CD: Just go all in and get a pair of these:

http://app.audiogon.com/listings/sol...ifiers-m33-5ba

Too me: Threshold/Pass/First Watt: are some of the best SS Amps I have heard and owned. The only issue I have with PASS is how much $$$ they cost..... But PM me if you decide to sell one of them!

Yeah; it would be easy to get carried away. Easy on the psyche that is...not on the wallet.

If I can wrangle a pair of 60.8s, I can't see wanting...or being able to afford...anything else

That is...if I don't choose the X-150.8 instead. I was all set; and then...like Dyns...one of the pair of speakers I'm "auditioning", really opened up...and is proving a pretty dynamite pairing with the A/B Pass.

So the battle is 30.8 with 1 pair, 150.8 with the other.

Happy Thanksgiving Dyn guys! I haven't owned Dyns for a while...and while I was very interested in trying a new Focus, or Contour LEs; it's starting to look like I'm settling down, and not going to be gear-swapping as much.

But I still enjoy posting to this group; and I appreciate that mostly...you guys welcome me here

Oh; I'll definitely be selling one of them Gar; where's it going to go...Bedroom system?

This is for your new C2 Plats? While either one would drive them beautifully IMO; I think you should take a hard look, if I sell the 150.8.

+1
I'll always have a soft spot for all Dyn's and still maybe get a pair of Xeo's for portability.

Hi everyone!

I recently bought a pair of Xeo 5 speakers and have not been too happy with them since.

I am feeding the transmitter with 16/44 signal from my Sonos via Toslink. All my files are stored in ALAc coding.

To me, the sound is... veiled and muddy...

I have tried playing with the mains chords (phase), little improvement there. Then I tried feeding the transmitter with battery power. A little gain as well - compared to the stock wart.

However, I still cant seem to get the sound I can appreciate from them.

Anybody here owning those?

Thanks!

Did you buy them new? If so how many hours on them? I have no experience with Xeo (yet) but when I had C1's (3 pairs) they had a horrible break in. The worst was between 100 - 200 hrs. They sounded very good out of the box and between 100/200 hrs the lows sounded muddy mids sounded honky and the highs dropped off. Then almost like magic they sounded very good again and finally settled down between 400 - 450 hrs getting to fantastic.

That said I think the C1's had the most brutal break in of any Dyn speaker.

I bought them new and I have had them breaking in for at least 2 months now, playing every day for at least 2-3 hours (mozart for my baby boy).

This basically means that they are now somewhere in the "worst" region of your experience.

I can surely wait some more, but HELL this is some painful wait after my Macs and Vandees that sounded so damn well...

I will make some pics today and try to post them.

Again I have no experience with Xeo. But has the sound been going downhill? I would assume that besides breaking in the speakers the built in amps may need some time too. Have you asked your dealer? My dealer warned me when I bought the C1's and honestly when they sounded the worst I wouldn't have paid even $500 for them. But in the end it was well worth it.

Did you audition the Xeo5 before buying? And if so, in what context?

Current HiFi: Dynaudio Focus 260 | Meridian Direct DAC | NAIM XS 2 (2013)
Past HiFi: Dynaudio Excite X16 | Dynaudio Focus 160 | Harman Kardon HK3490
Portable IEMs by Audio-Technica

the dealer says "wait" with no specific info.

Unfortunately, no, I did not audition them. I believed the reviews that said that they were magnificently clear and neutral, and my experience of listening to a pair of shelf Focuses a while ago, when I was chosing speakers for my Naim integrated (went for Chario Delphinus then). At that time those speakers sounded very neutral and even a little "metallic" indeed. These, on the contrary, massively lack transparency and air...

Wow. Not my experience at all. I have an Olive 4HD feeding CDs ripped to FLAC, digital direct to the XEO transmitter. Plus I updated my turntable to a Rega 3 that is connected to an Apt Holman preamp, and then analog to the transmitter. I love the sound of the XEO 5s - open, detailed, terrific soundstage, full punchy bass. In fact, I liked them so much, I got a 2nd pair for my master bedroom. I found an optimal position for the transmitter (important step!) and have experienced flawless operation for over a year.

Not familiar with the Sonos. Do you have a different source available?
