The wood veneer is really wood. You can sand it down and repaint it. The poly stuff is wood-looking wallpaper. Don't look exactly similar.

That's what I was thinking. Thought it might be worth the difference.

My RP-450ca arrives tomorrow and I'm stoked, but I'm kinda in a problem now.I want to get the RP-280F's but I also want to get the outlaw 5000 amp.only have a budget of around 1100 right now so obviously can't get both at the moment.Just would it be better to get the amp to feed the rest of my speakers better,I'm running a Yamaha rx-a2050 with all nine channels being used.

I do have one question though....what made you decide to go with red and white panels? Reason I asked is because when you turn off the lights do the panels itself go dark where you can't see them or can you see white and red when looking up still when lights off?
they are actually grey, but they are 14ft from screen. All panels by screen on walls are black/burgundy. Those panels are not seen at all during movie only with lights on and camera flash. Camera flash makes them look white.

Lol...Not yet. I'm going to wait for the 4K standard to stabilize before jumping in. I just got done buying my new ATI 7-channel amp. Probably jump up to 4K this time next year. You know, when everyone else is going to 8K. Lol

I think you will be fine for now as how efficient these speakers are.
Although I have thought about adding a two channel power amp to drive my fronts separately so more power can go to the other 5 channels.

I'm excited to be picking up two RP-260f's front speakers today but I had a questions about center matching. Is it critical to get an RP center channel, or will one from the reference series do as well? Like can I go R-25c vs RP-250c on the center? Also on surrounds will bookshelves from the references series work ok?

If given the choice between excellent condition KLF-20s and the matching center, or RF-7s (or RF-7ii) and an RC-7, which would you pick?

I've been wanting to go up to RC-7s from my current RF-3s and RC-3 that I've had since 1998 or 99. I may be able to get my hands on the KLF-20s but am not sure which would be better for my system.

Currently using a Pioneer Elite SC-65 to power my speakers, and I don't see myself upgrading any time soon.

Best to keep all speakers in same line as possible since not all models will have same exact voicing.

In HT they don't sound bright, the newer lines aren't bright in music either, something I am going to take care of when the RF-7 III comes out, I love the RF-82's for movies but for music they can be great to downright awful.

Probably a wise choice. I jumped into 4K (PJ and 203) late last year and going through all the growing pains of early adopters...especially with HDR and non standard standards. It's people like me who will make things much smoother for you!

I ordered the RF-7 ii pair today. I'm pretty pumped. Felt like the authorized seller gave me a great price. Never priced them before, so don't know if it has dropped in preparation for version iii.

I don't have much urge to upgrade my RC-62 ii to an RC-64 ii. I wish I could find a used RC-7 instead.

are these new klipsch rp speakers really fixed the fingers on chalkboard problem with the tweeters?

i have emp towers and center and while i like them a lot they just dont have that alive fun sound for movies. i guess theyre too neutral?

im actually looking at psa speakers but if i can spend less.....i can get front 3 klipsch rp line for around half the price of the psa's

i read great things about this new rp line and especially that 450 center.

Well, I just got my RP-150ms today. I can't blast them right now, but preliminary listening is great. I unhooked my RF-82 II, hooked up the RP 150m, upped the mains trims 3db to make up for sensitivity differences, set Audyssey to F/R bypass, left the crossover at 80 Hz, and at moderate levels, they sound great. The Reference II sound great to me, but that is after setting the Audyssey reference curve on. They do sound slightly harsh at the flat or bypass settings at loud levels, at least with some analog mastered to digital music.

ETA:
Turned off the subwoofers. Amazing how good these sound with rock music at low to moderate levels even with no subwoofer.

The RP series is a better speaker than the emp teks. And the RP series tamed down the brightness issue using rubber coating around the horn vs hard plastic. I haven't heard PSA speakers so can't say. And they sound great for music too.

Tell you what! I've decided that WHEN and IF I upgrade to Palladiums, I will hold a lottery and gift my 7's to one of you lucky winners!

Hmmm...just visited the Klipsch website and all references to the Palladium series says "product sold out." Did I miss something?

WOW Thanks! I didn't hear/know that...I recall a half off sale last year that got me wondering but nothing about discontinuance...must have been asleep at the wheel! I wonder if there is a high end replacement in the works or will the RF-7 III be the top of the line now?
