I bet they'll sound great. I had a polyglass setup in my old S4 that sounded phenomenal. Took them out when I sold it and have yet to put them in anything else. Stock systems suck[emoji22]

got my 948's in along w/new marantz 7008 avr and nad 275bee. so far just breaking them in and loving everything. few things I have questions on:

audysey x32 shows the focals out of phase, i triple checked...is normal?

next question is how do I know what the correct voltage adjustment is for the amp? right now I have it turned about 40% up...

and last question for now, any recommended settings on the marantz? i let audysey do its thing with 8 different positions and I dont think it sounds as punchy as w/the eq off?

and a new review: http://www.theabsolutesound.com/arti...ocal-aria-948/

Congrats torii,neat setup.

About audyseyx32,probably the next have some connection :

"More from Focal: the assembly of its speakers uses poka-yoke methods to ensure it’s impossible for them to be wired incorrectly in manufacture.

More specifically, ‘all of our Aria loudspeakers actually use specific Faston-clip terminated wires, to make it impossible to connect a single transducer in the wrong phase. Furthermore, our QC performs 100% check at the end of the production line, also with frequency response check, so to ensure optimal performances, according to our golden samples.

Please also note that in the Aria 926 model, by design choice, midrange and tweeter are connected in phase, while the woofers are connected out of phase.

‘In fact, in order to obtain a smooth and regular frequency response it is necessary to consider the actual acoustic phase between each driver in the crossover region, rather than the absolute electric phase.

‘In the floorstanding models the choice of connecting the woofers out of phase and keeping the mid-hi with an absolute positive phase allows a very smooth integration with centre and rear channels in a 5.1-channel home theatre setup.’

Folks, my dealer just got their Sopra N°2. Their early impressions include multiple emails with the terms "shocked," "astounding," "revolutionary." I'm in the middle of some projects right now but as soon as I get some free time I'm going to go straight there and listen.

I think I need a pair in electric orange ASAP!

Happy and proud owner of a pair of Electra 1038be and I absolutely love them. Great sound and perfectly sized for my room. Can't rave about these enough!

I did, however, come to the Electra series late as I'm trying to find the CC in champagne which, I'm told by my dealer, is currently out of stock (though not discontinued) and they're not sure when the next production run will be because the factory that builds them is producing the Sopras. So I sit, patiently, waiting.

I'm guessing that Focal has no intention of producing more and that they're just saying that while gauging market interest to see if it's worthwhile to manufacture more. You can get some decent deals on the Electra series right now in the UK.

Anyways, when I do finally get my hands on that centre in champagne; attachments show what what I'm going for (I'm having the stand made to match the speakers).

From the NAD manual

Quote:
-interchange-newline"> NPUT SELECT: Slide this switch to either “FIX” or “VAR”. When it is
set to FIX, the input signal is taken straight to the power amplifier’s
circuitry. This setting is normally used in a system with only one power
amplifier or multiple but identical power amplifiers.
When the INPUT SELECT switch is set to “VAR” (Variable), it is possible
to adjust the volume level for both channels simultaneously, using the
INPUT LEVEL CONTROL. This can be useful for:
Level Matching
In a surround sound or system with more than one set of speakers,
differences in levels can occur due to variance inefficiencies between
these speakers. In case your preamplifier or processor also has
individual trims for each channel, set these to neutral or mid position
(usually marked as 0dB). Adjust the INPUT LEVEL CONTROL so that
the speakers driven by the C 275BEE have the correct volume level
compared to the other speakers, judging from your listening position.
Extended Volume Control Range
Many systems have so much voltage gain that the speakers (or your
ears) are overdriven at any volume control setting higher than 11 or 12
o’clock. As a result you are confined to using only the lower half of the
volume control’s range, where adjustments are imprecise and where
channel balance errors tend to be greater.
If the input level is reduced, you can turn up the volume control of
your processor or preamplifier, making more effective use of its range.
(Suggestion: adjust the input level controls so that your preferred
maximum sound levels usually occur at about 2 or 3 o’clock on the
volume control.) As an added benefit, this procedure suppresses any noise
produced by the preamplifier’s high level circuitry (e.g. any residual hum or
hiss that does not go away when the Volume is turned down).

I have the 2 amps bot set on fixed. should I swith them to var and adjust them? they will definately put out more power that was because set on fixed is same as variable being set on 0 gain. Im loving the focal 948 with this setup. The local pro came over and setup/tweaked and he was surprised how well everything sounded. said most peoples homes are set up not for best sound and mine was pretty dang sweet music to my ears.

Sopra n1 & n2 listening impressions?

Anyone heard the Sopra n1 or n2? Any thoughts?

I had these recommended by a local dealer and thought about auditioning them.
Shame no Center channel in the series though...

I listened to the Sopra No2 yesterday. They are remarkable. There are no speakers I've heard in this price range that beat it, and there are several for double the price that are just barely competitive. Front end was an MSB Analog DAC with Soulution 530 integrated amp. Do whatever it takes to be able to hear the Sopra No2.

I was ready to start saving and upgrade from the Electra 1028 Be, but the No2 is $13,999. I don't think I can swing that.

Sweet! Thanks for the info....im going in a few days to check them out.

How big was the room they were in?
Where do they shine, if any areas specific?
Are they far from the Electra series sound?

Have you heard either of the following, which I'm looking at, and how would they compare?
SF Olympica 3 / B&W Diamond 802 / Dali Epicon 8

Thanks

If possible add the Aerial Acoustic 7T to the list if there is a dealer near you. Ive listened to the Focal 1028, 1038, Sonus Faber Olymipica 3, Vienna Acoustic Liszt and Symphony Grand, B&W 800 series, Golden Ears, Paradigm Signature, and PSB. I'm waiting on Sopra availability near me to hear but so far the price performance of the Aerials have me leaning in their direction.

To aria's columns owners. Try to slightly lean yours speakers backward via the spikes - just unscrew the back spikes few turnovers. I've got very pleasing result !
