That's ok I'm not gonna get it. I already tried it propped up on an automan reran cali. I think I just have bad stuffiness/alergy. That might be what happened last time when it sounded bad then I got the new stand and everything was great. What would the Klipsch thread be without me and my bi annual "WTF is wrong with my dialogue" visits, huh?

Hello all, I have a Klipsch KV3 center channel speaker, and I am considering purchasing one of the Bob Crites crossover repair kits and replacing the capacitors in the crossover. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with replacing the capacitors in this style crossover. It looks like the crossover is a small circuit board with the components mounted directly to it. Do you have to discharge the capacitors before removing them? Is it difficult soldering directly to the board like this? Is there a risk of overheating the capacitors during the installation? I am not very skilled with the soldering iron, and want to make sure I am not taking on more than I can handle.

Great take a picture when you hook them. Ok so any RCA will be ok for AVR to extra amp so just get some good quality and looks right ;-)

Best way to connect is bare wire, but banana to spade is more convenient. I use banana to banana.

I'm on the side that you can mix Heresy (I) with Heresy II, but then I mix Heresy II with speakers from the Cinema line.

I've only ever changed caps on the old styles crossovers mounted on a piece of wood. Anyone else?

I have all monster cable stuff for RCA to RCA (got it for free :-) with my speakers, but the Premium Monoprice cables are excellent. I have them for my XLR cables. You could go balanced to imbalanded, no idea if it would make a difference but it looks cool.

The premium monoprice RCA cable connectors are very tight for some reason. I have trouble plugging them in! The only monoprice product that I hesitae to recommend so far...

I would say they are firm to put on but no firmer than my monster cable RCA's.

You don't have to discharge the caps. They do it through the circuit. Piece of cake soldering on those boards. As long as you don't hold the iron on there for a long time, there is no danger in overheating the caps. I count to 5. 1,2 the iron is on the lead and trace hole. 3,4 apply the solder. 5 pull the iron. Don't forget to use no-clean solder and flux. The solder joint should be shiny and fills the hole.

I've bought a lot of cables from Monoprice also. The only ones I ever returned was some RCA's. They were so tight I was afraid I'd never get them off once I got them on.

Blue Jeans Cable has very nice RCA's (and others) for a fair price.

Let me jump in here. Do you guys think these jumper wires made an improvement of sound quality over the provided gold bars?

Just trying to get some testimonials.

Buy them because they look cool, but don't buy into them altering the sound.

Depending on your set up you might get several passing glimpses at the rear of the speaker over the course of the day.

I do with mine.

I was thinking of doing a nice DIY bi-wire. Again, just for looks.

Well I did buy them for looks but I think I gained some clarity and maybe 1-2 db's at reference volume. I'll have to do some more testing tonight though.

Pavel I'm being sarcastic. They do look very pro and are well built. I do pass by the backs of my speakers at times and can see the wires. You will have to rerun Audyssey after you get the Emo setup but not because of the jumpers.

It's like a veil was lifted. I'm hearing detail that I've never heard before. Much deeper bass, plucks of a guitar that I never noticed, vocals so refined that I feel the person is sitting right next to me.............

I could go on and on but I'd be lying cause actually, I can't tell a bit of difference!

However, I do feel better getting rid of the cheesy flat jumpers...ymmv

Hey guys. Haven't been here in a while. Just been enjoying my setup!

But I'm back with interesting info.
I have been working at an HHGREGG near where I live for about 3 years and just last week I learned we will now be carrying the new Klipsch Reference series!

I have no idea if this info has been released or already widely known but it's very exciting to me.

These are the models and I believe all HHGREGGs will be carrying these. We are getting most of this in tomorrow and will be slowly getting in the rest.
Models:

Subs
R-10SW, R-12SW
Surrounds
R-14S
Bookshelves
R-14M, R-15M
Center
R-25C
Floorstanding
R-28F, R-26F

We have only ever had the Synergy series, which are decent but man I'm excited!

Will be setting up what ever comes in tomorrow. I am really ecstatic to play with these. I'll post pics tomorrow!

These new Reference speakers have been discussed here before.

This new Reference line HHGregg and Best Buy is getting is intended to replace the Synergy and Icon lines. In fact, aside from the copper-colored drivers, they look practically identical to their Icon predecessors. They do not replace the higher-tiered Reference II line which will continue on in Klipsch's line-up.

Yeah I kinda had a feeling about that. I knew the ref II Line wasn't going anywhere. We have gotten the surrounds in already and they did seem a bit cheap, ie the grills do not come off. However I'm hoping they are a tad better than the icon series.

My room is 14' x 10' and I have the RF-82 Home Theater System. I initially bought them because the sales guy recommended them. Is speaker type size recommended by room size? Could I have gone with the RF-62 Home Theater System instead? What is the difference between the RF-82 and the RF-82 II set? Thanks.
