Ok, I'm either missing something or that seems like a waste of wire to do the same thing the straps on the speaker would do.

He did this to compare the 2 options. It's easier to swap around the stackable banana plugs between a single channel on the amp and 2 channels on the amp than it is to swap the jumper straps off and on at the speaker end.

Ah, makes more sense now.

Thanks for the explanation.

What are the F-208's going for these days? I'm looking somewhere close to Virginia Beach.

Hey,

I just bought a pair of F208's from John Schuermann (AVS Member who is a big contributor to this thread) and he was great to work with. He provided great insight, support and always responds quickly to emails or calls. I'd try him. I live in GA and he's shipping them to me. Nice thing is that it's tax free so that's a 7% savings off the bat. My 208's should be here in the next couple days. I'll put up my impressions once I get them setup.

I'm also working with John currently and also recommend him. Great guy with lots of knowledge. Just an FYI, John and Brad (his business partner) are in Dallas this week for CEDIA so he may be a bit slower than usual to respond.

Let me be clear. The lower tier 860's but 7.1 with an SVS sub and Emotiva Xpr-2 and 5. Nothing fancy but working to make it that way.

Thanks G

Have fun with music and HT

I'll be driving the F208's and the C208 with an Emotiva XPA 3 (gen 3) and I have a Denon x3300w to power 2 rear channel speakers. I actually bought a bundle package from John so it was a one stop shop

I'll be upgrading from a DefTech/Onkyo setup. Retail on those $3400 where this is $9000 so I'm hoping for a huge step up in performance and ability. I know that going from Bi Polar to the Revel's will sound very different but can't wait to see and hear the differences.

Revel accidentally shipped my speakers to John (in Colorado) from Kentucky instead of to me in GA so John is trying fix this. I'm heading on vacation next Friday so I hope I can mess around with them before then.

Any one can get good pricing on Revel?

My dealer doesn't carry the brand as he has too many brands.

I heard the Concerta2 and was very impressed

Try contacting John Schuermann. He's a frequent contributor here and a Revel and JBL Synthesis dealer.

Hi guys! I've been AWOL for a bit but I'm just popping in to say that after three months of ownership, I have proposed to my Salon2s and they've accepted my offer for a permanent bond. I love these speakers and they sure can cook too!

I heard a pair of Magico S3s last week just for kicks. Almost the same money but I would not opt for them over the Salon2s. They do not outperform my Salons in any of the critical categories I count as important although they did have a very nice midrange presentation with vocals being a strong point. But the again, the Revels are no slouches in the midrange.

This hobby can make you crazy chasing the dragon but it's my pleasure to report that I have no desire to do other than just listen to my rig. Happiness achieved!

What's the tweeter height on the F208 and what's the position of the tweeter from the bottom of the C208 ?

Tweeter center is 43" from floor without spikes.

Edit: The above is for F208 of course. Not sure about C208, but looks to be about 8" from bottom. Stands add 10.8"

With the Revel F208's tweeter sitting at a fairly high 44" above my floor, and my ears, when seated in my favorite chair, are at only 35", I have to ask, what is the optimum listening height in the opinion of the Performa3's system engineer?

Note: I'm not hearing a lot of change in sound when try different height.

If you are at least 6 feet away from the F208's, you are well within the optimum listening window.

Thanks, I'm about the same ear height and around 12 feet from the front of the speakers to ear.

My speakers are around 9 feet apart left to right centerline so I might need to spread them apart a foot each or so.

Entertainment stand (Standout Designs) is about 26 inches high but I know the C208 is adjustable for angle.

Thanks @Snowmanick and @zoysiaman for your comments!

Sorry, Zoysiaman, about the comedy of errors around the shipment. More like tragedy of errors . Hoping you are enjoying your speakers now!

Hopefully you found someone close by to help you out

BTW, "street price" discussions are not really allowed on the Forum - just MSRP.

Good luck!

The specs listed above are accurate.

Since the F208s and C208 is designed to have very wide, flat and even dispersion, it's not super-critical that your ears be at the exact same height as the tweeter. They are certainly designed knowing that the average pair of ears is going to be 40 - 48 inches off the floor when seated.

What you are doing in terms of getting the speakers in a rough equilateral triangle in relation to your listening position is going to pay off far more in terms of auditory dividends

Wow!!! My speakers came today after a rough experience with shipping. Multiple delays but I walked outside this morning and thought my wife had ordered 2 refrigerators. These F208's are massive!! I'm hoping I become accustomed to them over time. I'm still in the shock and awe stage. I may have a hernia trying to get those things upstairs.

Sadly I couldn't set them up. I'm headed on vacation so I'll have to wait 8 days. Fortunately I'll have something to look forward to on the drive home.

I know the saying, Happy Wife Happy Life. What's the saying for this???

She was NOT excited about the size of them. I probably should have gone with the 206's. But I suppose it will be worth it when those bad boys start singing.

Side note, shout out to John for a great buying experience and handling daily texts and calls from me. The shipping delay was a nightmare but he was a lifesaver through the whole process. I'd certainly recommend him. Thanks JS

How tall is your wife? I don't remember the F208's being quite that tall. Anyway, she'll get over it. 😉

Nice looking speakers and congrats!

PS: I wholeheartedly agree on John S's customer service. The poor guy gets so many calls from me that he just recognizes my number when it pops up. He's been cool about getting PM's, texts, emails and calls practically everyday from me and has always been pleasant, friendly and willing to answer or find an answer for whatever oddball question has popped into my head. Great guy and my wife and I are so excited we are working with him. Highly recommended.
