Hi, I recently upgraded my front speakers from dali zensor1 to klipsch rb61 ii and I am bit disappointed. The dali, I don't know, sounded just better, not sure how to explain it. Unless I raise the volume a lot on the rb61, they just don't sound anything like the dali. Both speakers are considered bright so I don't think that is it. Even when I play the music as two channel at relative low volume I am not that impressed with the rb61. Is my receiver under powered or are the characteristics of these speakers that different? Can it be a configuration issue?

Here is my configuration
3.1 configuration
Room, 7m x5m
Receiver yamaha rx475
Front klipsch rb61
Center dali vokal center
Sub warefendale
sw150

I have the speaker set to small and cross at 60. The back of rb are cross amped.

I would expect the Dali to sound better in movies currently since they are a match for your center. The klipsch plus that center probably doesn't blend as pleasantly. As for 2 channel, that's a different story, and you may simply like the dalis more. Have you run any room correction since getting the klipsch? Did you run any with the Dali speakers?

I have a pair of RB61II's for a two channel setup. I run them as large full range. Don't bi-amp them that is useless as they are sensitive speakers and don't need much power to open up. I actually am very impressed at what they can do.

Hi,

I'm back to the drawing board with which dual-subs to pick up...

  1. SVS PB-2000
  2. PSA XV15SE
  3. Rythmik F12G
I will be putting together a Klipsch package with a Yamaha receiver...
  1. Klipsch RP-280F towers
  2. Klipsch RP-450C center
  3. Klipsch RP-250S surround
  4. Yamaha RX-V677 7.2-channel Wi-Fi Network AV Receiver with AirPlay
All suggestions/comments/feedback/tips & tricks are welcome. I'm confused with which one to pickup and hence looking for advice.

Regards,
Paras

I'm also leaning towards PSA given their build quality. Even exchanged emails with Tom Vodhanel. However, haven't got some real feedback from people who have used/compared PSA. As far as the reviews, PSA XV15SE has some good reviews whereas PB-2000 has a more amazing reviews. I did read this chart and there are people in AVS who are challenging PSA's claim. So just wanted to be sure before I bite the bullet of going with PSA.

The guy you emailed at PSA is the "V" in SVS.

The good news is you don't have to make a decision based on reviews or our opinions. I've had both SVS and PSA subs in my home and you have the opportunity to audition both without penalty. Specs provide only part of the story. Only your ears in your environment listening to your source material will determine what is right for you. Good luck in your quest.

I have 2 SVS PB12 Plus subs and 2 PSA XV15SE subs in the same room and they match up well. When shopping for a 2nd pair of subs to go with my Pluses, I ordered an XV15se and PB2000 then compared them all over my room using the same material. I tried them with the Pluses and alone...even tried pairing them together.

In the end, I chose to send back the PB2000 and ordered the 2nd XV15se. I really liked the PB2000 as it had that SVS sound and really let you know it was there.. but when push came to shove, the XV15 was physically shaking my sofa during many movies where the PB2000 did not (Godzilla 2014- scene with Godzilla crashing through the bridge being a prime example).

I hope that helps some!

PS- I will always recommend ordering both and having your own subwoofer face off. It really helps with the "what ifs" after the fact because you've heard them both.

Agree. The XV15SE and PB2000 actually sounded quite different to my ears. Which one is better is really a matter of personal preference, in your own room.

Good thing about JTR, SVS and PSA, you get a lot of output and low THD for roughly the same price. Granted I think when you look at the JTR1400 and the new v3600, the PB13u may be asking a little much when compared to the competition. But, SVS has also branched out and their pricing may not be a fair comparison against these smaller ID companies.

The VTF15 mark 1, when pushed, does have more THD than those. Something they may have fixed in the mark 2 with better driver and amp.

That JTR1400 is just stupid powerful, but, its not as pretty as the PB13u either. Big and ugly vs finesse.

I am willing to bet you see a PB15/18 ultra and it will be a monster too.

2 PB12+ and 2 XV15SE...WOW...it looks like a dream setup for any HT enthusiast. How do you handle so much bass man. It must be shaking your entire house,
I haven't heard too much about PSA so was trying to get some honest opinion and I agree with you that numbers don't always matter...it's listening to sub in person and then deciding which one to go for.

Well budget is a constraint at this point in time. I had a max budget of $1500 but after email exchange with Tom, I can stretch to pickup XV15se for $1700. That will be like end of line for me. So picking two XV15se is something I was thinking considering that they will compensate for one big sub like PB15/18 or JTR1400. Your thoughts.

Depending on your room, two subs can really help response. I did not gain a lot of output by the meter with the second VTF15, but the overall kick in the chair was increased noticeably. More rattles too...

I am also dealing with a very large room.

I haven't heard too much about PSA so was trying to get some honest opinion and I agree with you that numbers don't always matter...it's listening to sub in person and then deciding which one to go for.
Unfortunately, due to an open floor plan and 25' ceilings...my living room eats subs for breakfast I ended up with the 2 XV subs in an attempt to get some tactile feedback by putting them nearfield. The XVs put out more volume than I can remotely handle at that range.

Good luck on your decision!

Depending on your room and number of seating positions IMO one really, really good sub would be the best choice (if you can get it to work within the a fore mentioned constraints).

The JTR 1400, Reaction Audio Echo 18 or PSA's new V3600 (at the intro pricing of only $100 more than 2 XV15ses).

If your partial to PSA (no reason not to be) the V3600 will have more than double the output of a pair of XV15s.

So if you have the space and think one sub will do, the V3600 for the price is hard to beat.
