The JC1 was much better fit however 3 of them would cost as much as the ML's, not to mention you could fry an egg on it under load.

Anyway my quest to get the best out of the F208's continues. I now have a Classe CA5300 but I'm waiting on an SSP to evaluate.
When I had F208s I used an A21 to drive them. I say, you don't know, what you don't know, until you change something. I thought the A21 was great until I compared it to something else. The A21 is good for the money, but not close to what some of the more expensive highend amps can do...of course that's my opinion based on listening in my system.

Hi Guys, I bought a B112 in Oct 2013 from an in-state reseller who I believe is no longer an authorized reseller, or perhaps in business at all. However, Revel confirmed that he was authorized in 2013. I paid with Paypal through Audiogon, had it shipped to me and didn't ask for a hard receipt (yeah, I know). Since the transaction is over a year old I can't even see it in my history. My B112 needs service now (won't come out of standby or connect to my laptop and gives a metallic thud when you switch off the power) and I have no idea how I'm going to prove that I bought from an authorized reseller. A Revel tech hinted in email that it might be a quick fix (I'm thinking the fuse?) but asked me to send a scan of my original receipt to prove warranty coverage. If I can't get in touch with the seller am I just out of luck?

If you paid with PayPal, you should be able to look much further back in your history than 1 year. I just checked and I can look at transactions as far back as July 7, 2012.

Oh, I got it now, thanks. Paypal shows the recipient as an individual rather than a business name, but I bet I can figure it out...

Revel - corporate - should be able to check your Warranty status using the Serial Number. I did this after I bought my F12 second hand and realized the grills were not fastening tightly. They sent me 2 new ones.

My local dealer where I bought the F208/C208 are the slowest and doesn't seem very eager when it comes to customer satisfaction. I contacted Revel corporate and the response was probably the best I have ever experienced.

Great!
Revel's customer service has to be saluted.
I share your experience. Before buying my Revel speakers, I sent an e-mail to Revel (Harman) regarding a general thing about them. They responed immediately.
Revel speakers are amazing.

A photo of my speakers is attached to this post (unfortunately the photo is taken with a very simple camera).

Have a C52, is it the same tweeter as the Voice 2? Openess and clarity of voice is my primary concern, not looking for more midbass.

Short answer is no, they are not the same. Voice2 has a Be tweeter whereas the C52 has an Al tweeter.

If you want clarity and openness of sound then the Voice2 is better than the C52. The question is are you willing to pay 3x the price for a minimal improvement. I could only tell in a side by side comparison. I can't even say with complete confidence that the improvement in sound was not due to expectation bias. The improvements in looks alone were worth the upgrade price to me.

I can definitely tell the improvement in the clarity and smoothness of the Salon2 towers vs. the F52 though. Just make sure the room is big enough to accommodate the Salon2s. I lost a little bit of expansiveness of the soundstage when I upgraded from the F52s to the Salon2s. My room is relatively small (18' x 17') and I sit a mere 9' or so from the Salon2s.

I recently upgraded from a Voice to Voice2 and find the 2 is a definite improvement.
Sibilants are less distracting and clarity reproducing male vocals are well defined.

I agree with duc135, the Voice2 is beautiful.
Mounting required some Rube Goldberg engineering and the destruction of the cradle.

Congratulations with the Voice2.
The wall mounting looks really great, by the way.

Great to read that you are very happy with your F208 purchase. They are a true bargain, and they look great, too.

The F208s are huge though. When my wife first walked in the house and saw them, her comment was "My God they're big!" Here's another picture showing them with her new furniture.

Nice room and great speakers. The F208's are beautiful and a bargain.
Does your wife like their sound?

