I used an SPL calculator, and at 16 feet, using a 200w amp, a baffle wall, and an AT screen, I'll get 100db. Maybe that's close enough, but it'd be nice to hit that 105 number. I just don't want to push the speaker to its limits.
On it's own, the F208 can play louder and go deeper than the F206. However, when you factor in subwoofers, I'm not sure if there is value added by going with the F208. For example, if your budget was for 1 subwoofer, I would put the difference toward 2 subwoofers.

And as far as your amp is concerned, I would go with the Emotiva XPR-5 which is 400 watts X 5, etc. I'm not sure what your exact configuration is but sounds like it's gonna be a fun project!

Tin_Can, I guess you like it really loud huh?
Yeah compression drivers are capable of high, clean SPLs.
It's a matter of personal preference. As always listening before buying is best.
Will your theater room be for films only?
I know people do this but imo, after spending so much time, money and effort on a nice room with nice gear,
not using it for music as well is a missed opportunity but that's just me.

lsdec, good advice.
For me, there's more to speakers than sensitivity, bass extension and raw SPL.
The F208s are better speakers to me.

These days the advantages of multiple subwoofers make them a defacto standard.
When I built out my room, using 2 subwoofers was not rare but was a bit more high-end than now.
Many people are starting with 2 and upgrading to 4 or are just budgeting for 4 from the start.

Depending on how your room is going to be setup, you can go with one monster multi-channel amp or multiple amps.
My L\C\Rs are driven by a 3-channel amp on the stage with the surrounds driven by a multi-channel amp in the main equipment rack.

The theater will be for movies, TV, and games. I'm sure I'll listen to some music, but it's not my main concern. I listen to music all day long while I work.

And no, I really don't like it all that loud. But, I also want the system to be well within its linear range at all times.

The room will have 4 subs, so the extra bottom end of the f208 isn't needed, I'm guessing.

What kind of subs will the room have? Brand/model. You should have started with this

Don't know yet. Maybe SVS or diy. It's really not about brand with me, as long as it meets specs. Is the sub flat from 20hz to 80hz at suitable spl?

The subs need to go deep but need to be fast to match the tight bass of the Revels. If you get some diy 18" sub that's all boomy, it's not ideal.

The Revel's bass is solid.

Also, if you are going with 4 subs and crossing over at 80hz then getting 6 F206 would be magical. If not maybe 2 F206 and 4 M105. And perhaps you can just get a 5th M105 or another F206 for the center...not sure what your plan is for the screen. If you have to get a center, getting the C208 would make a big difference over the C205.

Lots of great subs far cheaper than Revel.
SVS, PowerSound, Rythmik, HSU.
If you're going high-end, look no further than Seaton.
Forget Fathom, REL or any other expensive brand.
You'll never get the support or anything else that Mark offers.

Again, the F208 offers more than deeper bass extension over the F206.
I'd say you'd be a prime candidate for JTR speakers.
I've never heard them but a lot of people like them.

If I got F206's, it'd be three across the front, all behind an AT screen. However, the matching surrounds are bipole and won't be a great fit for Atmos.

Seaton Submersive would be great, just not when I have to buy 4, hehe.

I'd love to seriously consider JTR, but no matching ceiling speakers for Atmos is a problem.

Maybe 3 F206's and 4 M105's then. Not sure about the subs...remember, if you do it right, you only need to buy these things once.

Or 7 M105s and 4 better subs crossed over at 100 Hz? I guess you have some research to do.

More research? Can I get a beer and wait for my eyes to stop bleeding, first?

No way. Sorry to be blunt. If you're asking for clean comfortable delivery of reference level volume at 16 ft. the Revels are not the way to go IMO. Great speaker, wrong application. Just my opinion, of course .

You are correct to be thinking about compression drivers. The only problem is finding a compression driver that meets your expectations for fidelity. The importance of that will dictate the difficulty of finding a suitable design.

I have no trouble doing that with my Salons, Studios, and Voice
