I'm in Tapatalk now and it's not great either. When I click the email link it opens great. But from a mobile device I have to hit back 3 times to get to the email. Back once to AVS Forum main menu. Back again to Tapatalk menu, back again to the email.

Is there a better way?

Hear me now, Listen to me later....

I just really liked the feature of the old site, letting you know if any of your subscriptions had new posts or whatever from the main page.

There is a spot for you to click on 'view first unread post' just above the first post. But I agree I also like to see how many unread posts. Oh but look new smilies. That makes up for it!! NOT!

I am looking to buy a integrated amp for my Dynaudio speakers...currently Focus 140, but looking to upgrade to C1 Mk2...and am seriously considering Musical Fidelity M6 500i as well as Audio Research DSI 200. Both have received excellent reviews. I don't have the opportunity to audition either of them before I buy. Does anyone have experience with these integrateds? How well would they pair with Dynaudio?

LSL...while I admit to personally having heard neither; I feel I can at least add an opinion here.

First...I don't think you can make a bad choice, between those 2 pieces. ARC is my favorite maker these days...and the DSi-200 has tempted me on several occasions. OTOH...several members have good results, with Dyn and MF; and the M6 500i is a brute of an IA. Plus...it's conventional A/B; whereas the DSi-200, is class-D. The old adage used to be...Dyns no likee class-D; because they respond to current, not just power. But a) I'm not quite sure I buy that argument, and b) class-D has changed a LOT these days.

I understand not being able to audition...but I think this is too close to call, without hearing for yourself. Do you plan to buy used? I know it can be a little daunting; but if you buy at a good price...you could always try both, and sell the "loser". Hopefully, without losing your shirt

And not to make your choice even harder...but are you a glass man by any chance? In that price range, there are some really nice tube units to be had...and they sing with Dyns. Like this http://app.audiogon.com/listings/tub...t-greenbush-ny

I have to tell ya...I never quite bought the hype behind Octave. I have no doubt they're good; but just so damn expensive. But a guy I bought a tube IA from, told me he's been listening to tube amps for 40 years in the hobby; and some serious stuff. And he said he has NEVER heard anything, like the V40SE he tried. Gotta take that kind of rhetoric seriously! Also...since you mention ARC; the VSi-60 is a sweetheart of an IA...and made my C1 Sigs soar! Also...I can recommend PrimaLuna, without hesitation! They're having a big sale right now...and in your budget, you could easily swing a ProLogue Premium or DiaLogue One IA (and still have money left over, to roll some tubes! I have it on the best authority...that not only will these units auto-bias, so you can roll EL-34s, 6550s, KT88s, KT90s, 6L6GCs, KT66s, 7581s, EL37s...or any equivalent; but, they easily accept KT-120s, and the Premium and DiaLogue lines have been cleared for the beastly KT-150s!)

Oh...and because I haven't made your choice more difficult already (although maybe you're not a glass man at all, and the tube units aren't contenders); if you're looking to settle-down with a quality IA...the Conrad Johnson CA-200, should definitely be on your list http://app.audiogon.com/listings/sol...-midlothian-va (no affiliation). It may not "wow" you; but it is quite possibly, the most "musical" unit I've ever had in my system (and I've had plenty...lol )

Man, exciting; let us know how it turns out!

I've heard MF M3i unit obviously not the one you're after tho. I have heard the DSi200. I've heard the ARC VSi60 CD mentioned, the Octave V40SE, V70. I have heard many other units as well. I own Naim.

IMO the DSi200 sounded smaller and more forward then the VSi60. The V40SE sounded more powerful then the VSi60 and more neutral yet still had a fluidity that tubes offer. But for some reason I liked the vsi60 more musically but felt the octave was overall a better all around performer... I would take either tube unit over the DSI tho. If you can make sense of that. MF was a unit I liked but I felt the naim 5i was just better, so I went with naim, now I'm up to the XS-2, and hear from a close friend that he likes his Naim supernait2 more then his Octave V80. He said it had more control and played louder more easily.

I can't directly answer your question other then to say the DSI was a good unit and I think anyone could be very happy with it, but I'd take the tubes over the DSi. If the MF unit improves on the M3i's limitations (which I'm sure it does) of bass extension, detail, and soundstage depth, then I'd say it should be a great unit. I guess I'd slightly lean towards the MF, but personally I'd want to compare it to the naim supernait2 myself.

