.

Yes that is a lot of speaker for that sized room! It may be a challenge to find ideal speaker placement for enveloping sound without room reflections. I think DIY sound diffusers are in your future!

The S5 will be ok on the side walls maybe about 4' from the back wall. Try a few locations for best sound, as 1 set of drivers in each S5 each will be firing right at the wall!

You could certainly sell off your towers and go to bookshelf speakers, but then you need stands so not much space saving.

Nice gear, btw!
