Wow. I'm so different. I have had my La Scala for 30 years now, and designed a room around one used as center speaker (wall inset). There's no way I'm trying something else.

yeah before I got my Ultra2s, I thought about JTR's as well... in the end since I dont have a dedicated space I decided against it... Kutlow price is tempting indeed, but I'm staying put with what I have. The Ultra2 work in my space and lifestyle, I dont think I can get better performance in that size.

I don't think that would be the unit for RF-7 owners.

yeah I'd pass on that as well.. I had a Krell Showcase which has similar power per channel as the UPA-7... it was a no go at the topend.

well what can say about the UPA-7 ... Awesome to say the least
it had me getting chills up & down my back
Yes the Depth, detail, fullness I was looking for came forward
my 15" woofs in the 4 CornScala's came Alive !
i had never heard the mid bass sound soo well from those speakers
listened to a live soundboard of The Grateful Dead's "Walk Me Out In The Morning Dew " & it was lump in the throut time
put on the Blu-Ray of David Gilmore's "Remember that Night"
Yeah way better !
& I haven't even re-ran Audyssey yet

can't wait to get the wides up
just about done on the cabs to the CS-1.5's ( just need to buff the Carnuba wax out ) soo that will happen tomorrow or this weekend .
I'm back to listening, I will give a detailed account later
But I can say It's a great addition to the system'
Headroom FTW !
top end ? I couldn't go there , the threshold of pain was setting in

Finally settled in with Fortes and newly added Academy(replaced the RC-35). No surrounds(not in this room anyway), just a sub. Sounds complete except now just dealing with the hard surfaces I did not have at other house. Using the Heresys in the other room. I found another Rotel 981 so Im mono with the fortes(360w ea.)

See what I mean? Just one day after typing it, I feel silly. One of the key factors in my ability to upgrade in the past was that my wife could hear real, tangable improvements. This time, I don't think I could tell her with a straight face that we needed something better.

But hey, sometimes it's not about improving, it's just about curiousity of something different. I call it the "MKtheater" syndrome. (respectfully )

I had a several hour demo of the Danley SH50's as a front three with my subs. These are the speakers that Kutlow is wanting to "upgrade" to. The differences in their potential for home theater and the LaScalas was sideways in my mind. So, if the T12's fall somewhere between the two, then I don't think the differences are in performance at all....only tone and characteristics.

well, if you think about it, You pay $800 for 5 channels of 200 watts, in turn, you pay $1600-$1700 for 400 watts. Its like buying two xpa5.

audioholics wrote a review on the UPA-7 which I read a while back. They were basically showing that Emotiva's numbers were not correct on the UPA7. They didnt get the full watts per channel that they claimed.
