The IKEA building is enough of an eyesore (I can see it from an airplane, no joke). How did I miss that we were getting a store four times that size?!

You should enjoy them for longer time, they are not bad at all. Of course they are not RF-7's and RC-64 but still pretty amazing system.

Ready for my first _real_ home theater system.
(currently use a YSP 1100 sound bar)

Listening preference:
50% music / 50% tv+movies.
Starting budget ~$1200.

I've settled on the RF-82ii speakers for the fronts.
I might stick with just the two to start, and then slowly add a center and some surrounds later.
(do you think I should also grab the center now given all of the rf ii clearances?) Will these totally sell out and be unattainable soon?

For a receiver I was thinking either:

Marantz 1403 - $299 new - but no easy hookup for iphone
Marantz 1504 - $499 new
Denon X2000 - $299 refurb
Denon X3000 - $399 refurb
Onkyo 626 - $269 new

Any other suggestions?
I'd rather not buy a $800 receiver. I figure once I buy a 4K tv in a few years, I will just buy a new receiver.
(no sense in paying for features I will not use).
So my current thinking is to just buy something minimal for now (especially since I won't have 5.1 for quite some time.)

For the speakers, I see $400 each advertised at many places.
NFM had them and was ready to deal but shipping to MA killed it...
I did call acousticsounddesign and they did not seem to want to budge on the price at all.
Will call sound distributors.

It looks like a few people prior found them for $250 each? yikes! for that price I would certainly buy the 2 fronts and the 1 center to get started.

cheers
Have you considered buying used speakers? Deals can be found. Here's a listing on the Klipsch site, he's in SC….https://community.klipsch.com/index....riginal-owner/

Its along the same stretch of highway as IKEA, just to the West a few miles, I know you can't miss it if you're driving along that road on 121 (Sam Rayburn Tollway).

I had not considered used. I figured with the clearance new would not be much more expensive than used. But I will take a look - thanks!

edit
After a bit more calling around, I am not finding many willing to budge from the $400 / rf-82 ii.

Some dealers were more willing to deal on the new rp-280F. (~470 each).
Is anyone shopping for the new rp-280F? what sort of prices are you finding?

Now I am starting to consider just going with the newer rp-280f...hmm

There are deals on used if that's an option. Also, if you're somewhat handy have you considered a DIY kit? Here's a kit you assemble yourself, everything's included...http://www.parts-express.com/dayton-...r-kit--300-770
