I may order from amazon for a free trial.

Do you know if the feet of the ls50w should be taken off when using the stands?

You don't need to remove the feet, they fit perfectly, as if the stands were created for LS50 exclusively

Hi guys. I was wandering if I would benefit from adding external amp for my system. I have Yamaha 3050 running my Q900, Q600c, Q300, Q100 and Q800ds setup. I was thinking to add a small amp like Emotiva A500 to run the surrounds and take the load off the receiver. I use the system for movies and dot turn it up too much. My room is 20x30x10ft.

You are better off getting a good subwoofer and putting all your speaker crossovers at 80 hz if you want to take some load off your amp

I have two SVS SB2000 that I'm happy with and my crossovers are set at 80hz.

Why do you feel you need a separate amp? Are you getting distortion or chuffing at certain levels?
You could try setting the crossover for the 300's to 90hz and 100-110hz for the 100's and 800's. This would help both the speakers and the amp considering you have very capable subs. FWIW, I have my Q100's set at 90hz and 200c at 100hz. Never had any chuffing and sound best that way. Don't be afraid to experiment.

Kef Q100 FL/FR, Kef Q200c center, JBL Loft 40 surrounds , JBL SP 150 & Bic F12 subs, Denon AVR710Ws, , Panasonic 50" Plasma, Samsung cable box, Xbox One, Toshiba laptop.
Bedroom: JBL Loft 50 FL/FR , Loft 20 center, JBLSP 150 sub, Pioneer VSX-830K, PS3, 32" Insigna LED.

"Speaker break in" is a concept invented by shameless hucksters to prey on the technically illiterate. It has no basis in fact. Any speaker company that hypes up break in is covering for junk product.

Now, might your ears need a little bit of time to acclimate to something new? Sure.

Not 100% true. While no KEF speakers I've heard require break-in, I know of two reputable speaker makers who do advise break-in and most owners do report they sound better after a certain amount of time. Those would be Dynaudio and Totem.

KEF R500, R200C, R100, SVS SB2000 sub, NAD T758 receiver, Pro-Ject RPM1 TT w/ Sumiko Pearl, Bluesound Vault2, Sony BDP-S480 BlueRay player, Samsung UN55JU6500F 4K LED TV, KEF M500 headphones, Sony CDP-CE500 CD changer.

Thank you for the advise. I'll play with the settings and see if sound improves.

Also make sure all your speakers are set to small if you haven't done so already. Some AVR's default the mains to large after auto calibration.

Reputable or not, look at what Totem (for example) also says, here, about bi-wiring and single-wiring:

Egads! The single-wiring thing is a real hoot! One of my all-time favorites.

Hey, I'm interested in buying some KEF Speakers as they are going for a good price in the UK.

My question is for a smallish room, do I go for the Q500 of Q700 package?

links:
http://petertyson.co.uk/index.php/de...-speakers.html
http://petertyson.co.uk/index.php/de...-speakers.html

I'm planning to watch content on the samsung LED TV via my gaming PC mainly! Mainly movies, tv shows, anime and games! Some music too.

This is my first audio setup ever.

I'm not sure if the Q700 or Q500 are better. I do move about every year or so, hopefully a bigger place every year!

Pictures of my room are included here:

My understanding of speaker setups is quite poor and sadly demo-ing will not be possible. I hear the Q500 lack bass in reviews but surely as a package it should be fine in a 5.1 setup?

You should define what is meant by "smallish room". That said, I would definitely go for the Q500 setup. I have heard both and agree with my dealer when he said the Q500 just sound better overall than the Q700 or Q900. I bought my son a pair and they work fantastic in his 16' x 25' (4.87m x 7.62m) room. His sub is an SVS PB2000 though, not one of those KEF wanna-be subs. The Q400b is a good start though.
