I just stumbled onto this thread. Great stuff!!!

However, that one pic of the giant speaker with the bare-chested, chubby guy leaning on it gives me the "boo-boo-jeebies", to quote Chef from South Park!!

That is ugly!

Finally, some good contribution that aren't horns! A big square box with a bunch of drivers in it is much much uglier than any horn. I can't understand why someone would say a Klipsch La Scala is ugly. It looks like furniture more that it does a speaker. The only reason it doesn't pass WAF is sheer size. Imagine the same thing in a 2x2x3 inch cube (rather than feet) and it would be cute.

Remember, it's called "AV Science"!

Craigsub, may I suggest that you find another wig? The one you are wearing is clearly not showing your best side

This is definitely the best post of the thread

i actually like a lot of these older speakers posted. It's the black junk made in the 1980's along with too much plastic, a coloured highlight trim, also anything with really bad looking fake wood. I have no problem with square woofers. Now metal covers... they suck. Wood is okay from my perspective.

The ugliest speakers in my estimation are the avant guard ANYTHINGS. I'd vote for these:

As a horn speaker fan I think these are beautiful but yes I can see how many people would find them anything but.

Going only on the pix and ignoring all text, it is usually difficult to distinguish this thread from the one asking for the best-looking speakers.

If you think my Portable Sub is difficult to distinguish from the best-looking speakers you should seriously reconsider your current career choice.

Well, I included the word "usually" with the intention of excluding your Portable Sub from the generalization. Still, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I saw a Pair of KLH horn loaded Floorstanders that were ugly! I Saw a Pair of Walsh speakers that looked like a box with a dunce cap and a meatl cage on top! Thw woofer was a gigantic party hat shaped driver. it looked too loud to play at volume level 3 on my SOUNDESIGN Receiver! I Could ALWAYS break the noise Ordinace if I had those (I hate those things)

It can never be too loud!

My Linkwitz Plutos, with the periscope look and genuine sewer pipe enclosures.

I used miter joints on the bases containing electronics so the plys aren't visible, but it wasn't enough to help the overall look.

They sound exceptional for the price, and very good on an absolute scale when you ignore the last octaves.

Post pictures of the ugliest speakers you have ever seen or owned. Who cares about sound, its about UGLY….

These are speakers we would never let anyone see us with and if in the garage we would hide them behind tires or something. If found with them in our possession we would say, “I have no idea how they got there”.

If you remember a brand or model, do a internet search, someone is bound to have some pictures of the speakers you remember. Maybe you come across some really ugly speakers on Ebay, if so, show us… Lets laugh a little guys.

My first choice….. These look so ugly they would make a good case for the wife to leave home.

Enjoy,
