Hey guys I have a request for a recommendation. I mentioned earlier in the thread i got a pair of rf42 iis from frys for a (seems like they usually go for 239, at least ) 100 a piece, because they were the display model on clearance. So far I haven't managed to hear anything audibly wrong with them, and coming from old onkyo htib speakers they sound pretty amazing to me.
I'm still within return policy, so I wanna make sure:
I noticed there are a few dings on the ceramatellic part of the woofers, nothing too bad, no punctures or anything.
Based on the information above and the pictures attached, I have the following questions:
1. Is this kind of "damage" audible in any way? I'm no speaker expert but I put my receiver in stereo mode, turned off the sub and cranked the speakers quite high with different music and tv to see if I heard anything rattle or weird, but they sound great to me.
2. Would this condition be acceptable for the price I got them, or should I consider returning them and spending the extra 300 dollars on a new set? (I saved about 139 on each so that's a rough calculation)
3.am I supposed to register the speakers for warranty claims? What does klipsch ask for for this? (I'm not planning to do a claim, I Wanna know for future reference )
4. How long is the warranty on these speakers ? I used to work at frys so I know that open box product is sold there is still considered new by the manufacturer.

Thank you very much for your time

If you cant hear anything wrong then its all good. My woofer cones are in worse shape than that and it doesnt bother me as they still sound amazing. If you can afford an extra $300 for new speakers maybe you can afford the next size up? I have never stressed myself about warranty on any of my gear, since I started this hobby nothing has failed/blown up, and i do push my system.

Well I already took the plunge on two rs42iis and one rc42ii and a r12sw sub to pair with my rf42iis, so I would have to change those all out if get bigger fronts, and I don't feel like spending anymore lol. But think, I feel more at ease after your comment

Yea mate honestly I wouldnt worry about those marks, soundwise at least. And rest assured your setup is better than any htiab out there (I started with a sony surround thing). I did however keep upgrading and upgrading and am currently trying to both talk myself out of and talk myself into getting rf7iis. It is a sickness lol

Haha my partner just doesnt understand me. I let her buy her clothes/shoes/handbag or whatever, even buy her said items. In return she doesnt interfere too much with my gear, $5000 NZ is a bit harder to sneak past her though for rf7iis. One day...

I have dual PB2000's and have no problem pressurizing my 4800cf space. When set up properly, you won't be disappointed by SQ and SPL of low and mid bass. What speakers do you have and what AVR are you driving them with?

Very nice! I love the sound of SVS subs. I've had the PB12-NSD, PB-2000, PB12 Plus and now the PB13 Ultra. Sound great with my Klipsch speakers!

Frys sale is back on. Just picked up a pair of RB61s $240 shipped. I know it says open box, but when I ordered My RB41s last week they came new in a box. The following items are still able to be shipped and can be purchased online as of now.

RB61- $240
RB51 - $185
RS41 - $90
RS42 - $115.60
RF52 - $160

The only problem you may have is it only allows one per household. So if you wanted a pair of the surrounds, you'd have to be a little creative. Good Luck

Great!!! Please let me know if you have any questions relative to setting up your PB2000.

I'm actually going the other way, that is, just having ordered RF-82 II's and a RC-62 II to replace aging Def Techs. I just could not overlook the Klipsch reputation and aggressive pricing on the RF II series.

Right, my wife LOL'd me several time through the process of loading and unloading these beasts. SVS was awesome, had an issue with my NSD's grill after 2 years and they switched me to the PB-2000 for a minimal fee. Then I decided I wanted more oomph, so they let me return the PB-2000 and pay the difference for the PB12 Plus. The one I got was defective, so I decided to jump to the Ultra. Sounds excellent with my Klipsch system.
