Just saw a nice picture of the Silver 10 this morning. I must admit, that it's nice the speaker cone looks like the gold series https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=657687320942519&set=pb.139583142752942.-2207520000.1385020974.&type=3&theater
Not sure if it breaks any rules to link to a facebook page.

When I first hooked up my GX300s I thought they sounded a bit weak. I forget which, but either I hadn't hooked up the bridge or AVR was still set to small. Given the ability for the spiders and tweeters to be driven without the bridge, would I see a benefit by using my receiver as a biamp and removing the bridge?

Bi-amping on the same receiver is pretty much useless, all power comes from the same source anyways, so the answer in this particular case will be no.

Does anyone have any information or experience with the new Silver line? I'm particularly interested in Silver 2 or Silver 1. Not sure which of the two would be better for my front speakers.

What system are you trying to match? If it's not the new Silver line then you would likely be better off finding the similar sized speakers from the same set that you currently have.

They would be replacing front Yamaha NS-777 speakers which are now too big for my room (12 x 13 ft). I can't separate them more than 5 feet away due. Speakers from Monitor Audio caught my interest and I noticed they have these fresh new bookshelf speakers, but now that you've mentioned it I'm afraid if it would go well with my other equipment. Your advice is greatly appreciated.
  • Yamaha NS-C444 (center)
  • Yamaha NS-333 (surround)
  • Yamaha YST-SW216 (subwoofer)
  • Yamaha RX-A1020 (receiver)

Based on specifications from the official website I thought Silver 1 or Silver 2 would play well with my Yamaha's. However, this purchase would also mark the beginning of my detaching from Yamaha and embrace other brands as they appear to be doing a little better. I'm not quite sure in Yamaha's quality nowadays.

I'm using the RX2000 as the receiver with the RX6's & Center and that is a good combo. Not familiar with your speakers, but I've never been a believer in the surrounds necessarily having to be identical to the front, but it wouldn't hurt in your planning if changes are being planned anyway. The front 3 are usually better if from the same family and line. I use PSB Alpha's as surround and they work well, but I don't listen to multichannel music where it would likely matter more.

I am happy with my new BX5, Center and BX1s. With warm sound. Very good in listening long period of music. Surprised with the floor stander on movies. May be enough for movies.

I have no sub installed yet as I don't want to disturb my neighbors. I am in a townhouse setting. I wonder if these speakers needed a more powerful receiver since Marantz 1504 only has 50 watt per channel. Volume on 60-65 fills in the 13 width x15 long x 8.5 ceiling height already.

I've got my mind set on the RX6 AV12, but my gf has used her veto in the category "room decoration" because of the size of the center and surrounds. Our living room is about 8m long with an open kitchen on one end and the seating area on the other end, where also the windows are. In the seating area, the sofa is against the wall, the tv against the other wall. Wall to wall is about 3,5m.

We listened to the RX6s yesterday and she's fine with those. Also they are available for me at around 700 euro for a pair, a really good price.

I'm now thinking about getting the surrounds and center from the MA APEX series and use those. They have amazing reviews and are a lot smaller. I can't audition them anywhere though :(

My question is: would they sound good together?

I have an Onkyo TX-NR709, always have the radio or mp3 on in the background, now and then just sit down and listen to a cd, and play a lot of movies. I don't listen to multichannel music.

Any thoughts please?

You need to use your veto and get the rx center to match the rx6. The front LCR should be matched, but the surrounds are not as critical to match. I think that's a fair deal.

I don't think using my veto will work. I'm already happy we got to the point where we are spending this amount of money on speakers. Don't want to push it too far wink.gif

I know LCR should ideally be the same. But since it's the same brand and the speakers use the same techniques, I am hoping for a very similar sound. Is there anybody who has actually listened to both the silver and apex series? Anybody ever tried to combine different series from MA?

Combining never a good idea, at least not recommended. If you have approval for a center, then get the one that matches the left and right,

I'm looking for a center for my system. Looking at the RX center, but the least I have seen it is $575 shipped. Problem is, I can only spare 7 1/4' in height. Length and width, does not matter. The RX center is 7 5/16, so it would be a super tight fit, probably will not work. Any ideas??
