What do you mean by "biamp specs"?

Those models are old enough that it wouldn't make sense to spend big money to biamp them. It might make a difference, but only a very small one. Good speakers at the time though. They're too warm and lacking in detail by todays standards, if that's what you're going for. The were only a few $hundred per pair ten+ years ago, you know.

my amps are old too. Marantz 1070 and 1060. The sytem sounds great at low volume. Is the lack of detail at high volume the speakers or the amps or both? Which of the newer B&Ws or other brands would you recommend. But about buying seperate drivers and making something. There seems to be more reward in that

Could be both, but certainly the speakers. But they're nice speakers, just a bit warm. My personal favorites at the moment are the NHT Threes, but Revels, Triads, PSBs, etc are worth listening, if nothing else but to see where things are right now.

if you are interested in buying new speakers, i would suggest lending an ear to B&W CM1, nht classic 3 (if you can find them), and paradigm studio 20 v4 when it comes out.