Cd...Yeah I am looking to buy used, and don't have any dealers nearby. I am not against tubes at all and have been looking at tube based amps as well. I may end up going through a bunch of gear before I settle with something. I am just hoping to not need to "rent" too many The VSI60 is an amp that I am interested in and was in conversation with a seller about one. To make a long story short, unfortunately, at the time, I was promised a great deal on C1 platinums that the salesperson of a local hifi store that was going out of business, could not actually deliver on, but I had set aside money for the speakers, so I was feeling like buying an amp would stretch my funds too far even though I really wanted to try it out. The amp has been sold, so I am now looking at others, as well as used C1's. I will keep my eye out for a Conrad Johnson CA-200 and will check out the Octave V40se...very appealing price! One thing that I have always wondered about tubes, especially with Dynaudio speakers, is if an amp with that kind wattage, can bring out the best of the speakers.

Callas...I am not too sure about the DSI 200 for Dynaudio speakers at this point and am also leaning towards the MF M6 500i. What do you like about the supernait 2?

Originally I was between the naim nait 5i and the MF M3i, both in the same $$ range but the naim had a nicer more developed bottom end control/slam even tho the MF had more watts. It also had better stage depth and mids. When I moved from my excites to the focus speakers I also upgraded to the naim XS-2. I was looking to audition the M6i at the time of moving to the focus line but that dealer stopped selling MF products so I never got to hear it. I have not heard the SN2. I know one person that had the SN1 and one that had the Octave V80 and are very happy with the SN2 vs their other units. Makes me almost want to trade in my XS-2 but not sure I'll do that anytime soon; maybe after I get my other system up and running. If your concerned about power my XS is 60/90 and my room is 12.5x25 open the the stairwell starting at 10' high up to 20' high angle, and it gets louder then I imagined it would in this room.

Those new KEFs look great! How do you like them compared to your LS50s? Obviously it's a different design and setup, but just initial thoughts, I'm curious to hear. Also, which Harbeths are those? My dad's seriously considering a pair of their Monitor 30s or the Compacts.

I got to hear the R-300s a few months back and was impressed with the clarity of the sound. Definitely a nice speaker!

MF gear goes very well with Dynaudio's, but in your case I would go with the Naim. When you start getting into the M6i, is where things start to sound much nicer.

Hi
Will a 100w marantz pm 11s3 work well with the Confidence 1?
I am thinking of this speaker in a 10' by 18' living room.
I like a smooth sound and will also use the pair in a HT system too.
Thanks

Does anyone know anything about the guy selling C1 signatures in Bordeaux on Audiogon?
http://app.audiogon.com/listings/mon...48-san-jose-ca
I have been communicating with him about them and as soon as I asked for pictures of the serial numbers as well as for him to include a copy of the invoice so that the warranty could be transferred to me...he stopped replying. Red flag as far as I am concerned

Same thing what happen to me as well, frankly I have never seen anyone get ahold of that many different looking Special 25s or C1s.. He seems to have several user names as well.

My two Special Twenty Fives look different. They were not sold as a pair, somehow they ended up together. History unknown. They came without an invoice. One had a small tweeter defect and Dynaudio was awesome enough to provide me with two new tweeters, under warranty! Exemplary after sales service, if you ask me!

But I get the impression that both speaker sound slightly different, one seems to produce a little more output above 5kHz. It's really hard to say for sure. It might also be my hearing that is deteriorating. I have a "noise dip" at around 4k in my right ear and I have the idea that it's slowly getting worse...

Anyway, Even though I ended up fine with a great pair of speakers, I've become very cautious about dealing with second hand gear. I'll only buy it if it's history can be traced.

...
What would be a good unit to use with Special Twenty Fives? Sometimes some high end MF gear finds it's way to the second hand market web sites. At the moment there is a choice of M6 PRX, A3.5 int.amp, KW250, an A308 and a Tri Vista 300 set. I'm somewhat interested in the A308, but all of these pieces of gear cost serious €€€, even used.

I'm working on it. LOTS of projects these days...not the least of which, is building some proper stands for all my new speakers...lol (definitely an RPP huh?).

I'll post some R-300 v. LS-50 thoughts soon.

James, all those units would work well, I have had all of them in my system the TriVisa 300 is pretty sweet the A3.5 is your best bet for a good Int. Amp that won't break the bank, all of them will drive the Dynaudio's the way you want them, as Dynaudio used MF during a lot of the CES and other shows in the past.

lulimet: He rotates them as I have seen 3 pairs of Special 25s and several pairs of C1s.....

CD: Once you find some thing you like it is called a keeper. My match up with the KW-500 Int. Amp and C2s and KEF LS50 is for sure a keeper. I currently have the Emotiva Pre/Amp combo similar to the Oppo but not nearly as user friendly, or the nice GUI interface. This would be for a back up system and one I can use with DSD Files, that is why I was looking at the Oppo. I need another pair of speakers like I need a hole in my head, but I really liked the new Magnepan 1.7s as they image like no other speaker I have heard and the amount of detail and quality you get out of a American Made speaker is pretty surprising!

No, listen; I'm the first admit...I move sideways a lot. Had fun, but probably slowing down.
