Interesting review of the CM1 S2 by CNET.

I just wish we'd get a new CM Centre (3 maybe?) that's as good or better than the 2, but not as @#$! tall. I literally can't fit the 2 in my media center. The only thing that goes in there is the center...but the 2 is too tall. So, I'm stuck with the original CM Centre, which is just ok...not great.

(Technically the CMC2 would fit...but the molding on the front drops down just enough to cover part of the tweeter.)

I'm in the same boat. I was unable to get my CMC2 due to backorder. I now have a set of CM5 and will pair it to a new CMC2 S2. I do think I like the looks of the series 1 a bit better. Not sure if I should return the CM5's and upgrade to the CM6's and put the CM10's up front.

They are not making CMC3 but for your situation I take the CM5 back and get CM6 for the backs with CM10's for the fronts BB will have them Sept 17 you have time to think about it.

Frankly, I have no use for social media and believe that this is the first "like" I have ever expressed anywhere on-line. So, although it was a facile response, it is indicative profound agreement.

Yeah, it seemed pretty obvious the new series was coming. I'll be keeping an eye out for reviews of the CM6.

Interesting stuff. So they've now updated both the 600 and CM series within the past year ... does anyone know anything about an 800 series update and when that might possibly occur? Am thinking about taking the plunge on some 804's once I save up enough $$$ and would prefer to get the newest possible technology ...

Do you not consider the AVS Forum to be a social medium? I'm just wondering where the line is drawn.

Well, to some degree, all human interaction is social. I was referring to the hive-like sites that exist only for the purpose of making connections but without a defined purpose/topic and with the encouragement of endless, mindless, trivial postings. Frankly, I was annoyed when "like" options were added here and on other audio forums and that will probably be the last time I use one, on principle.

do you think that the new 600 series of b&w (683 685 htm61) is wasted/too much for an 16/17 square meters room?

Distance from front is more or less 4 meters and from rear many centimeters because the sofa is attached to the wall.

I have the CMC2 with the CM10s up front with CM1s for surrounds with some CWM can;t remember the model in the ceiling for back surrounds. I too will be considering selling the CM1s for maybe the CM6s. Although at $2,000.00, they are a bit steep.

IMHO, that setup would be fine in that room. The 685s are front-ported so that shouldn't be a problem with the lack of space behind the sofa.

I would listen to the differences first. With the tweeter in cabinet on the CMC2 S2 it may actually match the in cabinet speakers (CM5) better than the bullet style (CM10/CM6). It really depends on how much of the differences heard in the CM9 vs. CM10 is due to the tweeter location vs. design.

In the time I spent comparing the CM9 vs. CM10, the CM10 ends up being a better speaker. But to me it's definitely an incremental upgrade. The CM10 has more low end extension, but that would only really be a benefit in strict 2ch listening. Any decent subwoofer negates this. The chief difference is the CM10 has slightly more detail in the highs and a bit wider soundstage.

If your preference is 2ch material, then the CM10 could be worth the $$. A multichannel setup is a bit muddled. The lack of a bullet style center at first glance seems to compromise a multichannel setup. If you really want to move to the diamonds, I'd be hard pressed to really say the S2's would be worth that much of an outlay of cash. I may change my tune when I can listen to them, but I'm skeptical. But it sounds like they've moved the CM10 tweeter into the rest of the lineup and made incremental improvements to the other components. Based on that I am not expecting huge changes in sound (especially in those speakers with the in cabinet tweeters). If you were looking for new speakers, the S2 will be an easy pick over the old lineup.
