P143's would be fine for surrounds. If you're gonna buy a PC351 center then at least get P153's up front if not P163's.

So I take it a pc351 flanked by 143's in the front would sound off balance?

Well, with the $99 deal on the P363 I pulled the trigger on those and bought the PC351 center channel. I'm curious how they are going to sound compared to my 20+ year old NHT set-up. I have the NHT 2.1 floor standing model (younger brother to the more popular NHT 2.5 model). The NHT's in their day would have been considered a step up to the Primus line. However, I'm guessing the advancement in technology may move these Primus speakers above my current set-up.

Here's my question, my rear speakers are the small NHT SuperZero Xu model. I'm wondering if it will blend well enough. Obviously, you want timbre-matched front three speakers, but I'm guessing there is more wiggle room in the rears. If I did get a pair of P143's, I'd prefer to keep my Omni-Mount wall mount system. Could I put a couple of wood screws into the back of the p143's to attach the plate of my Omni-Mount (see attached photo)?

thanks!

EDIT: I just noticed on that the 140/143 model has a threaded insert for a third party mounting system, so, disregard my question on the wood screws. If anyone has a used black set in good working condition, let me know.

Any thoughts on a cost effective solution to driving the P363's while incorporating my PC into the mix?

Hello! I got a pair of 363s last week, and they are awesome! I got them when they were $99 each on Amazon. That led to having buy a new receiver yesterday. An Onkyo TX-NR737. (No reason for the receiver other than it was an excuse to get a new one). I want to get surround speakers. Would getting the 253s as rears be overkill? Should I get Primus bookshelfs instead? Sorry, I'm new to all this.

I got a pair of Onkyo SKH-410 Atmos enabled speakers for free when I bought the receiver. How do they fit in? Should I jist leave them in the box and sell them?

Sorry if this isn't the right place for that question.

I have been tempted to get the P363 as rears as well, but really the P163s and even the P153s provide all the sound you will need... but the P363s do look better and don't require stands/mounts. On the Onkyo speakers, they would be good for use as sides on a 7.1 or 7.2.

For my 7.2, I use P363s as fronts and a PC351 center with the P163s as rears. I had the P153s as sides but they are too big for my space so I use small Energy Take Classic speakers instead.

You didn't say what your center was but I would recommend spending the extra money on the PC351 rather than getting the P363s. I have them all (but the P143s) P153s, P163s, P363s, PC251 and PC351. My best upgrade was the PC351.

Thanks for the info. I don't have a center yet. I'm planning on getting the PC351. It's in a barebones state at the moment, as I just started buying it last week. I'm using it as a 2 channel for now. All I have gotten so far are the mains and the receiver. My next purchase will be the center as I have an old pair of Infinity Reference 2000.6s that I can use as the rears for now. I haven't decided if I am going to get a sub yet. The 363s have more than enough bass for me as is.

I've taken come measurements of the Infinity Primus p163 and compared it to some other professional and hobbyist reviews.

http://averagejoeaudiophile.blogspot...ments-and.html

TL;DR

Overall I like Infinity Primus line a lot. I think the p143 is one of the best tiny speakers you can find. The rest of the Primus line has a large following behind then, and when on sale, I don't think anything new in the same price can beat them. I would avoid being right in line with the tweeter, get a little below them if possible to mellow them out. If you can't do that, then use the EQ file made by NoAudiophile. But if you are still looking at the Primus line, a better idea would be to jump up to the p363 towers.

I think a comparison between Infinity Primus and the Pioneer Andrew Jones would be interesting.

I have both the Infinity & Pioneer. I have used both sets of speakers on the same receiver in the same room. The Infinity was more powerful at the same volume and the lower end was more impactful as well. Although the Pioneers are very good speakers and I would buy them again especially for the price I paid ($150 for the pair), I feel like the Infinity is a better speaker. They both sound great and are unbelievable bargains.

What do you have now? Sounds like I'm way behind lol.

Are there any good deals going on with this line currently? Is the $99 deal likely to come back? You probably don't have a magic ball though.

I had a Denon 1910 with 2 Infinity P362s, a PC351 (still have it, trying to sell), a Velodyne VX-10 (same) sub and SVS surrounds (also selling).

I'm moving to a Denon X4000, 2xChane A3rx-c, A2rx-c, 2xRythmik subs and 2xA1rx-c for surrounds.

Couldn't tell you about current deals but I thought they happen fairly often.
