Awesome. Anyway you could also get their big brother's Ci5160-THX and Ci3160-THX polar plots as well? I tried but was unable to get them.

Question Any first hand experience with Marantz PM6005 and KEF Q300?

Now I'm looking to buy a good Stereo Amp to drive these Q300

In my case, I need a DAC, as many of my collections are FLAC and also streaming audio. So, I've shortlisted Marantz PM6005 (which has an inbuit DAC). or should I go for a NAD/ CA? or any second hand good stereo amp + a separate DAC. My budget is around 40K.

I'm also planning to take my KEF to some dealers who has Marantz PM6005; and NAD, for audition. Any other suggestions?

Please give your valuable suggestions/ inputs.
Thanks,
Noble
Any first hand experience with Marantz PM6005 and KEF Q300?

I'm trying to pick up one soon, sadly I can't audition it in my city before buying the amp; hence the question.
To describe my taste in music - I prefer clarity, details in mid-range, instruments separation/ spacing, vocals, a bit depth.

I guess the result will be far from reasonable. These require power, I mean, above 110W ch. Have tested with nad 316bee but changed to a 372.

I just bought these KEF Q55.2 for $175 shipped

http://www.ebay.com/itm/161786782595

I already have some Q65s w/Parasound that I am fond of, so I'll just keep these around until a friend wants them, I have a spare Adcom 545 II amp, which is pretty ideal.

Had C75s prior, circa 1991 to 2011

Nice solution! I bet it sounds great.

Which mount did you use for the R100?
I'm also considering to use 4 R100's as overhead speakers for Atmos/DTS:X

I was a big fan of that series, minus the Q95C. That unfortunately couldn't keep up with the rest of the product line.

Yup Q95C was utter garbage. I didn't like the Q55's bit bloaty on the bass, Q75 were much better (sealed)

Perhaps not with the towers, but it worked pretty well with the Q15.

Interestingly, the Q95C had the beefiest Uni-Q of the whole line. I think it was the only one with a cast frame.

My C75s were sealed, so moving to the ported Q series, taming the bass boom was always the name of the game.

I also have some C10s...

Polk passive 2ch sub tucked away.

I actually prefer a modest AV system. It fills the room at volume and just sounds more natural w/o the huge dynamics.

Could you link me them? I find a bunch of different ones when I search for "pinpoint mount".
Did you have to screw to the speakers?

Wish I could take those off your hands but even used they are likely out of my price range.
Such a elegant/beautiful look though.

Kef does spend a lot on R&D and does make their own drivers which many speakers companies do not! The reference speakers are hand built and having heard the reference 1s and the Blade Twos I was extremely impressed. I have always loved the Kef sound. Great speaker company.

I was referring to the fact that they are a good bit cheaper in Europe. If they were priced in the US as they are over seas, they would have no competition at their price points.

Yes, I know there are port bungs.

What I don't know is what is the f3 of the speaker with the full port bung in? Thanks.

Have you experimented with them unplugged? I just did a pair that were inches from the back wall and did not need the plugs as it was better without. The plugs are a but silly on the r300, unlike the ones on the REF1s.

Haven't bought the speakers - trying to decide what may be right given my placement constraints.

I wish the R300 and R600 were front ported like my older iQ series.
