Norwegian review of Uniti Atom with Dynaudio C30s. https://view.joomag.com/stereo-nr-6-...1696/p44?short

You will have to use google translate to read it as it's in Norwegian language but the jist of it is...

Clarity- It is solid, steady, precise, beautiful, resolved, transparent and engaging, but without intrusive, forward or excessive energetic sound signature. Is neutral and it has a clarity that is very impressive.

Bass- The deep bass drunk in the bottom is tight, basement type and powerful, and it is surprisingly rich in details.

I saw the Datasat electronics listed, and thought of you right away,I kind of figured you might be involved. Is the C -60 "cinema series" somehow different to the regular 60?Myself I got some good news today...apparently my special 40's arrived at my dealers on Tuesday,he has been running them in for me ever since,24/7.He has gone away on vacation for the weekend, back Tuesday,so I told him I will pick them up a week from today. That should give them plenty of time to break in,as long as there are no power outages this weekend.I asked him his initial thoughts,he said they are a beautiful looking speaker, and right out of the box,the mid's and high's were exceptional, the bass seemed a bit restrained,he said, but should loosen up this week.He is also breaking in some new electronics with them,so it was hard to really make any judgement,he said...pretty excited to finally have them in my reach.

Nothing to do with Contour 60s at all. It is interesting that while they are made for Cinema, they are as impressive with two channel as surround. In some ways even more so. I will share all kinds of pics right after the unveiling on Thursday morning. If any of you can make it to Cedia I would be happy to get you into the demo and give you the grand tour of the suite. I am there from Tuesday on.

Is there anything wrong for saying that the contour 20 uses dual ferrite vs the neodymium in the special 40?

It is similar to M3VE and M3XE and those were epic but it is more than speakers that creates this system.

x38 versus focus 260

Hi everyone, looking for some advice, I have been looking to buy x38s but came across some 2nd hand focus 260s. Just wondering if any of you have demoed both. I know the treble response would be better in the 260s but am wondering about the bass and midrange compared to the x38, since I would not be able to demo the 260s before buying them. I really liked the bass response in the x 38s.

Also do you think an excite center speaker would match the focus?

Thanks

Will you be using a sub? if so, the difference in bass will be negligible

I think the F260 should satisfy your wants/needs. I would seriously recommend checking into using the sub when you listen to music as well. the best place for low-frequency sound to originate is rarely the same place as your speakers. This will also alleviate your amplifier and speakers of LF burden during music, which will allow greater peak transients as well.

I plan to pick up a Rythmik F15hp at some point (servo sub), which should be great with music as well as movies

Ha ha. This is exactly what happened to me when I got my F260s.

If you are getting a good deal on F260s, go ahead and buy them. They have a ton of bass but more importantly they are more transparent and neutral speakers. Better clarity and sound stage compared to excites.

Which amp are you planning to pair the F260s with?

I would highly recommend YOU listening to them both and make the determination yourself... I demo'd the x38's but ended up going with F340's (and 260's for that matter) without even hearing them, I definitely wasn't disappointed.

That should be fine. Just one thing that Focus are power hungry speakers. :-) So more power is always good. As Yonson mentioned do keep on looking at Agon for a 210 center or call dedicated audio and see if they have one from the old stock.

Unfortunately I cannot answer this as all I've ever used my 260's for is surrounds... I was originally going to get 160's and Stand 6's but ended up getting F260's for only $500 more, was a no brainer for me.

While I never owned the x38. I did audition them and the 260 together. The x38s are hands down easier to drive then the focus. If you have a standard receiver it amp then the vegas cites will perform better. The 260 will be a bit more refined then the excites. There is no lack of low end with the 260s as I preferred running them without a sub for music. Movies was a different story. The jump is not going to be night and day so it really is going to be dependent if you were satisfied with x38s sound. Also depends on the price and condition of the pair. You won’t go wrong with either one assuming size isn’t a factor. Just my 2 cents. Jeff
