If they were dropped in shipping then maybe the connection at the crossover or tweeters came loose? Are the speakers biampable, so the guy could have hooked up just the woofers and didn't know that he has to have a jumper to include the tweeters?

No, we're talking about mounting RB-81IIs -- they only have threaded inserts on the bottom, no keyhole bracket.

That occurred to me, but I won't buy the speakers for about a month, so I wasn't in a huge hurry to call 'em. Besides, I think modded side clamp brackets will work fine and I'm still optimistic that I could get pole mount wall brackets and pole mount adapters to work. Even so, calling them is a great idea and I'll definitely do it before I buy brackets. I'm just satisfied that I've found at least something that's satisfactory.

That sucks. I hope you get it resolved. I sold an Onkyo TX-NR905 receiver on eBay about two weeks ago that was working when I last used it but that the buyer couldn't get to pass video. I had to refund the buyer's money plus shipping and in the end let him keep the thing. It weighed a ton so it cost me about $70 to ship to him; I didn't want to pay another $70 to get the broken POS back. Basically, I paid $70 to give the thing away. I don't doubt that It was broken, I'm just pissed at Onkyo because that's two of two of their receivers that have died on me.

It's weird when that happens, makes you wonder about all the vibration and what not from shipping electronics. The good news is that I won't have to change anything anymore since Im finally happy with my setup. Sure took a long time to get there lol

Could the the mounts on the bottom of the 81s be meant for basic speaker stands? They would need to be held in place and you wouldn't want that big speaker falling on a child. Just tossing it out there as a possible use.

Klipsch Pro Cinema KPT-904 L/C/R, Pro Cinema KPT-1201-T2 for sides and RB-61 II for backs.

Not to go all Home Depot on you guys, but it's incredibly easy to find out the type of thread it uses, then it's just a matter of creating a custom stand that any woodworking youtuber can make in a day/weekend with paint/polyurethane. Heck I bet by the time you were done it'd look better than any thing you could buy and it'd cost you 30 bucks in materials.

Well, I thought about that too, but good luck making it out of wood, keeping it sleek/low profile, and making it adjustable for pitch and yaw. And I'm no welder so metal fabrication is a non-starter. I'm sure a DIY wall mount is possible, but not with my skill set and limited amount of patience and free time. I'll just drill a couple holes in the clamp-style mount, chuck the clamps in the trash heap, bolt the speakers to the freshly-drilled platform, and call it good. cool.gif

I've looked around with no luck. Any suggestions?

Sorry I quoted the wrong post. He mentioned there are plenty of articulating mounts that will fit the RS-52 ii. I don't want to place them behind I want to keep them at the sides. There are studs there in a good position.

In retrospect, I do wish I had wired for 7.1 so I could add speakers later but I didn't realize I would ever want to. Of course, spend enough time on these forums its incredible what you all of a sudden "have" to do in your theater. But 5.1 is good for now and I just want to dial in the room response first. And of course angle those speakers down smile.gif

Yeah I think that was Tasdom with the hinges. Unfortunately the orientation of the the holes on these is horizontal and not vertical like what Tas had.

A co-worker of mine has some Klipschorns for sale. Late 60's models. I've only seen pics but they look to be in very good cosmetic shape and also in good working order. He's asking $1650 for the pair. Good deal or no?

These may work for wall mounting rb-81: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_121AM40B/Pinpoint-AM40.html?tp=586

It has a hole in the bottom to put the screw through (I think). Supposedly its good for 50 lbs too.

This is al bad a specially when you sell it on Ebay, Ebay is paradise for buyers and sometimes nightmare for sellers. Many buyers take advance of Ebay rules and sellers have no right there. When I sell heavy or expensive items on Ebay I'm always afraid of problems.

So RB-81II have a screew holes on bottom? And how about RB-61II? If yes it could be easy to maybe even drill some extra holes to the bracket.

Ha ha, this is what we've been talking about for the last few pages. Yes, the 81s have threaded inserts on the bottom. The 61s have no mounting provisions at all. And yes, it appears that drilling holes into the bottom of that bracket would work for the 81s. I still think a pro-style post mount bracket and post mount adapter for the speakers might work too.

Double-check the spacing of the threaded inserts on your speakers, but it looks like this bracket might work well with the RS-52IIs.

Thanks that could work. But they only sell wholesale it looks like. I'll look around for it.
