they sound good when you compare them to say klipsch icons which imo are painful to listen to, but as someone who has demoed rf7s on a nice system (not through a receiver) and who owns 4 sets of klipsch towers(including the best ever made imo
), when you get to a certain level of klipsch, the sonic signature starts to sound very similar and then we start nitpicking to hear differences. where the rf7s shine is bass extension so if you are using subs you may never hear a hill of beans worth of difference.
having said that, i have never heard the really high end klipschs like la scala or khorn.
what speakers do you use?
I have my crossover set at 80 hz on my 7's and 64, so bass extension plays no factor for me - my Ultra does the dirty work. Overall clarity, imaging, and sound were much improved from my 62's. To be fair, my room is very large, the impact someone with a smaller room would have if they made the switch could be minimal.
