Will all this be sorted out by Munich in 2 weeks?
This has been coming for a long time. I am sure they have all the details worked out.

I know there are two new models at least of Excite coming out at the end of summer. My guess is they will be similar to the 160 and 380

I know it sounds great and looks great.....but can we communicate with it? If not it is useless:)

In fact...I was pretty careful, not to compare; especially here (although some would say, I was less than completely successful...lol ).

It's well-documented, Dyns have some of the biggest bass...pound-for-pound...in the hi-end. So comparing them to ScanSonic, and their 4.5" drivers; just seems like an exercise in futility to me.
I completely agree, I guess you missed my large hint at sarcasm as well.

Of all the speakers to save, they chose the 380?

Well some of that makes sense...

The X16 for example had no New Excite successor so the 160 becoming say the X18 makes sense. But if the X18 costs less than $2900 new then the used market for the 160 gets worse.

But it sounds like the Focus 260 and 340 will become "rarer" commodities of price:performance goodness???

Though I don't see how the X38 survives alongside a re-branded Focus 380. Same with the X34.

If I were Dynaudio...as I have written many times...I would simplify a lot too.

This would be it...

Traditional, Passive Line:
Excite X14
Excite X18 (aka Focus 160)
Excite X35 (aka Focus 260)
Excite X40 (aka Focus 380)
Confidence C1P*
Confidence C2P*
Confidence C4P*
Evidence Platinum*

*Or even augment/replace these with NEW PRODUCT, Ribbon-Tweeter, Raidho/Scansonic competitor line(s)

Active Line:
XD100 (Based on both Excite X14A and Xeo4)
XD200 (Based on X18 / Focus 160)
XD400 (Based on X35 / Focus 260)
XD600 (Based on X40 / Focus 380)

Other:
+ 1x Digital Hub for ALL Active models
+ 1-3x Wireless/Center Speaker models (or not if going away from HT)
+ 1-3x Wireless/Subwoofer models (or not if going away from HT)

JMO but they should have kept the focus, ditched the excite and contours. Expanded the DM line. I know the contours have longevity and history, but it really seems like its time has come. Again JMO.

Speculation, more hopefully will be known at the show in Munich..... Not sure what is going to happen with the XD line, might be too expensive of a speaker to make and just is too expensive for the masses, and after hearing them at the show, I wasn't all that impressed.

Whatever they decide to do it will have to be better then the excites.... It will have to change what the current contours are, cause I personally don't like them. But they'll have to improve upon what I have in the 260s which I feel are the ultimate best value Dynaudio speaker you can buy. I personally would have done things differently. But I guess I'm biased!

On a german website one user mentioned that Dynaudio is considering implementing space/room correction into the XD line. This would be possible with the digital inputs only.

Any talk on the DE forum about the latest news? Canceling the Focus line, etc.?

Of course.... But I would have done it differently;

DM2/6 V2 $699
DM2/7 V2 $999
DM3/7 V2 $1799
DM3/8 $2499 (3-way similar to the Audience 82)
DM Center $699

Focus 130 $1700 (aka X14 design)
Focus 160 $2900
Focus 230 $3900 (aka X34 design)
Focus 260 $5000
Focus 340 $8500
Focus 210C $2000

XD130 $3000
XD200 $4600
XD230 $5800
XD400 $7000
XD600 $10000
Hub
This line covers the xeo and XD lines.

Special Edition bookshelf $6500
Use the older warmer Dyn sound, not the current dead on neutral sound.

C1P $8500
C2P $17000
C4P $25000
C Center $7000

Evidence models

Let me honest, the people here that wanted to see new Contours are also rather bored with the current Contour line; and the LE didn't make them jump on board either. People here that have had the Contours have bought Focus speakers. I've heard dealers say they don't stock much Contours because the interest is declining over the last couple years.

So much so, in the States; that my speculation has always been...it must be a different story elsewhere.

Callas01: Good point, but in Europe the Contours were a much better seller as they are base on a more of a Europen/Scandinavian look. It would be nice to see a redesign of a Confidence C1 bookshelf using Evidence drivers! I still love the sound of the Contour 1.3 and 1.3SE, ironically they don't look very different than the Focus line.

Also, the Consequence sold at a higher volume in Asia. I have a dealer who's a family friend in Taiwan who told me this, but I don't know how much the trend extends beyond his shop.

Their website has been thoroughly updated. I see that for the Focus line maple veneer has been replaced by Cherry. There are perhaps other changes as well.

I guess this is just the beginning...

Good catch!

Only (product) changes I see is that the Contour page only features the new LE models.
And maple is out across the board as a finish. (I guess my old Focus 160s in maple are a rarity now!)

Well if you go to Dynaudio USA it takes you nowhere right now...

But this works: http://www.dynaudio.com

Kind of funny picture as who listens to speakers sitting on the floor on mats? Also the welding masks over to the left, and he is at least using NAD Master series stuff which is nice!

Probably the living room of one of the Dynaudio execs in Denmark or Germany.
Would all of that NAD equipment be necessary for the XDs? The DAC perhaps but not the pre/amp.

The Contour mimic the look of the Confidence, would not surprise me if Contour and Focus went away. Simplify the product portfolio. Excite, Confidence, Evidence and wireless XD speakers. That's a good portfolio. Focus performance in the Excite line will blow away the competition and rewrite the market place. Then, if Dyn wanted too, they could merge the Evidence and Confidence line.

I thought they discontinued their partnership with VW; the news post seems to indicate otherwise.

They're spread far enough apart IMO not to canibalize those sales $s.

Your logic makes sense, but then they need to lessen the price of then Excites to have an entry level speaker. They need to pull people in at a lesser price point because the competition is stiff, I can get a pair of US built Magnepans that sound wonderful in the .7 now or MMGs or 1.7 which are under 2K and sound wonderful. There is a ton of competition out their and they need to compete on the low end and the high end.
