There is a ton of competition out their and they need to compete on the low end and the high end.
I agree with you on lowering the Excite price. While Dyn is at it, get rid of the DM series, and they must be doing that because you can get DMs on the Music Direct. com site which usually peddles closeout products.

Then again, if they kept the Excite price the same and brought Focus like audio quality to it, that would be a game changer too.

The way I understood the music direct/Dynaudio partnership was that a) this wasn't the first attempt to bring Dynaudio into their product mix. b) this was dynaudios way to test Internet sales affects with a "dealer" that was Chicago based and they could keep closer tabs on. Last years holiday sale flyer had the DMs and XEOs as the 2 products you could buy online.

Do they know something we don't? A impeding new model? All running off to buy MB-2.5s?

The latest walnut pair quotes a new MSRP that is $500 too high.

At the end of this month I'll be at THE SHOW Newport and I'll be paying close attention to the Dali Rubicon, scansonics, aerial 6t as speakers to keep an eye one down the road.

The Rubicons where nice but still priced too high, we have a dealer near me and we did a shoot out with the Ikon/Rubicon/Zensor and a few others and the new Rubicon ended up going from the top of the list to the bottom, I preferred the Ikon 1 MKII which I did have for awhile then traded up to the Ikon 2 MKII but made the mistake of not measuring them as they were too big for office setup. Then I went with a pair of KEF LS50..Frankly I think the 260 are much better sounding and versatile than the Rubicons. I still do have an inexpensive Zensors in my living room where the kids listen and watch TV, using Zensor 7.

As I've said many times, I really liked the Ikons and Concepts before I heard the Dyn Excites. I did hear the mentors and they had some things that were better then the focus 220s but then the 220s I felt overall were a better speakers in terms of timing, and communicating the music and bottom end control. I still like Dali and I would want to hear them before ruling them out completely. The zensors are a speaker I am highly considering as one to put into my kids living room also. I know many of you guys like kef, have not to this day heard one I've personally enjoyed enough to purchase. I will listen to them also when I go to the show to see what the new reference line is about.

Callas01: I agree with you on the KEFs, the only ones I have liked so far where the LS50 and some of the new R series speakers along with the new Reference line, before the new driver technology I pretty much never liked them. The Zensor 7 I have in my living room and for $800 they were a steal, they usually retail for $1200 and even then they are a bargain. But this line competes more with the Dynaudio DM line.

Allow me to re-phrase for Garman: I didn't like the old KEF...but I like ALL of the new ones!
