I mean nix the Excite line and Contour line, the Focus are almost similar in price, maybe the Chinese like the curves the Contour and Confidence gives them! But in their defense a lot of other companies are doing this, Dali just recently went through scaling back their lines as well.

wgerman: They didn't make many Accents, do you mean Audience line? They made a lot more of those.
Thanks for the correction Garman, yes I meant Audience (Martin Logan.......ahh that's another story). Never understood why Dynaudio started expanding their speaker line, it dilutes the product. Again, I think the cancelling of the Focus line is a prelude to possibly a new generation about to debut. Munich should be very interesting.

Well, this is shocking news...if confirmed!

Makes no sense esp. since Focus XD was just released. I would have cut DM and Contour first. Keep Excite, Focus, Confidence and Evidence but simplify each line.

Perhaps they should buy Raidho/Scansonic too? Take the best of each and create a new series of lines...

Current HiFi: Dynaudio Focus 260 | Meridian Direct DAC | NAIM SuperNait 2
Past HiFi: Dynaudio Excite X16 | Dynaudio Focus 160 | Harman Kardon HK3490 | NAIM XS2 (70wpc version)
Portable: IM70 IEMs by Audio-Technica

GT: Actually that makes more sense... Well even though Raidho/Scansonics cabinets are still made Taiwan the company is Danish and keeps most of the profits, or you can look at it a different way. Dynaudio is Danish and all handcrafted in Denmark but they still have jobs, but that could change very rapidly if they decide to make things in China cheaper. Bottom line, we are all supporting Communism by buying their products! LOL jk! hahahaha

I deleted previous post, and you are correct, I think Lars was talking about the new Amplifier... U-300. But not sure as it says Made in Denmark on the back of it.

I'm surprised they didn't bother with balanced inputs.

I haven't seen too many Digital Amps using Balanced outputs, it sure can lower the noise floor. I do remember this unit being dead quite you could hear a pin drop during the pauses in between the songs, dead silent Amp that is for sure. Now if this unit was like 10K I would want one, a person has to have his limits. I have a 7K amp right now, did I pay that much for it, hell no, more like $2800 from a doctor friend of mine that barely ever used it.

That's why I'm looking hard at the IDA-16 now. It looks pretty decent if you're running a full-range system.

The U300 is the first amp made by Ansuz/Raidho. Lars had mentioned at Axpona that there other amps being considered including a class a/b. I've read somewhere (I believe MBL and Octave said) that Americans want balanced in and out and Europeans generally prefer singled ended.

Who knows Balanced may be in the next upgraded model. Tyler should be here today and I'll try to remember to ask what he knows about the Focus line.

Dang! You'll have to take pictures. I'm interested in the packaging as well. I mean $30k retail has to partly go into a nice box right?

George: That's why I posted it to clarify it was made in Denmark! Lars did mention Taiwan not sure what products he was referring too of theirs that are made in Taiwan. No biggie as Taiwan and Japan make great electronics with very little harm to environment since they live on a Island they have to be careful what they use and they do respect US/European Pat. Laws. China makes good electronics but a I don't care policy has me worried, this will change in time.

George: Take some pictures of that beautiful amp for us! Also are you stepping up to the D3s yet? I won't be changing out my Dynaudio C2 Platinums after listening them more, they just sound too good in my room, hence that why I was very happy with the C2 Originals and had them for 10 years. You just go with what your ears like, and mine fell in love with the Esotar years ago.

The Focus line being discontinued... Has this now been confirmed by anyone? Is it true that it can no longer be ordered? Just as I'm saving up for a Focus 260 (in maple)... Hmmm...

I'm sure something new will be announced in Munich, but I'm afraid that it will not meet my expectations. I honestly like the old-school look of the Focus line, and I fear they will move away from this old aesthetic. (If the Focus family was not successful then they have every right to change, of course.)

Anyway, I hope to hear more about this rumor. I guess I'll need to plan accordingly.

I don't I ever seen the 260s in maple. Mine in high gloss white are the only 260s in that finish I have seen.

I have seen walnut, rosewood and high gloss black in dealers. Maple and high gloss white: nope.

I have seen maple 220s just once!

I saw Mick post once that they go in this order of most requested in the U.S.
Rosewood
Gloss black
Walnut
Gloss White

Maple was popular in Europe

However I've seen all 4 of those popular US colors and my favorites were rosewood and gloss white. The white is just so striking, the gloss rosewood just shines!

I guess the rumors are really true. I see that Dedicated Audio has now reduced the price of the entire Focus line.

Wow... End of an era. I wonder what will take its place...

The price of the excites and the DMs are down also, I think it has more to do with the Euro being at an all time low! (Hopefully)

Good catch. I see those price decreases. The 260s are now $4400, down $500.

I hope we get more info during Munich, May 14-17.

It was the wrong line to cancel. Contour and DM and Consequence should go too IMO.

And the whole Focus XD just compounds the confusion. While build a new speaker off of a dying model/brand?

Would you say Dedicated's price (for the 260), which most likely everyone else will match, is a good price? Is that a reasonable discount, even historically speaking? Thanks in advance.

The prices of the DMs excites and the focus are all down, check audiovisionsf.com, dedicated audio.com and musicdirect.com. Again I think it has to do with the euro being down close to the U.S. $
