Thank you for your responses!

Yes the Moon/Parasound combo is most likely more than what I was looking to spend and not comparable to the AVRs. But, it did give me an idea of the capability of the silver 10's.

Honestly, I don't really need the new formats as of yet. I'm not really interested in Atmos and probably will stick with 5.1. The Cambridge units did intrigue me. I havn't really researched their reliability and such. Someone mentioned to me that the not so old Denon 4520 had a similar power output and stated that the new x7200 would likely be the same. But as was mentioned the likes of Nad, Cambridge put emphasis into the power supplies and preamps.

At some point I may want the latest surround formats. I am leaning toward separates.....

Thanks

It looks like it's in the way of the speaker, but it isn't.
Nevertheless, I rotated both speakers a little bit towards the middle, so no problems

The Simaudio processor is $18k. It has a significant amount of Denon parts in it. Of course they updated the power supply and other items but it is largely a Denon in a nice box with some upgraded components for SQ.

The price on the Cp8 is dropping like a lead balloon. The new HDMI standards w/4k have made it obsolete. They are showing up on ebay now for 4-5k new.

The combo did sound great and gave me an idea of the capability of the speakers. The high power of that parasound amp helped I'm sure. I believe it was either the A21 or A51.

Per Monitor Audio dealer locator, looks like not much in the way of a showroom or ability to demo in your area.
Saturday Audio in Chicago is an authorized MA dealer and usually has some specials on closeouts

I've been on the hunt for a serious upgrade to the speakers I currently have (Infinity Primus towers from 2008) and recently had a demo of the MA Silver 10's. I thought they sounded fantastic! Of course, they were being driven by one of the larger Parasound amps and I think a Moon processor but they sounded sweet.

Currently I just have an old Yamaha rxv992 which does fine with what I have but I'd like to upgrade everything. I'm not opposed to going separates but was wondering if any of you have had good success driving the Silver 8/10's with an AVR. I'm considering the 8's or 10's. I saw a few postings up where someone mentioned driving speakers with a Denon 100wpc amp. I believe the higher end Denon models have a decent 2 channel driven spec and they didn't drop too much when driving all channels. Well not as low as some other manufacturers. And, over in the Yamaha forums owners of the higher model Aventages seem to be having no issues driving 4ohm speakers. I looked a lot at the Cambridge CXR200 but for that price I may as well go separates.

That said, curious what some of your setups are. I need some ideas for my new setup

Thanks,
Zmeister
I recently revamped/upgraded my system. I took my home theater system and basically divided into a separate home theater system driven by a Yamaha AVR with MA Gold 50s for fronts. Then I built a 2 channel system with a PS Audio BHK 250 Amp (replaced a Parasound A-21) connected to a Moon Evolution 740p Pre-amp. My DAC and Transport are both Moon as well. Love SimAudio!..I swapped out MA Silver 10s for Gold 200s. But, I am not finished yet. I will replace the Golds with Magico S3s. The Magicos arrive late next week..so I have been told. If they don't workout then I will return to the MA family and replace them with the new Platinum.

You might also contact Crutchfield.com. They have a 60-day, money-back guarantee, at a cost of $20/box return shipping.

I recently bought a pair of Silver 6s and a Silver Center from them. So my in-home demo might cost me $60. A local audio dealer (doesn't carry MA) wants to charge me a $95 "service fee" to have their tech bring out floor samples to demo for an hour or two. So I figure Crutchfield's is a decent deal for an in-home listen.

FWIW, I'm a long-time customer and like their service, but otherwise have no affiliation.

Bronze BX Center vs Bronze Center

Monitor Audio - Bronze BX- Center and Monitor Audio Bronze Center, they each have a different looking bass drivers, C-CAM vs dished' C-CAM ?
Does anyone know the difference? I'm also considering the B&W HTM62 center, but the reviews seem to indicate there's problems with it?

I have the silver 8s. I think they are great - so great that I bought the GOLDS. Oh how I wanted to like the Golds, beautiful looking speakers. But I must say that I did not enjoy the Golds. They made my ears hurt.

Sold the Golds and got the B&W 803 d3. Very nice.

I still have the Silver 8s. Just love them. Enjoy they are great speakers!

Just a quick check in, I currently have a pair of RS6, and have a chance to buy an used RX8.

Will the improvement/differences be significant?

I'm currently using a Yamaha 3020 avr, b&w cm center 2 s2. Strictly running a 3.0 setup for HT purposes only. (My room and apartment limitations so no sub)