Wow, almost 9 years and very little movement on these speakers compared to others in the speaker forum. I'm looking to move away from my 14-year old Def Tech towers because I recently bought a Rythmik sub and have no need to use the powered subs on the DT. The F208's have gotten outstanding reviews everywhere I've looked. I'm not sure I need to buy that pair, maybe the F206 would work just fine, but I have the money to spend so I always go big so that I don't have regrets. But I am open. Most of my listening will be movies and regular TV viewing, but I do like listening to music, and when I do, it is loud. I prefer the highs, but not tinny, with a good mixture of mids thrown in. Years ago I had a pair of Polk Audio SD2A's and they were the best speakers I've ever owned; never should have sold them, but that's life. In order to demo the Revel's, I'll need to make a 4 hour round trip drive. Will the F208 or F206 give me what I'm looking for? I know all is subjective and you have to make the effort and demo, but before I make that trip I want to make sure it is worthwhile. And I do want to demo other speakers.

I'd go with the f206. I found them to be a little more lively for music. I'd still take Olympica's over it though lol

I had DefTechs prior to getting my F208. If you like your music accurate and want speakers that have a physical "presence", I think the F208 is a better fit than the F206. The F208 are as large as the Studio2 and can play LOUD!

I have found that the Salon2's are easy to drive.
I use a high quality 100W integrated amplifier: T+A R1230R.
The R1230R is identical to the PA1230R (as reviewed in the second link), except for R1230R also having a tuner in its box.
Confer these links for more information:

http://i.nextmedia.com.au/avhub/pdf_...44247048150000

The rest of my system consists of the following:
* Benchmark DAC1 (not shown in the picture as it is placed on the PC table)
* Sennheiser HD800 (not shown in the picture as they are placed on the PC table)
* Solidsteel HW-3 rack (I have an additional shelf, so as pictured it is a HW-2).

Yes the Triton 2. It sounded nice but I wasn't a big fan of it.
I heard good things about the Triton 1 but they weren't around when I got my F208.

I doubt I'll be getting anything new for a long time. I actually don't even think about my gear as I'm so happy with everything.

F-208 interest

Hello AVS Friends
I have been the forum for some years. About a year ago, I was considering an upgrade for my main front speakers. I consider JBL, and Harman/Kardon a developer in sound handling for all kind of speakers. Revel of course, the High end of their line is superb. I’m considering the F208 as my main interest. Of course, I would like the Salons, but those are out of my league, so I have to keep with the 208s.
I’ve been reading a lot of your posts from 2013, and I read a lot of good impressions about the F 208s. My system consists of JBL Studio Line. Fronts are, Studio L 890,considered as a reference speaker here in AVS, in the specific thread (91dB @ 8ohm). I know those are good speakers, but not like Revels and JBLs are weak in the midrange. That’s why, I want to upgrade, in order to achieve a better midrange sound. One thing that worries me from the 208s is their aluminum tweeter. I don’t understand why Harman keeps the Revel line with aluminum tweeters instead of Titanium. JBLs are using Ti since 90s. Iwould like to hear from you F208 owners what do you think of those aluminum tweeters?
I wouldlike to know from you, if you have any news coming from the Performa 3 line? Is Revel considering the Performa 4 upgrade?
The Revel dealer here, is making me an offer I shouldn’t resist…. So I would like to receive some info about the F208s to this date.
Thanks in advance.

I've had the Performa2 F52, listened extensively to the Performa3 F208 and now own the Ultima2 Salon2. I'd say the aluminum tweeters are no slouch. I've never heard the JBL Studio speakers so I can't make a comparison to them. I don't know what you are looking for, but Revel makes a neutral speaker IMO. The aluminum tweeters are not bright, but are VERY clear and clean. The beryllium tweeters in the Salon2 takes it up a notch further.

As for your question about the Performa4. I doubt that will be coming out any time soon. They just released the Performa3 line last year or so. I'm guessing the Ultima2 line will see an upgrade before information on the successor to the Performa3 sees the light of day.

No Performa4 for at least 5 years. The Performa3 came out in late 2012, early 2013 - I bought my F208 early 2013.

The material of the driver is one of many factors that determine the sound quality. If you have a local dealer and they have the F208 on display, then it's pretty easy to decide imho.

The F208 is 90% of the Studio2 according to Revel. And the finish of the cabinet exceeds the Studio2 per Kevin Voeks. While not cheap (depending who the buyer is), it's a pretty darn good value.
