No, I haven't.

OK, there was one time when I first got my KEF R500 speakers that I pushed it into protection mode. Bear in mind that was loud enough to be heard clearly outside the house, and I could not maintain the level for more than a minute myself. My receiver is rated by NAD at only 60 watts per channel with all channels driven, the C368 is 80. Moreover, the fact that the C368 is a digital amp, it really doesn't get warm at all. It sounds very similar to the previous C series, but a much lower noise floor. As in, dead silent.

KEF R500, R200C, R100, SVS SB2000 sub, NAD T758 receiver, Pro-Ject RPM1 TT w/ Sumiko Pearl, Bluesound Vault2, Sony BDP-S480 BlueRay player, Samsung UN55JU6500F 4K LED TV, KEF M500 headphones, Sony CDP-CE500 CD changer.

Hi Ken, awesome. I think the NAD's that I read about running warm were class a/b. Class d should be good to go in that respect. I have to admit, I'm intrigued with your suggestion....off to the internet to investigate the c368 a bit further. Thanks again.

What's nice about the C368 is...nearly everything! Runs cool, extremely low noise floor, co-ax and optical digital inputs, analog inputs, moving magnet rated phono amp, headphone amp, AptX Bluetooth, Burr-Brown 24/192 DAC, A-B speaker connections, 0.5 watt standby, firmware updates via RS232. Addition capability for Bluesound (with MQA full decoding), HDMI (2-channel) and other features by adding MDC modules.

What's not to love is the ambiguous definitions given about subwoofer crossover. Latest e-mail I got from them is they have it set at 100hz. That would actually be ideal for Q300's.

Is there a place in KEF's website where they rate receivers? Or how did you get KEF rating?

KEF doesn't ever "rate" receivers or amps. I'm not sure what you are asking.

What are you looking for? I didn't rate anything KEF. I mentioned the output rating of a couple NAD products (my T758 receiver and the new C368 integrated amp), but not the speakers.

I ask because I know a few people do use the AV receiver's capability of re-assigning the rear speaker amps of a 7.1 AVR to be given the same signal as main L-R speakers. I tried it with mine and was initially thinking it was better...but it really wasn't. I don't know of any receiver that can do that with the center channel.

My system is back to standard single wire. And it sounds terrific!
using preouts from Denon 4308 FL FR C to Anthem mca 325 and biwire from each output to the speakers.

Denon 4520 and newer have that re-assigning capabilities..

To my ears bi-wire sounds better...

Regarding playing monaural: I'm unaware of what most processors do. I use the audio-sense feature of the Parasound JC 1 monoblocks, and noticed that only the center JC 1 goes from standby to on with a monaural signal, i.e., the Bryston SP3 is sending only only the center JC 1 a signal. I had imagined that it might be more common to sum the LR for monaural, but that may be just my ignorance.

the r600c is 15" from wall to back of speaker. Cant move it out anymore...I messed around with the manual EQ for the center channel and decreased the (7 band EQ) bass 63hz, 150hz, 500hz, and it seemed to HELP!! better now...clearer

Help me understand. The MCA has one pair of speaker terminals for each of the three output channels; left, right and center. Do you have two sets of speaker wire attached to each of the three post pairs on the MCA 325 and then one each to the terminals on the speakers? If so, what size are those speaker wires, in terms of wire gauge size? And how long are the wire runs?

I could understand it sounding better if the speaker wires were very small and a long run. If that were the case I'd just run a 12 gauge wire and be done with it. Photos might help me understand better.

I was all excited thinking there was a way to get an independent rating. My Marantz is rated at 100 Watt per channel but I don't know if this is actually 100 Watt per channel all the time. I don't know if I will benefit from an AMP or I am already getting the max from my speakers.

Ken,
2 cables run from HF/LF to each input on the MCA 325 for FL FR C. Put both in + - of both wires in the speaker terminal, make sure you un-link the connection on the back of the speakers...

Good evening everyone, I received my new Parasound gear today...I was a bit tentative as it's b-stock but I'm happy to report that it looks and plays like new - shout out to Tim at Audio Advisor.

I also received my new Kef q300 speakers to go along with the audio gear..they also look and sound fantastic. The only problem is I ordered white and received black, LOL. I actually wanted black but the Wife wanted white...you know who wins those contests, LOL. Anyway, I guess I got what I wanted in the end because I don't want to deal with returning them. Wife seems to be taking it well, LOL.

Thanks again for all the advice.

Hi Pandaphunk, I believe they were the same price...I'll have to check.

Steve

Edit: I guess I made a good choice sticking with black because they are sold out, LOL. I guess the sale Kef direct was running worked.

Very nice pairing, there aren't many (or, any?) other choices in an upfiring Atmos enabled speaker that can best the R50's.

Someday you should try auditioning those atop a pair of R300. I believe you'd be awed.

Congrats on your 2 new KEF R50 Atmos speakers. These are amazing speakers and well worth their cost.

I have 4 of these beauties atop my new KEF Q700's and KEF Q300's, driven by my Anthem MRX 1120, which Atmos sound track movies sound incredible and standard music is taken to the next level.

Your entire AV system is spot on and must sound incredible as well.

Have a great evening,
Randy

KEF Canada site now showing out of stock for all but Q100s, which are listing at regular price. I'm glad I pulled the trigger on my Q100s and Q200c when I did.

I do believe they'll be announcing the new product within a couple of weeks. Perhaps sooner.

Do be careful however, because last your on 4/1 they "introduced" the Hydro Blaster and did a pretty darn good job of it.

EDIT: BTW, notice that Accessories4Less.com has new Q900's in walnut & black, and Q700's (rosewood only), plus some open box/recertified of each in stock with free shipping. This is how KEF wipes out remaining stocks. They might have sold off all of the Q500's.

KEF R500, R200C, R100, SVS SB2000 sub, NAD T758 receiver, Pro-Ject RPM1 TT w/ Sumiko Pearl, Bluesound Vault2, Sony BDP-S480 BlueRay player, Samsung UN55JU6500F 4K LED TV, KEF M500 headphones, Sony CDP-CE500 CD changer.
