Do you think the Yamaha A2060 will be able to handle a 5.1.2 setup or should I look at an external amp like an Emotiva XPA-3 or A-700/A-500 to run L,C,R and leave everything else to it?

My HT use is 95% movies/tv shows and a 5% music at around -15 to -20db.
My AVR is rated at 40 or 45 watts/channel (depending on the info source) and I have no issues with power.

The RS42 II are on Amazon for almost half off original price.

How well would these work with my current set up? Mains are RF-62II's, center is RC-62II and I am using R-15M's for surround and SVS PB-2000 for sub.

Much better than the R-15M's and would also match your fronts better.

Go for RS-52II or RS-42II

Thanks, was just concerned the RS-42II's might not keep with the rest of the system.

I have 42ii's in my rf7 system and feel they keep up just fine. Would the 52/62 be better probably a little. Placement is a large factor. I am about 5-7' from my surrounds and about 17' from my front stage

Has ano owner of Klipsch speakers, in particular the RP-280Fs, noticed any differences when run with a Marantz AVR like the 7010 and a Marantz integrated amplifier like the PM8005? Are the 125W of the SR7010 better at driving the RP-280Fs against the 70W of the PM8005? And which one "sounds better"?

So isn't there any trickle down, even a little?

Perhaps so but they are both speakers/cars. If I don't know the best all the way to the worst I might miss a great deal. It isn't always "you get what you pay for", although I do agree with it most of the time I've been on both ends that more than once. I try to compare everything possible to get as full and complete a picture as possible. As I stated The Khorn is a great speaker but I can't afford them and don't have the corners and size room needed to make room placement work. I had three Altec Lansing Voice of the Theater front LCR speakers which were really fun but not exactly the Khorns, but close in many respects. I'm just looking for the best and most fun speakers I can afford. I was just surprised the RP was so far below what I expected. I had hoped in the last 40+ years (with all the advancements in the electronics, build, etc. of current speaker technology) there might be something closer to the Khorns at a much reduced price. I had a couple of AR 2AX that sounded better (not near the power) than the RP. There doesn't seem to be a lot of reduction in costs vs. sound quality improvement with all the supposed technological improvements that should be trickling down. There are certainly many more choices. I haven't auditioned a lot of speakers in the last few years but now is the time so I'll be giving many of these and other speakers a second and third listening. Oh, by the way my center Voice of the Theater had its huge metal horn go out. I took it to the only full time speaker repair in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area and asked if I would be able to replace these speakers without sacrificing what they could produce. The answer was "no way". I still regret having to sell them but I moved to a much smaller home so I gave them up.
I was an Air Force musician (and long time director/teacher) performing in the Strategic Air Force Command Band (Barksdale AFB) and the 501st Band of the Pacific (Hickam AFB) throughout the Midwest and Pacific. I want life like sounding speakers that make music, not noise, and can handle with clarity and impact (not noise) kick butt movies. Any suggestions for the best available speakers that closely (as much as possible) replicate classical orchestra and wind ensemble music as well as being great with block buster movies would be much appreciated. I don't want to spend over $4k/pair (front L & R) for the beginning of a Atmos surround system.

I can let you know shortly. I just ordered a mm7025(2 channel) to pair with my 6010 to run my rf7ii's. What I can tell you is had an Emotiva XPA-3(200wpc) and really noticed no difference from my then HK3700(125wpc). I bought the 7025 because I sold some old gear and had money to burn. If the XPA-3 didn't improve the sound, I doubt the 7025 will either.

Klipsch has easily driven highly efficient speakers that do not require a lot of power to drive to ear bleeding levels. I would say any noticable differences would come at levels you and I would not be comfortable listening at.

Cool thanks for the feedback. If you're rockin' FR7's they'll be fine with my set up. I'm about 13ft from my front stage and a little over 3-4 ft from my surrounds.

Need some final thoughts about below combination of speakers. are these good for 7.2.4 setup ?
Will use Marantz AV7702MKII for Pre/Pro
Rotel RMB1585 will power primary 5 channels (FL, FR, Center, SL, SR)
other 6 channels ( SBL, SBR, ceiling 4 speakers) will be powered by Emotiva XPA6 Gen3

Klipsch Reference Premiere RP280F L & R
Klipsch Reference Premiere RP450C Center
Klipsch Reference Premiere RP250S Surrounds L & R
Klipsch PRO-7800-S-THX Surround Back In-Wall L & R
Klipsch PRO-7502-L-THX for Height1 L & R and Height2 L & R

Cheers

There's a guy who's got pictures all over the internet of RS-42 IIs with his Klipschorn/Heresy front stage.

They'll keep up just fine. Even though I have no idea what keep up means in speakers.

Physics is still physics...

Too bad you needed to downsize.... I have a pair of Klipsch MWM (double) bass bins that you could have had (for free)

Slap a Klipsch K402 on top and you'd have something that will walk all over a Khorn at a fraction of the price.

it is however, "slightly" larger...
