I just bought an SC75 last week for $445

I see a few decent clearance deals on the Marantz 7007 avr and Denon X4000 AVR

HTM 4/ HTM 2 Sound Quality user inputs
I'm looking into upgrading my center channel and was wondering what L&R speakers you were using with your HTM 4 or HTM2 center channel. How does the center channel perform. I'm currently using the CMC2W with 804D2R's. I don't see much talk about B&W Center channels specifically the HTM series. I spend 50% of my time listening to two channel music and occasionally pull out my 5.1 channel stuff. The rest of the time its 5.1 Movies. The set up I am using now sounds good but I'm wondering how much improvement I can get buy upgrading.

System Components:
804 Diamonds L/R
Integra DHC 80.3 Movies/Multi ch music
CP 800 Bypass mode analog 2 ch and digital 2 ch music
Parasound A51B
CM9 B&W Rears
Velodyne DD12C Music Sub
JL Audio F113B Movie Sub

Any input from the thread members would also be appreciated. Room size 24'x20'

Amazon has the AVR-X4000 for $799 and the AVR-4520CI for $1099.

A few other things as well - http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_st_pr...rice-desc-rank

I have the HTM2 Diamond i.e.D2 center and have 800 D2's as mains, before that 802 D2's. The HTM2 is a very solid center though no equal to either the 802 or 800 thus I hear an audible difference in capabilities. More so in music exepcially in the mid range but it's lack of bass capability in comparison to the 800 and 802's is always apparent.

Personally I would only look to a HTM4 if using 805's as it's essentially a 805 and certainly the HTM2 with the 804 and 803 where it is more the ideal match for those speakers. In my opinion of course

Nice clean set-up. Is heat an issue with using the antique cabinet? The only suggestion I have is lowering the TV abit so that image is in line with voice coils. It's always weird to watch a show when the voice seems to emanate from the chest... or feet.

What's the black cylinder?

Great observations and I agree! Thinking and trying to find a way to raise the CC a bit or see how I can lower the TV a bit. Heat hasn't been an issue, yet, but I have been thinking about it and doing research on how I can dissipate the heat....any suggestions?

The black cylinder is a SVS PC-2000 sub I plan on getting another one to replace the small box on the right side.

Thanks for the feedback, I called my local vendor today and basically said the same thing you said so looks like I will go with the HTM 2. I purchased the 804 but would have love to sell out the cash for 802s if I had it.

Hi all. I have a set of B&W 600 series speakers (602 S3 mains, 684 rears). I'm in the midst of remodeling a new house and am contemplating a set of in wall rears to replace my current speakers. What in-wall speakers in the current line are the closest sonic match for my mains? I tried finding a set of DS3's used but they are pretty hard to find. Any suggestions appreciated.

I need some help with making a decision about buying some speakers.
I can buy a pair of used 800d's (series 1) for 10500 or a pair of new 802d(current ) for 12500 which is the better deal because I know the 800 is the better model but does it matter that they are the previous version...have the changes been so dramatic that the current 802d's will be a better speaker for the money?

Hi all -- have a couple quick questions and would appreciate any advice.

After auditioning a ton of different speakers within the past few months, I came to the conclusion that the 804 Diamond would be my best bet for performance/value. I was impressed by the upgrades with the CM10 (and liked some selections from Kef and Monitor Audio) but the 800 series seemed to be on a completely different level, and I probably can never afford the 803 or 802.

Since then, money's gotten even tighter so I'll be looking at a long wait for 804 diamonds. My question is -- how much of a difference is there between the 804 Nautilus and the 804 diamonds? I see some popping up on the various resell sites ... I know there is a big difference in MSRP, but the fact that they're the same "number", etc., makes me wonder ... and it's significantly cheaper.

I'd appreciate any thoughts on 804N vs. 804diamond, and even 804N vs. CM10. I have a Parasound A51 amp just waiting to be used.

Thanks for any help!
Mark

I have the newest 802 Diamonds and love them.

If the 800 series 1 do not have the diamond tweeter, I would probably go with the 802 Diamonds, since they are current and do have the diamond tweeter.

Also, always nice to buy new and have the warranty IMHO.

B&W 802 Diamonds | ASWCM12 sub | Rotel RSP-1572 pre-amp | Rotel RMB-1585 amp (bi-amping the 802 Diamonds) | Oppo BDP-105 | Samsung UN60H7150 | SurgeX QX515 Surge Suppressor/Power Conditioner | Audioquest Cinnamon HMDI, Ethernet, & USB A/B cables | Tributaries Type 6 Speaker Cables | Tributaries Series 6 Analog Interconnects | Acoustimac DMD-422 acoustic panels.

Yeah I'm not sure about the tweeters I thought the only difference was in the crossover and cosmetics

Patrick will be able to provide all the details I suspect but the crossovers changed and the drivers were enhanced along with the obvious cosmetic changes. I think the crossovers in the 800D1 are closer to the changes done for the D2 models in general so it will have more in common then say the 802D1 would to the 802D2 if I understand things correctly. The 802 and 800 also shed quite a bit of weight going from the D1's to D2's.

I'm not sure if you plan on putting together a surround setup with all 800 series speakers so something to consider, if you aren't fortunate enough to have a setup that can accommodate a center 802 or 800 if you go with the old D1 series you have the option to pick up a HTM1D on the used market which would be the perfect center for the 802's or 800's. Sure you could do that if you got the current 800D2s or 802D2's but the HTM1D wouldn't timbre match perfectly but if you can live with that and the slight cosmetic differences it's still a better choice then either the old HTM2D1 or the current HTM2D2.

Thanks for the advice! I know everyone is eagerly anticipating the big reveal..."drums please" (shout out to Will Smith). I went with the Denon x2100W. I probably wouldn't use all of the features of the Marantz and the Denon was on sale I know I'm on the low end of the spectrum here, but the 685 s2's sound great!!! Now I can listen to quality music while watching sports

I was planning on getting an htm1d or a new htm2 for center and I have some 683s2s I was going to use for surrounds until I find some 803ds or 804ds
