Hi guys,

Just lost my Klipsch virginity,

Purchased myself a pair of Cherry RF-7II's today to run in a stereo set up with a Rotel RA 1592. Looking forward to picking them up for some large listening sessions!

I auditioned some RP280F and some B&W 683's I liked the 280's way more. So using logic settled on the RF-7II's.

I have both, I never auditioned the 7ii's before the upgrade either, it really is a BIG deal. I was very happy!

I have a large room and it filled it effortlessly. I don't know how much a difference it would make in a smaller room. The 82ii's are no slouch by any means. I would assume they could fill a small-ish room to ear bleading clear levels. Good luck.

If you like the 82's your gonna love the 7's. No audition needed imo. I went from 52's to 62's to 7's. Never auditioned any of them either. I already had the Synergy series so I pretty much knew the Reference line was gonna sound sweet.

Nice choice on the Rotel integrated. I own several Rotel pieces and am pleased with all of them.

I owned the 280F and now own the RF-7II. The RF-7II are not as bright IMO (a good thing). I say "not as" bright, because I still find the RF-7II to be too bright at times when the level is pushed. Reducing the treble to -2 creates a good balance in my system/room.

Thanks to all who commented/replied to my post. So I missed the RB-75's I was going to bid on the bay.... sold for 300 + 100 shipping!! They were scratched and the covers were pulled in places, but the seller said they were fully operational and sounded great.... oh well... Dang it!!

On the RF7 subject.... so it looks like $1,700 shipped (cherry) is about the best I can find... Anywhere else I should look? I also see the going rate for RF-82's in black is $600. used. Mine are cherry and in as new condition... could I get another 100 bux for them based on that?...... maybe?

I cant act right now.... but probably by mid December.... I would think with the larger drivers in the 7's wouldnt sound as bright. My room currently which is temporary, but it will be a while before the basement is done.... so for all intents and purposes, this is the room for a while.... is 21'x16' but is 18' high... flat ceiling. Before I moved here I had my basement finished at the old house and the room was 13x15x8' high.... so the RF-83's got a bit smaller when I moved here....

Harman Kardon AVR 3600

Emotiva XPA-3

Klipsch RC 62II Center

Nice. Got roped into some computer work for my wife tonight so I cranked NIN's The Downward Spiral on the 2.1 Klipsch computer speakers. Don't think I'd listened to it all the way through in at least 10 years, sounded great!

New to forum been a long time reader, I currently have a set of RF 52 first gen looking at rf7 first gen and have the opportunity to buy them for 800, question is it worth it to other RF-7 (not Rf 7ii) owners?

Hi, I am looking a 2 pairs of Klipsch surround speakers and thinking of getting the Klipsch RS-42 II. Can anyone reccommend the wallmount for these? It's listed on Klipsch website that the weight is 11.9 lbs.

Many thanks.

If you're attaching it directly to a flat wall without having to angle it, it's pretty straightforward.

They have a keyhole on the back of the speaker so typically you get a sufficiently-rated screw, drive it into a stud with about a quarter inch sticking out, and hang the speaker on it. If you don't have a stud in the right place, you can try a sufficiently-rated wall anchor. I think you'd probably be fine with that for the RS42s.

The speaker comes with four self-adhesive rubber feet that you attach to the back rather than the bottom; these help to support the speaker against the wall and also isolate it from the wall. When applying them, definitely make sure that the speaker and rubber feet have had sufficient time to come up to room temperature. I ran into problems with my RS62IIs where I was too excited to mount them and didn't let them warm up enough--the adhesive would not cooperate at all and it was pretty frustrating. Also make sure they're really stuck on before hanging them; I recommend letting them sit on their backs on a hard, flat surface overnight/for a few hours to really make sure they're on. You don't want the feet to pop off while you're sliding the speaker down the wall when you hang it.

Good luck and enjoy your speakers! I liked my RS42IIs a lot, though I have been very pleased with the upgrade to the 62s.

One other note about the RS line... the posts for the wires are too close to the wall to make banana plugs practical. I put spade style connectors onto my wires and have been pretty happy with that.

Also your life will be a lot easier if you attach the wire to the speaker before you hang it. :-)
