He's also an old man. I think his departure from the scene was more on the lines of retirement.

I listened to a $60,000 Meridian system yesterday. A lot of white noise. Very electronic sounding. I'm not sure they set the system up correctly. One of the nice features is they could control where the instruments played in the room. If you wanted the electric guitar playing out of the ceiling you could make a few adjustments and bingo the guitar is coming out of the ceiling. I'm not sure I would drop that kind of cash for that feature but it was nice to have that much control. I have not had an opportunity to listen to NHT's set up. Hope to in the next couple of weeks.

Interestingly, the Xd system uses more advanced drivers and DSP than the Meridian system. IMO, Xd sounds only as electronic or as natural as the music you put on it, give or take a surprisingly low margin of error. Did you find an Xd dealer? I think most of them are in California for whatever reason.

I think they were misusing the tilt function on the Meridian, which isn't used to place instruments high or low, but to time align the drivers at whatever height you're sitting.
